  We are the Parkway Heights HOA in Knoxville TN, we were going to use MCR for all our roof repairs and future roof replacements since Cedar Management Group has you as a preferred vendor, turned out to be a big mistake. We first submitted several siding and soffit repairs, we approved 16 of those repairs to start the first of April 2026, not sure if Proficient Roofing is a sub contractor of MCR, it was a total disaster, so bad that we won't allow MCR on our property for any future repairs, as they never finished those repairs after over a month. Derek showed lack of care of our HOA, felt that the owner needed to be aware of this, as I have doubts any of this was communicated. HOA's beware if you plan on using MCR for any repairs or roof replacement.

  Had MC put a roof on my log cabin. Completed in one day. Then the problems began. 1. They put ridge vents in but never cut roof sheeting back. They returned and ripped off new roofing, cut the sheeting and re-installed ridge vents. 2. Upon looking at my new roof, I noticed my power attic fan was still in place. (I was told that would be removed because of the ridge vents going in). They returned and removed my power fan and again re-roofed that section. After a few days, I went to get in my attic of the main part of the house, and didn't see any light from where the ridge vents were. They came out and said, "we can't put ridge vents on because you have a 8 inch header! Their solution, install a power attic fan! Again they came out, removed the ridge vents on the main house, put cap shingles on. Then sent someone out to cut the new roof where the existing attic fan was and install a new fan! 3. Everything OK for time being, until it started to rain, then we started hearing drip drip drip over our woodstove. Yep, we had a leak! A leak in a NEW ROOF! Another call, this time they came out, pulled the roofing off around the chimney and used roof tar. ROOF TAR! On a new roof! 4. We start looking at everything and found they had put some aluminum style siding on one section of my house instead of using step flashing. Needless to say it looks like crap. 5. Next, a big rainstorm rolled through and my gutters started overflowing and running down the side of the house. I have gutter helmet on my house so how can anything plug it? Well, they remover all my gutter helmet to install the new roof, and then reinstalled it. I climbed a ladder and looked in the gutters, nope, nothing there. Ran water and the downspout filled up and not draining. I took it apart and found it FULL of pieces of shingles and round capped nails! I cleaned out what I could, but now my underground drains may be full of debris farther down, I can't tell. 6. They pried up my flashing on the rear of my house,

  Called bc I needed to get an estimate after some hail damage. Was told a drone would come out and be looking at my roof. I hadn't heard back from them so I called a week later to check in. Was told they would be out shortly. It's been months and I'm still waiting. Good thing I found someone else that was willing to come out.

  I didn't use them. So I can't really judge them? What I did not like, is that I left a message regarding gutters and chimney but they gave me ..and only gave me.. an estimate to replace the roof... and shingle roof,at that. VERY unprofessional, in my opinion. On top of this, when I had a 30 year metal roof put on, 10 years ago, they said shingles could not be put on, due the way it was built (in 1938).

  Derek never showed up for my roof inspection, nor did he call to tell me he wasn't coming. When I called and texted to find out what happened, they were very unprofessional. The person that answered the phone had extremely poor phone etiquette and should definitely not be answering the phone for a business!

  I live in a quadplex and we just had a roof installed by Model City Roofing. They were efficient and the roof looks great. The reason for my negative review is I had an antique planter at the corner of the house, I had to leave for an hour and a half to run errands and when I came home the planter was shattered and the roofers were nowhere to be found. The planter was not in the way and was only broken due to carelessness; also during the day I noticed supplies such as shingles being laid on the hood of my Jeep. I absolutely would NOT recommend this company.

  Model City replaced our black shingle roof a few months ago in early 2026. Derek Olterman, our roofing consultant, was amazing to work with from start to finish. He was punctual with appointments, transparent with the state of our old roof and pricing, and got the job done quick. His crew got the entire roof replaced within the span of one day, and we did not find a SINGLE leftover nail or piece of debris anywhere. Their cleanup was incredibly thorough, and the roof looks great. I would highly recommend this company.
