Inspecting custom copper flashing and mortar tie-ins around brick chimneys before seasonal rainstorms begin is critical for preventing top-floor roof leaks. On homes throughout Center City, South Philadelphia, and Fishtown, brick chimneys and roof decks expand and contract at different rates during temperature shifts, causing traditional mortar and caulk seals to crack open. When counter-flashing metal corrodes around chimney bases, rainwater flows down masonry walls directly into ceiling joist bays, staining drywall and rotting structural roof decking hidden beneath roofing membranes. Philly Roofing LLC delivers technical chimney roofing repair services engineered to seal vulnerable chimney-to-roof junctions across Fairmount and surrounding Philadelphia neighborhoods. Our experienced roof mechanics cut back deteriorated sealants, inspect underlying roof decking, and install custom-bent lead or copper step flashing and counter-flashing recessed directly into brick mortar joints. We apply modified bitumen tie-in membranes around chimney bases to create a durable, watertight barrier that withstands severe weather exposure. Sealing chimney flashing stops persistent roof leaks and preserves interior plaster ceilings.
