Stephen Curley, CEO responding. I was here for this phone call and it was it was during our training meeting so we often use these for learning, and policy discussions. To clarify, most licensed and insured roofing contractors cannot afford to go out and do estimates for small repairs, especially during the season. If the customer can send a picture of the roof, and vicinity of the leak, even from the ground I can give insight and try to help and I am happy to do this. Mrs. Monahan after trying to force Marlene to change our policy, literally told her that we just weren't a good fit for her. This is when Marlene did politely tell her that she understood and to please have a nice day. This was not done maliciously but of course Mrs. Monahan was not happy with this or our policy. We always try to go over and above for our customers. The rest of her accusations are exaggerated. I believe we are one of maybe 10 contractors out of over 400 in the county who are willing to help with repairs. The reason it is difficult to get a roofer for repairs is that if a licensed, insured contractor spent too much time going out to give bids on small repairs we would go out of business! I wish Mrs. Monahan could have been more kind and not tried to lash out at us. We of course wish her the best.

Honestly.... Steve Curley is the single worst contractor you could ever wish to hire. Please, find someone, anyone else, to work on your roof; you will be glad you did. If the guy isn’t blowing smoke up your derrière, then he’s probably ripping you off. Check all of his invoices, and all of his work (his “carpenters” are NOT carpenters at all; they are a few guys with circular saws and a stomach for heights, that’s it!). The majority of the “carpentry work” he did for me was some of the worst you could wish to find. Spend your hard earned cash on someone more deserving and far more skilled than this clown.

As a family owned and operated contractor, we have one roofing crew and do one job at a time, start to finish; we would not fill up a debris box with garbage from "other jobs." Our policy on debris boxes is the cost of the box ($350) plus weight; I am not sure where the "additional $1,000" figure came from. Also, we keep impeccable documentation of all of our projects and have no record of this person in our database. Please disregard.

I hired Stephen to do the roof on my house a few years ago, so when I needed a roof on my garage I didn't hesitate to call him. My first experience with him was fine, but this last experience was horrible. I echo the sentiments of others here and on Yelp about his demeanor: he is rude, hostile, aggressive and highly unprofessional. (As is some of this office staff.) When I expressed to him my dissatisfaction with the gutters (they slope upward, toward the roof, forming a slight V at the roof edge) he got upset with me, told me they were "functional," that it was "only a garage," told me that if it were him, he would not re-do the work, and finally blamed me because I was at home during the work and should have said something to his crew. (I DID say something once the gutters had been put on, but his crew left before the gutter man put on the gutters and no one came out to inspect the finished job.) We had two tense phone conversations, and in the last one he kept interrupting me to the point where I finally had to ask him to stop interrupting so that I could finish my sentence to which he replied, "You're not a psychiatrist!" and when I asked him again to please stop interrupting me, he said, "this is not a psyche-eval!" At that point I knew I wasn't dealing with someone who could have a calm and rational conversation, so I said nothing else. He testily said he would come out and re-cut the rafters but that I had to tell him THAT night and that he could only come out the next morning because he didn't want this "hanging out there." I quietly told him that I had to go and would call him later to which he replied, "Oh, now I see who I am dealing with." After much contemplation, I decided NOT to have him come back and fix the rafters so that the gutters would lay flush against the roof because I sensed that I could no longer trust him or his crew to re-do the work satisfactorily, nor did I believe that I could communicate calmly and rationally with him. There are roo

I am very sorry to see this from Karen, my satisfied customer. Karen supervised the entire tear off, rafter cut, gutter installation and re-roof of her garage. Because she was very worried about the water running over her gutters in the past, we did cut the rafters at perfect angles to install a flush gutter with a slight upward angle in order to more likely catch water in heavy rains. As we left the project she not only approved of our work, she praised and thanked us. Apparently a friend came by later that evening and got her going about the slight upward angle of her gutter and got her worried. Yes, I did try to remind her of what we did and why, with her approval. She got upset and I didn't hear from her again. When she finally called our office and spoke to my office managers, they were kind as always but she again got upset as they didn’t understand her argument either. I offered to re-do the eaves but she declined. Last, the garage gutters were done similar to her home gutters where she was extremely satisfied. I feel like she got caught in the middle of a friend and what she had approved and I feel for her. My offer still stands if she would like me to re-cut her eaves and do the gutter horizontal but she will be back to the same "water run over" situation she had in the first place. As I am the Contractor and Journeyman roofer in the office I tend to be quick. My office staff is extremely kind and we make a great team. I care. Please read this and other reviews on people’s positive experiences before believing anything outright.

My experience with Stephen Curley was horrific! He required full payment for a repair in advance. I found him to be rude and he put me on a speaker phone and said I had called him a liar about his approx. time to do the job.It took me three months and I called in to stay that I wanted my money back and I find another company they said “oh your name is on the list for Friday”. When the crew left the sight the3 foreman wrote on the receipt “needs full roof replacement.” This triggered my insurance co. to demand a new full roof replacement. It was impossible to find any other company that would say if there was anymore life in that roof. They should have just told me as the owner and standby his repair.I would strongly discourage anyone Considering this company.

As a small, family owned and operated contractor we only have one roofing crew and do one job at a time. Repairs are done in between our projects when we have the time to do them; this is explained in detail to everyone who contacts us for repairs. We accept payment for repairs at the time we show up to do the work. Denice lives in Nevada City, hence the payment in advance prior to our repair. She only paid $450 as opposed to our minimum repair charge of $1,000 and had the choice to mail it to her tenant or to our office. We repaired the obvious exposed areas around flashings and roof-to-wall areas and made our recommendation of needing a new roof based on what we saw during the repair; all of this is spelled out clearly on the paid-in-full invoice that was emailed to Denice after the repair. Based on what other roofers have told Denice our findings were honest and consistent.

The man who answered the phone was rude and began our conversation with accusations I was a telemarketer. I refuse to do business with someone who acts unprofessionally. There are a lot of other people who will be happy for the work I have.

My wife and I hired Stephen Curley Roofing to replace the roof on our home in Bennett Valley, Santa Rosa in October 2020, and we’ve been extremely happy with our decision. Stephen and his team did a fantastic job! The crew was always on time, worked efficiently, and did an excellent job cleaning up the job site at the end of each day. Stephen also recommended adding several additional roof vents, which have made a noticeable difference during the summer months by helping keep the house cooler. We also had gutter guards installed on the new gutters, which has eliminated the need for fall gutter cleaning. Now, six years later, we’re still enjoying cooler summers and maintenance-free gutters! At the completion of the project, Stephen personally went up on the roof to inspect every detail and ensure everything was done exactly as expected. If you’re looking for a roofing company with excellent communications, a hardworking and high-quality crew, and expert workmanship, Stephen Curley Roofing is the one you want to work with. Thanks again, Mr. Curley!

I highly recommend Stephen Curley Roofing, Inc. When we purchased our property in Petaluma a dozen years ago we engaged Stephen Curly Roofing to replace the roof on an ADU unit and then the main house the following year. Mr. Curley is very professional, his team is careful and thorough, but also quick, and his prices reasonable based on other bids received for the work. Both roofs still look great and no issues. More recently we engaged Mr. Curley to address a condensation issue we were having in one room with high ceiling. Mr. Curley thoughtfully considered the problem, came back with a solution that he explained to us thoroughly, and his team quickly implemented. At the same time the crew upgraded our under-performing gutter guards, and that required removal of the old guards, cleaning of the gutters and installation of the new guards. These projects were completed in a timely and precise fashion and at reasonable cost . The crew removed all debris each day (2) of the work. Mr. Curley is very responsive, takes pride in the work of his team, and made us feel like we had a partner in the work rather than just a hired hand.

Stephen Curley Roofing did an outstanding job from start to finish. The team was professional, punctual, and very thorough in their work. They explained the process clearly, answered all my questions, and kept the job site clean each day. The quality of the craftsmanship is excellent, my roof not only looks beautiful but also feels solid and secure. I work with a nonprofit organization and Steve Curly gave us a great bid. Did a fabulous job. Had a great crew. They were very polite. We loved doing business with them. Stephen was so kind and easy to work with. We highly recommend them. ...and then months later during the storm that just happened (Nov 24) when something unrelated to the roof leaked a little water through a vent they came and checked it out and fixed it for our NPO for free because they are that kind of a company. Give them your business because we need more local companies like this.

I have been around construction for many years and worked with dozens and dozens of outfits. This is a company that takes pride in its work and in every way it shows. From thorough communication to leaving the site spotless each day, to high quality workmanship, it was a pleasure working with Stephen and his crew. It is a rare company I have not had to follow-up on some manner. Not only did they not overlook details, they also threw in some extras that were not part of the bid.
