  Bought a house from Tyler. He lied during the disclosure of what was wrong with the house. We asked them to remove the roof jacks and fix the siding, as it seemed inline with what they do for work. He refused to do either. He refused to clean up after himself and left a huge mess for us to clean up on move in(four garabage cans full of garabage and sewer pipes, sewage, and construction materials), which we had to sort out to not get fined by the city. There are also many corners that were cut on the inside(doors installed backwards, locks installed upside-down, door tracks cut short, shotty paint/plaster jobs, windows installed incorrectly, locks without keys). Left several ladders and wheelbarrows on the property. Our joke was everything was a little short. Inside the closets you can see the raw materials and exposed space. Like it wasn't completely finished. And the first floor cant get above 37°F... it appears that the furnaces doesn't work and he never disclosed that. He also used tiny screws into drywall to put up closest rods...use longer screws into studs. They will stay and support weight...as soon as I put something on it, it ripped out of the wall. They missed a downspouts on the garage. Anything we asked for Tyler to do, he pushed back on and tried to have us handle instead. I would highly recommend looking for another company to work with that is more personable and flexible. For a company that focuses on this stuff, not wanting to clean up after themselves is appalling. Overall, I would avoid this company like the plaque. Edit: scheduled an estimate with them to fix what work needed to be done. After three weeks my number was blocked, they wouldn't provide an estimate. The employees refused to answer any questions around how long an estimate took or if I could expect one. They said I needed to talk to Tyler, the owner. When I did he immediately went off on my calling me a liar, saying I was harassing him and his company(when I was following up on my

  Called for a quote... proceeds to get all my information, tells me they don't perform the service I need. What a waste of time. 23andMe needed less from me than they did upon the first contact.

  I rated them a 3 as they aren't 100% forthright in there sales. We had chimney stone work and tuckpointing on our home that needed to be completed. When they came for the estimate they noted that the mechanical chimney needed to be completely rebuilt and flashed and the fireplace had the same issues not near as bad. This was due to crumbling mortar, the crown on the fireplace was not built correctly and caused issues with water etc. We checked references, BBB, insurance etc. and decided to contract with them. All went fairly well the mason was very pleasant and was quiet and respectful of our property. It took about 1 week and things went seemingly well. Fast forward 1 year, we had the fireplace inspected and cleaned. What was revealed was a chimney fire and damage to include the crown of the fireplace was cracked. The inspectors stated the crack was due to the fact that the crown was not constructed properly. The mason failed to place an expansion joint around the flu which would have prevented the crack. What was also noticed was, the overhang was not quite enough and the thickness was thinner than required. Finally their mason did not place a water tight barrier between the crown and stone work. This also is not to code. I received the estimate for the chimney rebuild, which included a crown. I then called Modern exterior and advised them of the situation. They said they would come and replace the crown but will not re-imburse us for that work. I stated why would I want you to come and do this again when you aren't qualified to do it in the first place. (Which they should have told us that up front) I am a stickler for honesty, integrity and being forthright. If a contractor states they can do the work but does not even do it right, why be in business. I will never recommend them just for this fact.

  I can't speak to the quality of the roofing services provided by Modern Exterior, however due to a very unfortunate front door soliciting experience, I will not ever be considering this company for any roofing needs. I would normally not open the door, but I was expecting a package I'd have to sign for. When I cracked the door open, I was handed a business card, but didn't even catch this man's name before he informed me (not asked, informed) that he was going to "hop up on the roof" of my house to inspect the roof after "the recent storms" (its been two months, but sure). I declined, as 1) it seems like a major liability to have a stranger suddenly crawling around my steep roof and 2) this salesman stranger could damage my roof on purpose and then use that inflicted damage as proof that my roof needs repair (its the world we live in, sadly). When I said no, please don't, instead of accepting my perfectly reasonable response, this man condescendingly asked me "what possible reason I could have for not wanting a free roof inspection?" which put a pretty bad taste in my mouth. Then when I started to explain that I don’t even technically own the house to begin with, I was given an eye roll and a "forget it, have a great night" before this man stepped off of my porch. I couldn't believe I had been so rudely regarded throughout the entire conversation. This "hop on the roof" sales tactic is already shady and unsafe, and I don't know anyone who wants/likes door-to-door sales anyway if its not scouts selling cookies or popcorn. To be disrespectfully treated on my own front porch is the icing on the cake. I'd recommend reviewing your sales tactics playbook, and your sales training. I'll look for a respectful company if I ever need help with a roof.

  I had my roof repaired by this company for $1,200, but the same area started leaking again. When I contacted them, they said my warranty wouldn’t cover the issue and are now quoting me $749 to fix the exact same spot. I expected better service and warranty support.

  Hi Daria, If we did a roof repair on the area then we would be able to cover the repair for free if it persists. If its another spot on the roof that we didn't then that would not be covered. If you are interested in clarifying and if it is our work than it is covered! Call anytime.

  Asked for an estimate on some siding repair. It would require about 4 sheets of vinyl siding costing less than $30 at menards. The same siding as the rest of the house. Probably an hour or two worth of work. This was assessed at over $3000 dollars. Same job was assessed at $200 from another company.

  I had Modern Exterior Roofing install a new roof, gutters and gutter guards on my house. From the first phone call through the completion of my project their team of knowledgeable employees had been very professional. They kept in communication with me about the parameters of the job. Within 3 days (and this was a huge project) the job had been completed. Always available to answer any questions that I had. Will definitely tell friends and family about my experience. Great job!!

  We had damaged siding after a storm. Modern Exteriors was excellent!! They are honest, efficient and wonderful to work with. Their pricing is very fair! Would highly recommend to anyone needing exterior work!

  I did write a review but I never mentioned the people that helped me along the way. Jim Wendt is an amazing person and really took the time to help me achieve my goal of a new roof. He went above and beyond helping me. He answered all my phone calls at anytime of the day. The way he explained how the process worked was so seamless and kept my worries of the expense at bay. I wouldn’t have gone with Morden Exterior if it wasn’t for Jim. I appreciate him so much and he’s an awesome person to have working for you!

  I have contracted Modern Exterior twice now, once to replace my siding and again to replace my gutters. Both times their communication was excellent, their workers efficient and skilled and I was left completely satisfied with the results of both projects. I will use them again once my roof needs to be replaced. Can't recommend enough!

  We highly recommend this company for your home projects. We hired them after 4 other bids for our project to replace the 70 year old chimney cap and tuckpoint around the chimney due to years of leaking issues. They were the only company who took pictures of the chimney issues and listed in their bid more items that needed to be fixed than other companies. In addition they were very nice answering many questions before we picked them for our project. This company's price was in line with other companies, however, they listed more things that they would fix compared to others. Dustin and Estevan were very nice, worked great together as a team and were very dedicated to my project. They even ended up working until late at night to try and keep the project on task despite storms that came in. Dustin the lead was very conscientious about the work he completed. The pictures speak volumes of the enormous project this ended up being. They also found the leak problem was caused by a huge chunk of the flu being chipped out. The flu was replaced, a new chimney cap with proper overhang and rounded cap for water run off was created, as well as all the tuckpointing around the entire chimney. Amazing work and overall a great experience!!! Again, I highly recommend this company for your home projects.

  We contacted Modern Exterior after seeing several recommendations on Nextdoor to repair our garage fascia, soffit and roof following some extensive squirrel and wind damage. From the start, the experience was excellent! Mike came out quickly to assess the project and provided a detailed estimate shortly afterward. We received a few estimates, but ultimately chose Modern Exterior because of their professionalism, responsiveness, and strong reputation. Nick was also fantastic to work with, helping coordinate material delivery and scheduling so we could keep our neighbors informed. Overall, we were impressed by how efficiently the work was completed and how clean the crew left the area when they finished. The quality of the repairs was outstanding and the entire process was smooth from start to finish. We highly recommend Modern Exterior and will definitely reach out to them again for future exterior projects.
