  Andrew came out and took photos of our home after storm damage. Didn’t hear from him for a week. I had to send him a follow up email, which he responded to saying he was working on our estimate. The next day he passed us off to a different company (haven’t heard from them yet) because Andrew is too busy. If you need restoration work done, try someone else. Huge waste of time.

While we always strive to respond and complete repairs as quickly as possible during storms, severe weather events can unfortunately create temporary backups in scheduling and service times. Andrew understood the urgency of your situation and, with your best interest in mind, attempted to help by coordinating with another vendor who he believed may have been able to assist you sooner. Unfortunately, we did not meet the level of service and communication that we hold ourselves to, and for that we are truly sorry. Please know that storm damage repair is something we take very seriously, and our team works tirelessly during these events to help every customer as quickly and safely as possible. This experience was not reflective of our standards, and we genuinely appreciate your feedback and patience.

  Terrible experience! I would never recommend Belk to anyone. They don't show up on time or on schedule. They did not inform me when the materials would arrive. They lied about working with my insurance company to negotiate a price and would not supply an itemized bill so the insurance company could negotiate with them. The itemized bill is a basic item that any reputable company would not hesitate to supply. save yourself a lot of trouble and money; do not use Belk.

  We are sorry that you were unhappy with the delays in your project we completed for you 7 months ago. In any construction (as in the roofing and siding projects we contracted with you). There are multiple reasons for delays that our our of our control. Such as weather, supplies (which is very common with siding), illness, vehicle breakdowns, and unexpected work at previous jobs. All dates are tentative, which is stated in our contract. Regarding the delivery of the materials we gave you an estimated window of time as these are delivered directly from our supplier and an exact time cannot be given. With insurance companies we only negotiate the scope of the work to be done. Which is what work will be done and that they agree to pay for. The scope of work was sent to you by the insurance company and was itemized by them, including pricing. They use xactimate which is an estimating program approved by your insurance company. We are not the insurance companies customer and they will refuse to negotiate prices with us and in fact we have no problems with the pricing stated in the xactimate program that they dictate that must be used. The problem was in the scope of work that they agreed to. Typically insurance companies use a "Hover software", or similar measuring software (by satellite), to get their measurements. In this case the measurements were off and they refused to pay for what they did not measure. It is often that these measuring software's are not 100% correct which was the case in your instance. Your insurance company stated that any additional square footage for the siding would be addressed and supplemented at the end of the project. We did in fact try to reach out to your insurance company multiple times via phone calls, with no response from them. Per our understanding you were so unhappy with your insurance company that you switched insurance companies after being with them for quite some time.   Disrespectful and shady. The rep showed up pretty much on time but took a look at the job (a 10x12 Dutch Barn) and within in 2 minutes blurted out that it was only worth about $5000 new, and he’d have to charge me $2500 to do what I wanted (overlay shingles and repair a damaged panel). He blamed inflation. When pressed for more info, he told me it would take two guys a half day at $20+ an hour for pay and about 12 bundles of shingles (turns out 5 more than it needed). I can do the math, that’s about $560. Add in the panel and some nails and maybe it’s about $700. If you don’t want the job, just say it! Then he looked at my house and asked about doing that. What nerve! High ball me on the job at hand and THEN try to up sell me on roofing my home. Finally, as he hurried on his way into his car (only just arriving 15 minutes before) he complained about how he spent $20 in gas for nothing. So, I did it myself. It took me about two days and cost about $250. I had them out to do some repair a year or so ago and the young man (the owner’s son I think) quoted me a good price and personally did a great job for me. Unfortunatly I'll be looking for my home to be re-roofed by someone else.

  Sorry you were not happy with our pricing but our costs have risen dramatically. We do not overlay shingles due to the fact that we can't check to roof deck and this shortens the life of the new roof.

  Melvin Belk replaced outr roof 3 years ago. It was a complete tear off. Now we have shingles lifting. Called them out to take a look. They came and said they would respond with a quote. Nothing has been provided. Called them several times. They say they will follow up but nothing. It should be covered under warranty. Three other roofing contractors have said Melvin Belk did not replace the flashing and there multiple nail holes in the flashing which has caused the issue.

  We are certainly sorry you have had an issue with the roof we installed on your home. When you called, we sent Kevin Rideout out to take a look. He was not made aware that this was a roof that we had done.He thought it was for a non customer repair/ estimate. We apologize that this happened. We talked to Kevin, he stated he had given you an estimate to fix the repair. However, properly, no charge should have been offered and the repair done under our 10 year labor warranty.I did not know that there was a problem, until Sunday May 2nd when I saw that you had posted a negative review. I immediately called my office manager, Jeremiah, and instructed him to contact you Monday morning. He called you Monday morning and left messages and we received a return call from you on Monday late afternoon. We offered to send a repair crew out first thing Tuesday morning to fix any problem. You stated you would get back to us on Tuesday morning, today, to let us know if you would be allowing us to do the repair. We have not heard from you as of 9:54am. We have left you another message and texted you, to try to come out and make the proper repair. We absolutely stand behind our work and honor our warranty, and are willing to do so. Once again we apologize for the initial mix up where it was not communicated to our repair crew that this was a previous customer problem and not a new customer repair.   Where to start: *Great install of roof, gutters and soffits-quality product and great installation *Clean up, I looked for hours but could not find a stray nail or old shingle-if it weren't for the new shingles I wouldn't know they had been at our house *Communication was outstanding. Text messages and emails telling what was going on every step of the project. Every question and concern we had was addressed promptly.
