Roof was installed June 18, 2026. It was actually American Home Tech's suggestion to have our insurance company cover the cost — but then in August, before the insurance payout came through, they filed a lien against our property. They know …

Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand that seeing a lien filed against your property can be concerning, and we’re sorry this aspect left you frustrated. We’d like to clarify that filing a lien is not an aggressive collection tactic or an indication that we believe a homeowner does not intend to pay. In Ohio, construction companies have a very limited period of time after completing work to preserve their lien rights, so waiting indefinitely for an insurance claim to be finalized could mean losing the ability to protect our company’s interest in payment for completed work. (We’d rather not take this path if at all possible.) In this case, the roof was completed June 18, and we postponed filing the lien for as long as legally possible while waiting for the claim to be finalized and funded. A construction lien is a standard business practice, does not mean the homeowner has done anything wrong, and is removed once the claim is finalized, insurance funds are received, and payment is made. While we work diligently to move insurance claims forward, we are ultimately dependent on the insurance company’s processing and payment timelines. We regret that this process caused unnecessary stress and are glad to hear you were satisfied with the roofing work itself. We’d be happy to discuss the specifics of your claim and answer any remaining questions directly to best protect your privacy. Please email us at hello@americanhome.tech.

I will never choose this company for actual work on my house. They come by and knock on my door at least twice a month. It is harassment at this point. They are the equivalent of the extended car warranty calls, except they come to your …

Wendy, we apologize for any inconvenience our visits have caused you. If our team is reaching out about a roof inspection, it likely means your roof is a strong candidate for a replacement as our team is trained to identify storm damage. We have already helped thousands of other homeowners in the tri-state area, but we respect your desire to not be contacted. Email us at marketing@americanhome.tech with your address, so we can update our files and no longer contact you.

One of your drivers just tried to kill me. Nearly hit me, then did it again when I flipped him off. Please do something about your people before they kill someone.

    Reply from the business

Cody, we take these complaints seriously, as vehicle and driving safety are paramount for our business and how we interact with the public. We do have dash cams in all of our vehicles, and after reviewing the footage, it is clear that our employee was not "trying to kill you". The video footage clearly shows that our fleet vehicle was driving in the left lane of the highway, in its own lane, and your vehicle crossing into the left lane, as if it was going to hit our fleet vehicle unprovoked by our staff. No matter the initiating circumstance, we do not condone employee behavior communicating inappropriately via hand signals, and our management team will discuss with this incident with the employee about our company policy and what is expected of them to behave respectfully no matter what.

I’m completely unsatisfied by the service I’ve received from American Home Tech. I don’t know who to point blame at, but I feel completely disrespected by the whole process. I contracted them through by bank Wells Fargo, and because I live with walking distance of their HQ, I decided that I would like to work with them because of the improvements needed on my home for our refinancing. It’s been over 100 days since I signed the paperwork to have them do the job. But, no one has contacted me, since I signed. I’ve been the one reaching out. I know it’s a busy time of year for construction. But neglecting our services, especially with it been over 5k. I’m extremely disappointed. Im sure they do good work, but with my experience I couldn’t tell you.

    Reply from the business

Kemuel, We sincerely apologize for the frustration and disappointment you’ve experienced. We fell short in proactive communication, and we fully understand why the delays and lack of consistent outreach left you feeling disrespected. Regardless of the time of year or our project volume, you deserved clearer communication and better follow-through from our team. We want to assure you that your project has not been forgotten or neglected. Our team has been trying to connect with you regarding timing for project completion, and we would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly and get everything moving forward. We’re sorry for where we fell short, and we genuinely hope we can make this right and leave you with a much better experience than the one you’ve had so far.

I do not like door-to-door solicitation, but the young woman I spoke with was very nice and convinced me that it would be worth my while to check into whether my homeowner's insurance would cover a new roof. Great. Evening hours were more convenient, so we arranged for a visit at 6pm the next day. 6:00 came and went. 7:00 came and went. No calls or texts.By 8:00, when I had given up and was settling in for the night, there was a tap at the door, which I ignored. The next day I did get a text of apology and a request to set up a new appointment. No, thanks! Bad business practice! I wouldn't bother.

Teri, Thank you for providing this valuable feedback. We are glad to hear that you saw value in a roof inspection and we appreciate you agreeing to that opportunity.  We sincerely apologize for the lack of communication regarding the delay to your appointment. While our Project Specialist was running behind because earlier appointments took longer than expected, we should have proactively contacted you with an update and given you the opportunity to adjust or reschedule if needed. At American Home Tech, we strive to provide a professional and transparent customer experience, and we fell short. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Feedback like yours helps us improve. We hope you'll consider giving us another opportunity to earn your trust in the future.

My experience with this company was extremely disappointing. The crew arrived and began work on my home a day earlier than scheduled, despite the fact that neither my husband nor I had approved them to come that day. No one was home when they started the project, and we were not given the opportunity to review the materials before installation. Had I been present when the work began, I would have immediately pointed out that the replacement siding was the wrong color. Instead, I arrived near the end of the job and was presented with a completed repair that was an obvious mismatch to the rest of my home. To make matters worse, payment was requested on the spot, even though the work had been performed on a day that had not been approved and I had concerns about the quality of the repair. What should have been a simple siding repair left me with two highly visible patch’s that do not blend with the existing siding. The lack of communication, failure to obtain approval before beginning work, and poor color matching made this a frustrating and now expensive experience from start to finish. I would not recommend.

Hi Annie, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustration and disappointment you've experienced. The experience you've outlined does not reflect the level of communication and customer service we strive to provide. We take concerns regarding scheduling, workmanship, and material selection very seriously, and we would like the opportunity to investigate what occurred. Unfortunately, we have been unable to locate a customer file based on the information provided in this review. Stop by my place to see 50 REASONS NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY and if that doesn’t convince you I’ll show you more. 6 months of endless empty promises, excuses and lies. Sloppy workmanship. Roof isn’t right, windows installed on rotten wood, cut our business phone lines, nails and screws all over the yard and parking lots. We even found their nails from their nail gun inside our puppy’s kennel with the pup inside! Had to replace the siding three times to try to get it right. I’ve got pictures of the shoddy workmanship. Stop by and see, for yourself. Should be called American homeWRECK! Is the job complete? No, they walked away saying they had too much money in it trying to fix their many, many mistakes. Scam alert!

Nancy, we are sorry to hear about how unhappy you are. Though the project may have had small hiccups, which we rectified immediately, the final project is work we are proud of and stand by. The photos you posted, as part of your review, are of the job as it was being done this past winter (i.e. see the snow). The photos clearly represent that the work was in progress. We do acknowledge that we ended up re-doing some of the work that was done to the back of the property - again a solution that you seemed satisfied with at the time. Your photos do not reflect our final work and the completed project. If we could include photos in our response, we would post the beautiful completed project, but we are happy to send those to anyone who wants to inquire. We fulfilled multiple requests over the course of this project, and we stand by the final product.

Lost $2,500 on estate sale due to chimney leaking. Representative states, "We have been getting a lot of those." Leads me to believe that they skilled enough for roofing with chimney. They did provide quick service after our Aunt's passing and roofing looked nice from street until we had large rain storm.

    Reply from the business

Hi Cyndee, thank you for the opportunity to respond to your concerns. I connected with our team and was told that we came out to your home the same day you called in with the issue to fix the chimney. We understand that you communicated with our team to not worry about it, that you already reduced $2,500 off the house. Our team checked the roof and added caulking while we were there, but unfortunately we were unable to get inside the home to further investigate the issues. We did our best to mitigate the issue and completed a fix, so we are sorry to hear that you may still be unhappy with your experience. Please call us at 859-869-4101 so we can discuss this further and ensure you are satisfied.

We had a leak in our bathroom and assumed it was the roof. We called American Home Tech who did our roof 8 years ago to complain. They came out and completely tore the section above the bathroom roof off only to discover that the plywood was in great shape with no issues. They then went above and beyond to go into our attic to discover that the issue was a broken pvc pipe and took clear video to show us the issue. We were blown away by their professional and their desire to resolve the issue even though it was past warranty. Thanks Jake and Team! We will refer you to everyone we know!
