NO. NO. NO. Do not choose this hack company. They did not even complete the job. 4 months after getting the roof, we had water coming in through our walls and puddling at the bottom of the stairs, because they did not put on ANY ice guard. They tore up the shingles on that section and installed a small strip, but now we question what they did with the rest of the roof? The job manager never showed up, so there is no documentation of the work done, and we do not know what the condition of our roof is. They pay for their high reviews. When they left all of the rotted wood, we agreed to leave a 5 star review in return for a 10% discount (not happy to settle on that, but they threatened a lein if we didn't sign paperwork in time). There is so much to be said about so many things they have done wrong. Save your money, and hire someone else.

Dallas, thank you for the detail. We take this seriously and want to get the full picture right. A few facts from our records. We installed ice-and-water shield on this roof and have dated photo documentation of that work and the completed install, which we are glad to walk through with you in person. When you reported the leak, our crew returned, found the source, and repaired it, and to our knowledge there has been no active leak since. If water is coming into the home anywhere today, call us and we will be back out. If any part of the job does not match what was promised, we want to see it and fix it. Adam McKibbin, President, will be your direct contact at (937) 222-7855 and amckibbin@vanmartinroofing.com. Reach out and we will schedule a full walkthrough of the roof with the documentation in hand.

We contacted this company for a simple repair quote on flashing around a vent. Instead, we got a two-hour sales pitch trying to convince us to replace our entire roof—despite it being only six years old. The approach felt extremely outdated and pushy. They spoke in a condescending tone and relied on classic high-pressure tactics, including trying to create fear about the condition of our roof. At one point, they repeatedly asked about my wife and whether she could join the conversation, which came across as inappropriate and uncomfortable. It felt like they were attempting to use her presence as leverage in the sale, which is a tactic that should have been left in the 1950s. For context, I work in marketing and sales, and even after making that clear, they continued pushing aggressively rather than adjusting their approach. They also pointed to old water stains in the attic decking that I’m aware of before their arrival as “evidence” of active issues, despite our roof being recently inspected both when we purchased the home and again this year in preparation to sell. Overall, this was not a professional or respectful experience. What should have been a straightforward repair estimate turned into an unnecessarily long and uncomfortable sales pitch. I’d recommend others proceed with caution.

Thank you for taking the time to share this in detail — it gives us something real to work with, and that matters to us. We're sorry your experience missed the mark. You came to us with a clear, specific request and you deserved exactly that in return — not more, not less. Every customer's situation is different, and our approach should reflect that. Being thorough only means something when it's in service of what the person in front of us actually wants. We'd genuinely welcome the chance to do better. If you still need that repair estimate, we'll keep it focused, straightforward, and on your terms.

Van Martin sub contracted out my gutter replacement job to absolute hacks. They trashed my property, installed gutters with dings & scratches, AND didn’t hook up my gutters to the existing drain pipes. My foundation flooded and it cost +10k in repairs to my home which they refused to help with. Every part of my experience with van Martin was miserable, start to finish! My homeowners insurance didn’t cover it saying it was Van Martins job to pay for it. When I asked them to take accountability for the damage done to my home and the resulting construction they laughed in my face. I thought I had been vigilant by hiring them for a smaller project before having them do new gutters on the house. Do not trust this company on your property for ANYTHING.

They use AI and they kept wanting to schedule a roof inspection when I only needed gutters and the kept sending texts. Wanting an email address. Probably laid people off for the a.i. assistant so I won't be doing business with them. I would suggest you call around for other businesses before using them.

Hi Oliver, We’re truly sorry for the frustration you experienced — that’s never the kind of interaction we want anyone to have with Van Martin Roofing. We have two people answering the phones every day from 8 AM to 8 PM, and we’ve added an AI assistant to help make sure we don’t miss any calls or messages when our team is on lunch, in a training meeting, on another line, or away from the phone. It sounds like in this case, our system may have misunderstood your request, and we sincerely apologize for that confusion. We definitely haven’t replaced our staff, in fact we are adding additional staff to better serve our customers. Our goal with technology is simply to improve communication and serve our customers faster, not to lose the personal touch that defines who we are. We’d love the chance to make this right and ensure your gutter needs are taken care of properly. If you’re open to it, please call us directly between 8 AM and 8 PM and asked to be transferred to a live person if you don't get one initially so one of our team members can personally assist you. — The Van Martin Roofing Team

Van Martin wasn't the cheapest but I lean on quality and value over the cheapest bidder. After reviewing options I decided on Van Martin. During install, there were a lot of concerns. The roofers were subcontracted and were tearing shingles off throwing them everywhere. I understand time is money, but when my new heat pump is getting slammed with shingles, I have problems. Additionally, they were brought mix matched colors of flashing and caulk. I had tan caulk used on brown flashing, mix-matched flashing colors, damaged shingles - It looked pretty bad. In Van Martins defense they tried to address a lot of the concerns. Damaged shingles were replaced, tan caulk was covered with brown and the flashing was painted. I didn't like that they basically blamed the supply house for everything. If its wrong, why install? My main problem is that my now 6 year old roof looks worse than my 15-20 old roof it replaced. The painted flashing is all faded and I have large black spots by downspouts on the 2nd level. After review, the installed downspouts were kicked up causing premature damage to shingles on the 1st level. I'm within warranty so I called Van Martin asking for help. They came out and basically squeezed the downspouts bending them down. I paid for the upgraded shingles and asked about the warranty for the damaged shingles. I was told they no longer carried this manufacturer. I asked for the tech to have a manager call me and have yet to hear anything. This has been a couple of weeks now. My invoice claims I should have a 7 year "workmanship" warranty and the shingle warranty but that's pointless if they don't honor. Buyer beware, there are a lot of good options in the Dayton area so do your research before committing on this type of large expense.

Very unprofessional, I was given a hand wriiten estimate. When I called to get an official copy of the hand written estimate there was a significant difference in the price,. Van Martin is overpriced compared to other roofing companies.

Called to have them check out a small leak. When they arrived, they immediately started in on replacing the whole roof. When informed we wouldn’t be getting a whole new roof at this time, they took 10 mins to take pictures of everything but the issue we called for. Said they were done and quoted $1200-1500 to fix the leak with no explanation. Wasted our time. These guys might not have been from the moraine location, but very unprofessional and made us feel like we weren’t worth their time. Do not call this company if you need a leak repaired.

I had a great experience with Van Martin for my siding replacement. Darien, the project manager, did a great job with communication and making sure everything was completed. The siding team was quick, efficient, and did a nice job. I would suggest making sure the sales team provides very accurate job descriptions so everyone is on the same page about the work being completed. Overall, I’m happy with the experience and the finished result.

I had a minor leak in the roof. Mike came out and found a nail had popped up. He fixed that and also did some caulking on a second section of the roof that Van Martin had not installed. Quality work and fast response time

Van Martin was very proactive and helped me schedule an inspection quickly after all the rain storms we’ve been having. Matt did an amazing job helping me understand what I am getting into with the details of why they do what they do which was a big deciding factor in what I decided to go with Van Martin. Working with Darien has been a smooth process and he ensures that everything is done correctly and properly. His team has been really nice and did a great job with cleaning everything up after the installation. Would definitely recommend Van Martin to anyone who wants great service with good quality materials and work!!

The experience we had with Van Martin was great from the beginning to the end. The contractor Darien kept us informed by both text and phone calls. Darien and the crew were very professional and addressed any and all concerns. We had the entire roof (shingle) replaced and siding over the garage. I was very impressed that the company went the extra mile to make sure the siding matched. Very pleased with the work. .
