I have one single shingle dropped from the roof the past weekend. I googled roofing companies in McKinney and got this company. I called them on Monday, the phone caller shows as Performance Painting instead of Performance Roofing which is a bit strange. Anyway, they sent a person on Monday afternoon and did some inspections by sending up a drone and took some pictures. Confirmed that there is one shingle off and another place that needs to be tightened. That's it. No more other major issues. They sent me a quote today asking for a total of $950 repair cost. This is crazy for a small job like this with the material cost less than $10 and total working time probably no more than 30 minutes. They do have good response time. But such a predatory price from a greedy company. ----- Some follow-up updates When I received the quote, I indicated that it was way over priced for just a small repair. Here is the response that I got: - They have a minimum price to start (but didn't tell me how much) - I need to pay a whole pack of Shingles despite I only need one. - They need to match colors, blah blah, although my roof shingle is the most standard one as you would see in most neighborhoods - Their quote does not even clearly indicate the material cost and labor cost. It is simply some mysterious internal codes being used. Overall, this is some kind of greediness way beyond one can possibly imagine.

Hi Yabin, thank you for your feedback. Performance Painting and Performance Roofing work together as sister companies to accommodate all home renovation needs- from painting to remodeling and roofing. It looks like the estimate provided to you was for replacing all missing and damaged shingles throughout the roof and caulking and sealing all exposed nails. We would be happy to revisit your estimate to adjust pricing to replace a missing shingle. Performance Roofing provides competitive pricing and quality work backed by workmanship warranties. We would love the opportunity to further discuss your roofing needs and answer any questions you may have.

We contacted Performance Roofing to help us with a small leak. They were going to charge $450 just to tarp the roof and then come back later to repair. We were supposed to get a call when they were on the way. In the meantime we heard back …

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to clarify a few important points for accuracy. When you first contacted us, you approved emergency tarping at the quoted price so we could prevent further interior damage. Tarping is a temporary protective measure, and in many cases it’s the responsible first step before completing a permanent repair — especially when weather conditions are a concern. Our team was dispatched based on that approval. You mention that we “never received a call,” but also state that a call was missed and a voicemail was left. We did attempt to make contact prior to arrival, and when we learned that another contractor had been hired after our crew was already en route, we reached out to understand the situation. The follow-up call was not intended to “chastise,” but confirm our services were no longer needed before our crew was released. We certainly understand that juggling home repairs and caring for a young child can be stressful. However, once work is approved and a crew is sent out, we rely on timely communication if plans change. We stand by our pricing, our process, and our professionalism. Emergency services require scheduling, manpower, and mobilization, and we strive to be transparent about that from the beginning. We wish you the best with your repair and appreciate the opportunity to clarify our side of the situation.

They did a quick roof repair for me and unfortunately, it wasn’t great. Another storm came through and the roof tiles flopped, came off. Disappointed because the gutter job was done well.

Terrible workmanship, they left their debris over the new roof and didn't bother to dispose any of the old materials. One of the crew members was rude with my wife and acted like he was under the influence of drugs, do not recommend at all

Bait & Switch: Sales Rep. Dalton S. and Drone Operator Caleb E. seemed professional. The drone pix seemed like a great sales tool, but were emailed in fixed ~two-inch squares, not on a zip drive, so we couldn't enlarge them for any real …

We’re disappointed to read this, as it does not accurately reflect how our process works. First, our drone photos are provided digitally via email so homeowners can easily forward, store, and review them. They are high-resolution files; if you experienced difficulty enlarging them, we would have gladly resent them in an alternate format. We do not intentionally send “fixed two-inch squares,” and we certainly don’t withhold images. Regarding payment terms: requesting a deposit is a standard and widely accepted practice in the roofing and construction industry. It secures materials, scheduling, labor, and protects both parties. Your proposal to use a private escrow account is not something our company utilizes, as it falls outside our established accounting and project management procedures. That said, we did offer an alternative solution — completing the project in one day with payment due upon completion — specifically to accommodate your concerns. As for the contract, preliminary estimates often evolve as details are finalized. The final agreement is the governing document and reflects the official scope of work, materials, warranties, and legal protections for both homeowner and contractor. Nothing was removed deceptively. If there was confusion about specific line items or formatting, we would have welcomed the opportunity to review the document together before signing. We invest significant time providing inspections, drone reports, revisions, and consultations at no cost to the homeowner. While we understand you chose not to move forward, characterizing the process as a “bait & switch” is simply not accurate. We wish you the best with your project and encourage homeowners to always read contracts carefully and ask questions — which we are always willing to answer.

So...not the best experience...paid $900 to have minimal work done...but was given a " warranty"...roof still leaks and now they want me to pay another $1900 to fix what they already charged me to fix....if they couldn't fix it the first, second and third time time (but still charged me) why would I believe they could fix it?
Reply from the business
We’re sorry to hear you’re frustrated. However, your review leaves out important context. The original $900 service was for a targeted repair in a specific area of the roof where an active leak was identified at that time. That work was completed and warranted for the exact repair performed — not for unrelated sections of an aging roofing system. After returning to inspect your concern, our technician documented that the new leaking is coming from a different area of the roof. Unfortunately, roofs that are near the end of their service life can develop multiple failure points over time. A warranty covers the workmanship of the repair we completed; it does not extend to new problem areas or underlying structural deterioration that was not part of the original scope. We understand how frustrating ongoing leaks can be. However, each visit, inspection, and repair requires labor, materials, and scheduling. We have not charged you to “fix the same issue three times.” We addressed the originally identified problem and responded to subsequent service calls to assess new concerns. We always aim to provide honest assessments and cost-effective solutions. If you would like, we are happy to review the documentation and photos with you again so everything is completely clear.

I have 4 no solicitation signs on my front door, windows, and porch. Yet, two sales people decided to knock on my door.
Reply from the business
Juan, thank you for reaching out. Our team has a strict policy when it comes to soliciting. We DO however notify neighbors before work begins on adjacent homes due to possible noise and parking concerns. Please feel free to reach out to our office in the future with any questions regarding our installation processes.

Waited 5 hours after our scheduled estimate appointment before finally giving up and leaving as we had a lot to do today. At the 6th hour after my scheduled appointment, they finally reach out letting us know that they are about to be on site. Ended up cancelling. We will go with another company that can stick to their scheduled times, and or at least communicate with us that they will be late.
Reply from the business
Hunter, I sincerely apologize for the unacceptable delay during your scheduled estimate appointment and for the lack of communication on our part. I understand how frustrating it must have been and I deeply regret that my team only reached out after such a long delay. Your time is valuable, and we failed to meet our commitment to punctuality and clear communication. We’re reviewing what went wrong to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We’d love the opportunity to make this right—please feel free to contact me personally to discuss your needs or reschedule at a time that works for you. Thank you for your feedback, as it helps us to improve. We wish you the best and hope to serve you better in the future. Sincerely, Will Reid, Owner

Highly recommend! We had a great experience from start to finish. They were prompt, friendly, and easy to work with. Their pricing was incredibly fair—we paid around $1,000 for a repair that another company had quoted us over $3,400 for. Honest, professional, and excellent customer service. We’ll definitely use them again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others!

Awesome service. Zach was on time, very polite and kept me updated via text as job moved forward. Crew came EARLY, worked quickly and did a beautiful job restoring my 47 year old chimney. And because of their integrity, was able to do a restoration for several hundred dollars less than complete replacement. Thank you!

Zach was so respectful and polite. He followed up with me as needed and responded quickly to my questions/requests. Performance installed my roof a few years ago and it still looks fantastic. The gutter guards were much needed and they look great as well. I highly recommend them for any roofing related projects.

The communication was excellent, the price was very reasonable, and the service was on point. I would have no problem recommending them to family and friends.
