  BEWARE. Complete waste of time. After receiving proposals from four roofing companies, we decided to use Spence Company LLC. While setting up a date/time to sign the contract and pay the deposit, we received an email from the owner (Matt Spencer). Matt said he needed to revise the contract before we signed. The new contract was $10,590 higher! Yes, you read that correctly. TEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY DOLLARS MORE. A 30% increase! It was the EXACT SAME QUOTE (see photos), but $10,590 higher. We were very specific about the shingle - and that shingle was listed correctly on the first contract. He said he made a mistake - that's quite a mistake! We agree upon a contract and then you take it back and increase it by $10,590?!?!? Do NOT waste your time or take this company seriously. UPDATE: 8/16/24 While we understand Spence Company's need to minimize the situation, let's be clear. It was not an "initial quote" - it was a CONTRACT. We were ready to complete the contract with our signatures. Do not take my word for it - see the attachment. We were literally setting up a time to sign it and make the deposit when we received an email with a new contract with a TEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY DOLLAR INCREASE.

  Matt was very communicative and understanding through the process. The crew did a great job and highly recommend due to quality of work and cost. Update: A leak developed along the sidewall transition. Matt came out and spoke at length about his commitment to quality and doing things right, but the repair work done for the callback was superficial and failed to resolve the leak. I ended up tearing into the roof-to-wall intersection myself to fix it properly. Beneath the new shingles, I found that the old continuous flashing had been hammered down and reused instead of being torn off and replaced. Parts of this buried metal were wedged roughly an inch away from the wall sheathing and riddled with holes, allowing water behind the siding to go into the house. It also bowed out the J-channel and siding, while the new step flashing installed on top inherited that same gap. While the main area of shingles and flat roof appear to be installed well, critical flashing details were neglected, corners were cut, and the callback failed to properly address the leak.

  Spence replaced our roof, siding and gutters. All aspects of the interaction were professional and their willingness to work with us on several issues made it a better experience. We are very satisfied with the work done. After the projects were completed, we had damage to our siding by another contractor. Spence came out and fixed the damage. The repair was flawless.

  Spence & his team were great! I had to be out of town when they started my roof replacement & Matt sent photos and communicated throughout the project. I had an extra layer of shingles for the guys to remove (thanks for the extra work in the heat). I then had my gutters replace & they did a great job. They cleaned up at the end of every day. Just in time for the rain. I also have 2 areas of my roof that are metal and they coated it- looks amazing! I also had new aluminum trim place around my house. Really happy with the whole job!

  Matt and his team did an excellent job. He replaced our gutters and downspouts, removed old roof shingles and installed new 50 yr roof shingles and caulked and painted a hard to reach window for us. Very professional team, quality workmanship, reasonable pricing. We would recommend him to anyone who needed this service.

  Communication was quick and professional. Crew did an outstanding job cleaning up. Offered a wide variety of colors for shingles/flashing/gutters. Everything agreed to was delivered at the price quoted. Just because a roofing contractor has a commercial during the Reds/Bengals game does not mean they are the best. Glad I made the decision to keep my local dollars local with the small company as compared to the large.
