  On multiple occasions someone driving one of these company trucks has come barreling down my residential street pulling a trailer. Your OWNERS and EMPLOYEES are representatives of your company. Take that into consideration if you plan on having this company do work for you, your street will become a speedway.

  Untrustworthy Our roof was leaking. The water was entering our house in the basement, from the chimney stack. Jim Schumacher came and assessed the roof. While standing next to the chimney he shifted his weight, causing a springboard effect and said, “Here’s your problem. You have 3, maybe 4 boards that need replacement. The boards will cost extra of course.” No problem. We hired him because he is a certified installer for the roofing shingles he used, and that secured the 30 year material warranty. Jim Schumacher also has a three year warranty for his own work. Less than 3 years passed when we experienced an extremely high wind and heavy rain, and the roof again leaked, exactly as before the replacement. When speaking to Jim Schumacher about this, he assured me he would fix the issue “if it was a shingle problem”. But he immediately blamed the chimney (which has been inspected twice in 3 years during cleanings). He assured me he would send the best chimney man in the business along with the roof assessor. Unfortunately, “best in the business” became “best for his business” as the chimney assessor looked at everything but the chimney, claiming the leak was caused by the furnace condensation, at first, and after my rebuttal regarding the amount of water and that there has never been a condensation problem before, (or since), then he attacked our furnace (also serviced and always functioning properly) for it’s age and threateningly exclaimed “if the county inspector saw that furnace they’d SHUT IT DOWN IMMEDIATELY!”. Again, no furnace issues. In fact it had just been inspected in November: “Operating Normally”. Then the, now angry” chimney expert said “then it’s the ground water underneath the basement.”. I responded, “really, now it’s the ground water underneath the basement, and it’s only a problem within the chimney stack which is in enclosed by not only the house but the garage too.   Mr. Henderson called me about a roof leak around his chimney a few weeks ago, three years after we installed his roof. I had Joe Yates, a chimney expert I trust, on his roof within a day. Joe said the chimney flashing was fine, the roof looked great and told Mr. Henderson that the water was blowing down the flu. Mr. Henderson argued with Joe and kept yelling at him, “It’s not the chimney, it’s the roof!” It’s extremely difficult to reason with a customer when they feel like they know more than the expert. Mr. Henderson has no construction background and will not get on the roof. I explained to him that if the chimney leaks from the chimney flashing, it will go directly down to the ceiling below which would be his living room. The water was bypassing the 1st floor and going directly to the basement which told us it was going inside the chimney. I did not charge Mr. Henderson for the chimney flashing in 2022, nor would I charge him now, because it’s not the issue. He wrote that we slapped gunk on his chimney when we did his roof, that’s not true. We caulked the top of the chimney crown when we were finishing up the roof install because my foreman saw cracks in the concrete. We did this as a courtesy, not for money. He posted a screen shot from the Better Business Bureau, but he never contacted them. I honestly wish he had contacted the Better Business Bureau about his issue with me. They would have denied his complaint because I offered him a solution to test his theory, and he denied it. I emailed him two weeks ago and I offered him a free water test to prove that the shingles are not leaking. A water test would prove this by spraying water on the shingles and not the top of the chimney. I told him if the shingles failed the water test and leaked, I would fix his roof. He denied my free test and told me he was paying someone $1800 to replace the chimney flashing because I won’t fix it. Bashing contractors that don’t show up or don’t return calls

  We had a roof installed by this Schumacher. He refused to install a painted metal valley. His story was that a closed shingle valley was buiiding code. We have since found out this is not true. They do this to save on labor and materials. I would not recommend Jim Schumacher or his crew.

  To the neighbor who wrote this review, can you please reach out to me because you are not my customer. I spoke to the customer that I installed in Oakbrook and they are 100% happy with the way their roof turned out. Having no metal in the valley is not code, it is just the way we install our roofs. I don't know any customer who would want rusty metal on their roof? If you are going to write something bad about my company, please be my customer. This is totally not acceptable!   Schumacher Roofing recently replaced the roof on my house. Jim gave me an estimate for the roof which was in line with expected pricing. His company showed up exactly as they said they would and replaced the roof in basically one morning. They did a fantastic job cleaning up everything like this work never even happened. An issue arose requiring additional work. Jim had a quick solution that was very cost effective. I am a licensed civil engineer that totally understands when work is done correctly. Schumacher di all of this correctly, efficiently and in a very cost effective manner. I would recommend them to anyone that wants a high quality project completed on time and within budget.

  Schumacher Roofing deserves more than 5 stars! It needs an award for the "Best of the Best"!! Jim, the owner and his assistant Chris are amazing. They do exactly what they say they are going to do and are at your house the time they say they will be. Schumacher Roofing offers his customers something that you don't see much of nowadays, honesty, excellent customer service along with a great job of putting your roof on. His crew was hardworking and cared about you as a customer. Their clean-up was better than when they started. The yard, driveway and deck was spotless when they left. If you are looking for someone to do your roof ....look no further....Schumacher Roofing is the best hands down!! Thank you Jim and staff for all your hard work and caring about your customers!!

  We couldn’t ask for a better experience! Jim guided us through every step of the way with navigating insurance claims to making sure the roof looked good with our house style. They were so understanding and flexible with our schedules and left our home in pristine condition after all of the work was completed! I can’t recommend Schumacher enough!

  It was a pleasure to work with Jim, the owner. He patiently answered all of my questions and helped me choose the best shingles for my home. Chris came to bid the job and answered questions before, during and after the project. The crews worked hard and did a nice job cleaning up after the job was finished. Jim's crews have been working with him for many years which gave me a comfort level that they would do a good job. Everyone I worked with was professional and courteous. Best of all, my roof and gutters look great!
