  *Update: The company employee I worked with throughout this process sent me aggressive emails threatening to sue if I didn't take down this truthful review.* We hired Legacy Exteriors to replace our front steps, including taking out an extra concrete step and replacing our walkway. I came home mid-project to find that instead they made the extra concrete step bigger (and uglier - see photo) and didn't do anything to our walkway (though that wasn't needed now that they had just covered up the walkway with more unnecessary step). Stupidly being Midwest polite, I said it was fine since it was already done and as long as we got some money taken off the final bill, since they were doing the work wrong AND less work than we agreed on. When the final bill came, it was the same price as if they'd done everything right, which they said was because they'd done extra work on other parts of the project, though they never got my approval for extra work on this flat fee project. Ultimately after a lot of back and forth, they took $150 off the final bill (about 1.5% of the total invoice). Now, only 2.5 years later, the concrete work they did is crumbling - Legacy says it's "normal wear and tear" and I'm past their 2 year warranty (true), but our existing step that they added on to (plus all the other concrete steps I see) has lasted decades without crumbling. Now I have to pay someone more money to fix the work I never wanted in the first place or to do the work I hired and paid Legacy to do, but they never did. I did choose not to spend even more money by buying a longer warranty (I thought this ~$10K work would last more than 2 years, silly me), but I am still frustrated that this is the eventual outcome of accepting their incorrect and ugly work. All very disappointing (and expensive, for us) and very aggressive customer service, especially for what seems like a well-established company.

  Poor Communication and Unhappy with the Outcomes: We contracted Legacy Exteriors to replace our roof at our home, paying for a new roof, new gutters and new gutter guards. When we first contracted them we shopped around and saw they had a lot of positive reviews here. We asked them to "replace our roof." They gave us a quote and so after choosing them we signed our contract and paid our deposit. Once the roofers finally started working on it, in the middle of the work they all the sudden tell us that we also have to buy new gutters as our previous gutters won't work they say - even though they were in fine shape. This was disappointing as part of their job as contractors is to assess these things up front. Anyway, we were happy to trust them. So we trusted them and immediately paid for and bought new gutters through them since they were already working on our roof. Then they told us that it would be too late to install the gutters at that time so they would have to come back later. When they finally did come back to install the gutters they installed them with these very ugly metal straps that are on top of the roof, and do not look pretty at all. They told us there was nothing they could do. This is not true, as our original roof did not have these straps. In this case it felt they were not being honest with us and just trying to take advantage of us. It was simply because they decided to finish have the roofers finish without talking to their own team about what would be needed for the gutters on our house. We even offered to go back to pay out of pocket to redo the last few rows of roof shingles to install the gutters in the standard way without the ugly metal straps. They offered us a quote, which proves again it was possible, but gave us a bad deal on that quote. Ultimately the individuals at Legacy seem okay, but they do not communicate well and tried to push through to a finished product they know is not the pleasing final roof a customer expects

  Long story short, I just moved to Madison WI and purchased a home. The roof was all messed up, so I called this so called "company" to get a quote. The manager or who ever he was "male Caucasian " treated us very rude and not even answered our concerns, and referred to me & my wife as your people in a very racist manner. We are from Mexico and will never do business with a company like this.

  We apologize for the miscommunication around the roof repair job we completed per your request. I do want to acknowledge that we honored our warranty when you had an issue with your gutter system and came out promptly to adjust it without charge. In addition, because you were a previous customer, we took on a job that "no one else wanted to do", did it well, and then gave you a lower rate due to being a repeat customer. We take customer concerns seriously and work to remedy each situation and believe that the work that was preformed does not deserve your 1 star review. Again, we apologize for the miscommunication.

  After a few days of violent storms we ended up with major roof damage and water coming into the house. I called Legacy and had them scheduled to come out and tarp the roof until insurance can inspect it which is more than a week out. My appointment time came and went, they never showed up. I called and was told "oh yeah, I forgot to call you.. The techs aren't coming today, they were busy with other stuff". .. Okay so we rescheduled for the next day.. Appointment time came and went.. Didn't show up again. 2 hours after appointment time they called and said "the techs aren't coming today" they explained that "Our current, long-term customers are more important and take priority.".. "We might come out next week or the week after, let us know if you find someone else though..."
