Roof and siding were done . Roof was quick and appears to be done well. The siding is another story . Order for siding was clarified three times via email, contract and telephone and still, the wrong siding was delivered. We only noticed because we wanted to look at the color and realized it was wrong. This delayed the project 2 weeks on top of an already 4 week delay for the original siding order . Our house sat with no siding at all for those 2 weeks . Project was then completed with several areas that needed to be fixed . They showed up today and still not done right . In fact, while “fixing” one area , another was damaged . No one within the company communicates and this is why things are not done right in the first place . From afar, the siding does look good. However, when spending almost $50,000 at the company , you expect quality work. I would not recommend this company for siding and wish we had gone elsewhere . I guess hindsight is 20/20 but hopefully others considering melo for a siding project see this and choose to use someone else . Really disappointing to say the least 6/28-I would like to clarify that Noah(the project supervisor ) was great. And he was very responsive and did help however he could within his limits . I should have stated that communication within the company itself seemed poor and from a customer standpoint, it seems that it things are not relayed and can cause a disconnect between the customer and company.

Dear Kot family: Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you are happy with the roof installation and that it was completed efficiently. Regarding the siding project, we understand your frustration with the delays and apologize for the inconvenience. However, we would like to provide some additional context. The siding material selected for your project was a special-order product. While the order details were reviewed and confirmed multiple times, the incorrect product was ultimately delivered by the supplier. Unfortunately, because it was a special-order material, replacement siding required additional lead time that was outside of our direct control. During this period, the home was not left exposed to the elements. It remained protected and weather-tight with the appropriate siding underlayment and moisture barrier systems in place until the correct siding arrived. We also worked to offset some of the inconvenience by providing a credit toward the plywood costs. Our team has made efforts to address punch-list items and any concerns brought to our attention. We recognize that some items remain a point of disagreement, or miss commutation and for that we sincerely apologize. We would be open to meeting both parties at the house with our service tech and a manager if necessary so everyone’s on the same page. Communication throughout the project was conducted through multiple channels, including email, phone calls, and conversations with both homeowners but one more than the other. Unfortunately our system only allows one main point of contact. Also we were told to mostly contact one individual. Due to scheduling limitations on all sides, in-person meetings were not always possible. However, we remain willing to review all correspondence and project details together. We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and have one of our managers come to discuss any remaining concerns directly. At Melo Roofing , we view every project as the beginn

One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I would highly advise to go with a different roofer or you will be pulling your hair out. They will lie about how long you will have to wait to get your leaking roof fixed, once they get your deposit they will ghost you for at least 6 weeks. They will cancel your appointment at 430pm the day before even with bright sunny weather. They will leave 400 nails in your yard and when you ask them about the $1 per nail program they will say they never heard of it. Then they will leave a dumpster in your driveway for days after your roof is done. It’s insane that a company like this could stay in business.

update: Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations or ours. Things do happen but we did make it right. This was a completely not normal thing for us. While we understand your frustration, we also feel it is important to provide some additional context. The experience described in this review is not representative of the level of service we strive to provide or what the overwhelming majority of our customers experience. Throughout any construction project, communication is critical. When concerns arise, our process is designed to route those concerns to the appropriate team members so they can be resolved quickly and efficiently. In this case, there were communication challenges that resulted in delays and frustration, and for that we sincerely apologize. Regarding the dumpster, that equipment may remain on-site for up to three days following project completion. While we always attempt to remove equipment sooner, factors such as holidays, weather, equipment breakdowns, and scheduling can occasionally affect pickup timing. We would also like to clarify that no member of our team denied the existence of our nail program. The details simply needed to be verified before the concern could be properly addressed. We take jobsite cleanup seriously and work hard to leave every property in excellent condition. Reprimands did take place. Most importantly, your roof was completed successfully. While we understand that the overall experience did not meet your expectations, we remain committed to improving our processes and learning from situations like this. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and wish you all the best moving forward. - The Melo Team

My grandma financed a roof and they used old material and made it even worse then before. We called multiple times they ignored us said it’s not there problem. I’m in contacts with a lawyer and I called the better business bureau and the attorney generals office. They do not stand by their work and took advantage of a 67 year old lady. She’s still stuck with the 10k debt and her house is leaking more after the repair than before. Terrible service wouldn’t recommend!

We take every customer concern seriously regardless of age and encourage direct communication so issues can be reviewed fairly and properly. Our goal is always to handle concerns professionally, respectfully, and as promptly as possible. If calls or messages are left with our office, our team returns them during normal business hours. We understand that home improvement projects, especially those involving leaks, can be stressful and emotional situations. To clarify some points raised publicly, we do not use old or reused roofing materials. All materials are newly supplied through vendors such as Erie Materials and ABC Supply. We are also unsure if there may be confusion regarding the scope of work referenced, as the review mentions both a repair and a full roof replacement, which are very different types of projects. While we understand that frustrations can occur, we also have a responsibility to respond factually when statements may not accurately reflect the work performed. Like many businesses, we occasionally receive reviews that we believe are misleading or inaccurate and or fake but we remain committed to addressing concerns openly and professionally.

I would absolutely NOT recommend this company to anyone. Their pricing practices are completely non-transparent and, in my experience, predatory. I was hit with a $1,100 change order for removing cedar planks from my small front porch—what they called two “squares.” For comparison, shingle removal was priced at about $50 per square. This charge did NOT include shingle removal or new plywood, making it outrageously overpriced in my opinion, for work that took maybe 30 minutes- and I can guarantee the laborers were not paid more for that specific work to justify the cost. What’s worse is that they completed this work before clearly communicating the cost, leaving me with no real ability to refuse. Only after the work was done did they present this charge. When I asked for a detailed breakdown or unit pricing for the project and the change order, they refused or didn't respond at all. The contract itself was vague and unclear, and frankly would not hold up well under scrutiny. To make matters even more frustrating, the final payment link they sent lumped everything together with no clear breakdown- no transparency on the change order and no clear accounting of my deposit being taken out. While the actual crew on-site was efficient and professional, the company’s management and billing practices are unacceptable. This feels like a business model built around getting a foot in the door and then inflating costs once you’re locked in. They also left the dumpster and extra materials in my driveway all weekend- seems like the supervisor wanted to skip out early for the weekend while the crew was left to finish themselves and I was stuck storing their items until it's more convenient for them to take it away. Avoid this company unless you’re comfortable with unclear contracts, surprise charges, and inflated pricing.

    Reply from the business

Thank you for your feedback. We understand how frustrating and unexpected additional charges can feel. At the same time, we want to be clear that we do not perform or charge for work that isn’t necessary. When materials like cedar or multiple layers are uncovered during the project, they must be properly removed to ensure the roof system is installed safely and correctly. Situations like this are addressed through change orders when conditions differ from what’s visible at the time of the estimate. That said, we agree that all change orders should be clearly communicated and approved before the work is completed, and we are reviewing this internally to confirm that process was followed as it should be. Regarding the dumpster and materials, placement and timing are discussed and approved prior to installation as part of the project setup. We do apologize if the pickup timing caused any inconvenience and will address that with our team. We do appreciate you acknowledging the professionalism of the crew on-site. A manager will be reaching out directly to review everything with you in detail and work toward a resolution as this for us is unheard of. -the melo team

They are terrible. They trampled our landscaping and when I gave them nails I found in my lawn they said don’t worry they will pay for every nail. They did a terrible job and our roof leaked THIS YEAR.

Hi Lynda — we're very concerned to read this, however we are currently unable to locate your project in our records. It's possible there may be some confusion, as we take roof leaks and job quality very seriously and would absolutely want to address this if we completed the work. Would you mind contacting our office at 315-741-7049 or leaving voicemail with your address and approximate project date so we can investigate further? If the work was completed by our company, we would love help resolve the issue. Thank you

******* UPDATE TO THE UPDATE - HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE ROOF LEAKING EVERY YEAR SINCE MELO INSTALLED THE $20K + ROOF, CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES TO HAVE THIS CORRECTED, NO RETURN CALLS FROM MELO, RECEIVED ONE TEXT BACK STATING THEY WILL BE IN CONTACT TO SCHEDULE AND THEN THEY NEVER FOLLOW UP. ******* Update. The owner of Melo Roofing reached out to resolve the issues. Satisfied with the results. Roof looks great. Currently having my roof done by Melo Roofing. We had our appointment scheduled for 7:30 am Tuesday. I adjusted my work schedule to be able to stay home that morning expecting to meet with job supervisor to go over specifics of what’s being done before they start. Someone shows up around 8 who said he was with marketing but had access to the job info. He verified that our full roof was being done and everything (roof and drip edge) was black. The roofing team didn’t arrive until 10:30 am- at which point I was at work. I returned home around 5:00 pm to find the drip edge on the house white (which did not align with what was discussed that morning with the marketing person), my classic car in the garage covered with wood chips, debris and dust, garbage flying into my neighbors’ lawns, along with some other miscellaneous things. We did receive an email stating that Melo Roofing does “recommend parking on the street the night before away from the project so that you do not get trapped in your garage by the dump trailer or debris.” We don’t take the classic car out everyday so according to this email, we weren’t worried about leaving it in the garage- in our minds, protected. Nothing was stated that a car INSIDE the garage would need to be moved so it wouldn’t be damaged from falling debris. Again, maybe this could have been communicated had someone been available to speak with us before starting the project. From what we can see, the roof is looking good, but we are disappointed with the overall lack of communication and completely incorrect drip edge that we had

Misleading Pricing & Refusal to Fix Mistakes I initially chose Melo Roofing based on their quote, but the experience turned frustrating when unexpected surcharges appeared at the time of payment—fees that were never mentioned in the quote or during negotiations. Wanting to resolve the issue fairly, I gave them the opportunity to correct the mistake, but they refused. Instead of addressing their misleading pricing, they stood by the added fees, leaving me disappointed in their lack of transparency and accountability. If you're considering them, I strongly urge you to confirm all costs upfront and insist on full clarity before signing anything. Trust matters in home improvement, and unfortunately, this company didn’t deliver. Edit: It’s disappointing to see Melo Roofing resort to personal attacks rather than addressing the real issue: their lack of pricing transparency. I was given a quote, agreed to the terms, and was fully prepared to move forward—until an unexpected surcharge appeared at the time of payment. This fee was never discussed in negotiations, nor was I given a clear explanation beforehand. When I questioned it and gave them the opportunity to rectify the mistake, they refused. Their response here only reinforces the problem. Instead of taking accountability, they chose to misrepresent the situation and dismiss legitimate concerns. I encourage potential clients to ask detailed pricing questions upfront and ensure full transparency before signing anything. I stand by my experience, and I believe customers deserve clear, honest communication—something Melo Roofing unfortunately did not provide. I was happy to exercise my three-day right to cancel.

Hi Christopher, your review is libel& we would appreciate if instead of making up lies about our company, you write the entire truth. Potential clients, please read our over 600 plus other reviews& his is the ONLY one that makes such accusations, all because Christopher chose not to read his contract, or ask any type of questions about his form of payment. There was NOT multiple fees, but a surcharge for using a charge card(which many card companies charge a business). This is on Christopher's SIGNED contract(by his roof choice& in bold color), that he chose to ignore. He is upset that we would not give a cash discount, so he choose to pay by credit card& did not want be charged a fee. There was no contract to pay all in cash, or to even pay by credit card. He is the one insisting to pay by card& is upset that we will not waive the fee. We gave him the other options of paying by cash or by check, but he did not want those& we also went over his contract, but he became very hostile& started talking about how he had other options(which is also recorded)& would be calling them. Even though the contract is signed, we said we were okay with that& still tried to help him, where he then hung up& left us a one star. We can't help if someone doesn't communicate with us on their needs, or can't read the bold print on their contract. He is obviously unable to pay for the contract& is now coming up with an excuse to get out of it. We wish you the best with your project Christopher! Take care, Sheila
