Very disappointed with the service I received. The gutter cleaner left debris all over my yard. I called and they came out and got some of it. Then I had an issue with how much they removed as my gutters still had items in it. I called and asked for a manager. The girl on the phone was extremely rude when she found out I had an issue. I asked when I should expect a call back and she told me she had no idea. 3 days later I was able to find the email address of the manger or owner. He was extremely unhelpful and gave off the impression that he did not care about my concerns for either the debris on the yard, the girl who was rude on the phone, or the left over debris in my gutters. The entire process was extremely unprofessional and frustrating. My mother had a similar experience of non responsiveness as well, which was how I was able to obtain the man’s email who is either the manager or owner. Worst service I’ve received on a job in years.

Dear Rachel, we are so sorry you felt disappointed with our gutter cleaning service. We have completed thousands of gutter cleanings for the past 27 years since our founding in 1996 and this is our first complaint about our gutter cleaning. We communicated with you via phone, text and email regarding your concerns in a professional manner. We had our technician return and pick up a small area of debris he had accidentally missed. We attempted to explain in several different ways that roof granules in the gutters is a natural process that the composition shingles shed into the gutters after every rainstorm (of which there had been several since the cleaning). The small granules will not cause a clog to the gutter system, only leaves and other large debris. We apologize that our service didn’t meet your expectations. Our customers’ happiness is always our highest priority. Please feel free to reach out if would like to discuss how we can make this right.

We had an appointment for a siding quote at 3:30pm today, January 18, 2022. Got an email message at 3:34pm from Ward saying, "Sorry some how missed this email." and suggesting a new time for tomorrow. My husband and I rearranged our work schedules and took time away from work to be available for the appointment today. When I let him know that this was the only day we were available to get a quote, Ward responded with, "Ok sorry we couldn't help you with this project". No apology for the inconvenience besides a curt "sorry." What Ward didn't know is that this is the first of several home improvements we are doing. Next is a new roof, then a kitchen remodel. We will find another contractor to take care of all of it.

    Reply from the business

This customer is quite mistaken. They did NOT have an appointment set with us for that time and date. They sent a request for an appointment at that time and were sent this message: "Booking request sent! Thanks for your booking. Looking forward to meeting you! Once we confirm your booking, you will receive a confirmation email" They never received a confirmation email because the request was caught by our spam folder, for some reason, and we didn’t find it until after the appointment had passed. I do apologize for that technical issue, but we have not had that occur before so were caught unawares. We proposed a new time but instead of just replying with some other options, they clearly stated that “I am not able to do this any day but today.” That meant to us that they had moved on so we replied “Ok sorry we couldn't help you with this project.” If they did clear their calendars with no confirmation email I am not sure how that can be our fault. We really enjoy getting 1 star reviews when the customer never met us, never got an estimate and we never performed any work for them. That seems to fit the pattern for our 1 star reviews. I am just so heartbroken that we couldn’t have worked with them on their future projects. I guess we will continue to work on the 15 estimates we still have to write and 3 months of work that is scheduled. Somehow, we will survive.

You also never called or left a voicemail.

    Reply from the business

This person emailed us asking for a gutter estimate. We replied to his email and left him a voicemail asking when was convenient for us to come out for a free quote. He never responded and then out of the blue left us a 1 star rating with no comment. We never gave him an estimate nor performed any work for this person.

I honestly wanted to believe all of the raving reviews about Kangaroo Contractors but our experience was far from anything we’ve seen posted. I reached out on July 17th to have our home we recently purchased bid for an interior remodel. They came on July 22nd and took measurements and wrote down all items I wanted completed. He told me it would be a week at the latest to receive the bid. I understood and said that was completely fine and to just let me know if there was anything needed. On the 29th of July I reached out and asked about our bid I received a response the next day...”Yes I am working as hard as I can on these estimates. However, I have 11 big ones to work on before I will get to yours. I have to do them in the order I receive them to be fair to everyone. It will probably be the middle of next week before I can finish it. Thanks, Ward” I simply responded with a thumbs up waiting another week. On August 17th (18 days later) I reached back out asking for an update and was given the response... “Sorry we got overwhelmed with work and leads. We won’t be able to estimate it for awhile.” So it takes over a month to receive a bid for work? What would I expect once they actually started the work? How long would that take?? Zero communication, zero progress, and poor excuses. Why is our project not important? I’d hate to think it had to be driven by anything other than work load...but I’ve never seen this happen with any reputable contract company. Sadly they lost a job that would’ve likely been $40-50k.

I am sorry we weren't able to get you an estimate in a timely fashion. We should have communicated better and that is our fault. We had a project manager and a crew chief get sick from Covid-19 and that really threw our wheels off. We also weren't prepared for the onslaught of work requests this summer, we are doing 10-12 big estimates every week. I really wish I could give whoever is in charge of this pandemic a 1 star rating on Google, who would that be?

Kangaroo recently did a partial roof re-do after a horribly botched job from another contractor. We were in a nightmare situation and Rob helped us figure out what needed to be done to stop the constant leaking. He was so informative, communicative, and overall patient throughout the entire process. Happy to report that after a big rainstorm, there were no more leaks! Kangaroo is our go-to for house projects, would highly recommend.

Beautiful work replacing the siding on my house. The two workers who came every day were friendly, polite and professional. I was extremely pleased with the finished product. My outside of my house looks brand new.

We just had Kangaroo Contractors replace 29 old windows, reside and paint two small dormers, remove attic flooring and add insulation above part of our home. They are easy to work with, offer reasonable pricing, and use professional and courteous workers who even clean up after themselves. And the Project Manager, Rob, is a great guy. I highly recommend them and may be using them again soon.

Kangaroo was a great help in getting our home repaired. They “negotiated” with our insurance carrier and got as much as we we entitled to, did the work on time and very professionally, and even found a couple of things we had missed during the original review. All in all, they were great. We would recommend them highly.

UPDATE Sep 2025: Older home gets a bit more attention from the weather. Back in May had severe storm that disclosed bad caulking on 2d story windows on north side and in turn allowed leak inside house. Also another leak from patio roof out back. As in past contacted Kangaroo and they fixed the problems. Nice to deal with same crew over the years as we both know what to expect from one another. New topic: the other day had an electrical company give a quote for possible upgrade our electrical panel. Contacted Kangaroo to ask for referral for 2d opinion. Reliable electrician came and had a look and said no change warranted. Save a lot of money. UPDATE: May 2023 we got hit with hailstorm (2d for this house) and total of four since moving to TX in 1979. We must be storm magnets. Anyway we went with KC for this hailstorm job and very glad we did. After we got the insurance appraisal we called them on scene. They did their inspection with a drone and contacted the insurance company. Final note Kangaroo Contractors got us a 58% bump in initial claim adjustment review. The adjuster left out a bunch of valid costs which Kangaroo got us the money. Sweet!!! The roofing crew is sub-contractor but follows the GAF Master Roofer Standards. The invoice was very detailed in what they would/would not do. So we had a signed contract before starting work. Weather permitting we a done with hailstorms forever but would call KC again. And for other remodeling jobs as well as the 25+ year old house ages. UPDATE Nov 2020. We have lost count of the number of home improvement/remodeling jobs KC has done for this house. The latest was to replace four outside doors after 22 years of use and wear and tear. The work was well planned and completed in short order. I have already told them of 2021 projects. We have been using their services for many years. They are my first choice for home repairs beyond my skill level. Especially if it means getting above the first floor outside or on the roof. Wi

When I reached out to Kangaroo Contractors, Ward immediately called and started fixing our problems. He gave me his professional opinion that was backed up by the other companies I called, had an answer for every question, and from what I can tell, he installs the best shingle there is with a fantastic warranty. Definitely recommend!
