I heard great things about Heins and they did a bunch of work in my neighborhood a couple years ago. So when I need work I called and set an appointment for a week later, got email confirmation, the night before the contractor even reached out to see if he could come earlier so we set a time 4 hours before my appointment. He showed up took some pictures then said he didn't know if they could take my job because they were 8 to 10 weeks out, he would have to run it up the chain. Later that day I got a text message saying that they couldn't take my job. Why didn't they tell me that when I called, why did he even come to my appointment. What a waste of time. I feel they should have just told me when I called that they were 10 weeks out and not taking new work right now. But my gut tells me they felt the project wasn't big enough.

Hi Karri- You had substantial tree damage to your home that needed immediate attention. As we mentioned at your appointment we are 8-10 weeks out from being able to help you. It only made sense for us to pass to you could find someone sooner to assist you.

I can’t tell you about the quality of their work, but they’re repairing the roof on my apartment complex right now and the workers have left trash all over the complex including on resident porches. The trash in question is empty cans, bottles, etc that were left (including in my bike basket), not the roofing debris that would be expected.

Hi Julia. We are mid project and still working at the complex on a 100 degree day. We are still in the process of cleaning up and are still on site.

Heins rep Derek came by to quote some storm damage and a possible gutter project. The high winds caused damage to our soffit/fascia but we didn't have much hail here. He started by presenting himself as a co-founder, which I looked up and …

Hi Nicole, please call me at 608-732-9067 to go over details of your inspection. I am sorry you didn't have a great experience, but we can guarantee he wasn't trying to make you feel like a "fool". 6" gutters are very common on residential houses and trending to be the norm especially on long runs like you have. 7" and 8" gutters are for commercial sized gutters. You are correct, Derek isn't a co-founder but he has been with the company for many years dating back to nearly the start of the company. We have hail claims approved in your area which is why he fully inspected your house when he came and saw the wind damage to your house. Derek took pictures of the roof that showed light hail damage and those images were emailed to your husband.

I’m fine with a business that wants to set a minimum project price of $5,000. What I’m not ok with is a company that I asked to come quote replacing a couple of basement windows coming out, telling me they’ll have a quote to me in a week or …

Hi Chris. We apologize for the missed communication on our current job minimum. As you said, we should have notified you right away of the minimum job amount. We are making sure that is added to initial calls now to help others. Sorry we missed the mark with you on this one. If there is anything we can do to rectify this situation please email me directly at bryan@heinscontracting.com . Bryan Heins

Not the best roofing experience. Poor communication on both sides added to a longer job. Adam and I did not get along. The roof is no longer leaking, at the end of the day that's all that matters!
Reply from the business
Hi Ben- Bryan Heins, owner, here. Unfortunately, things tend to be difficult once you start swearing at us while we are trying fix issues with your home. Before your project started you were very aware of the complicated situation with your roof due to multiple layers, a variety of materials, an old home, and the steep pitch. Both you, Adam, and I were on the understanding there would be a wide array of unforeseen things with your roof. We did our best to work with you through the unexpected. Despite all the hurdles to overcome we continued communication to ensure we could finish the project to your liking. Again, I apologize it wasn’t a pleasant experience for you, but we do appreciate you trusting us to repair your roof as we did.

What color was the truck? Update: Hi Andrew, We were able to determine who the driver was. We have had a meeting with that employee and taken action. Thank you for the feedback. Would you mind sending me an email to discuss this further? Brandon Heins Manager Brandon@heinscontracting.com

Only reason I gave them two stars is because they finished our roof in one day (we have a small ranch style home). Reminded foreman repeatedly that we needed both the invoice and pictures of our new roof sent to our insurance for rest of money upon completion. Neither happened; we had to the pictures and submit the invoice and pictures ourselves. I also asked to include new eves and downspouts. This never happened. Will not recommend them to anyone.

Hi Sue- As we have shown your husband Ed, we did invoice your insurance on 10/26/23 at 11:02 AM. The contract was signed on 10/21, roof was started and completed on 10/25, and insurance invoiced the following day. On 10/30 the balance due was paid and job was closed without question of replacing the gutters or downspouts. Prior to signing the contract you asked about gutters and downspouts at which time you and Ed were told it would cost more. You said if it costs more you would not want them done. The contract did not include any gutters or downspouts. We have asked Ed to have you call us multiple times to clear up your confusion on this but have not heard back. We were very pleased with Hein Contracting from our sales person DJ to the crew. They replaced our roof and everything from start to finish was communicated with us including material drop off and start times. We are very pleased with the job.

My siding and roof was demolished during the April 2026 hail storm. I got several quotes from contractors but the decision to use Heins was easy. I pulled the lucky straw and got DJ Burris as my estimator/client manager. He was super on top of communication during the sale and during the project, always followed through, and was so patient. He is just a very honest guy and was easy to trust. I was nervous that since they were doing so many houses in my neighborhood that they would never get to me but sure enough they came around the time that was estimated. The crews were WOW. So hard working, so respectful of my property, and did a super high quality job. Everything was organized and efficient. Heins also dealt directly with my insurance which was very nice. Very happy to recommend Heins Contracting.

Zach Tidd from Heins Contracting came to my home to repair a piece of facia that had blown off my garage during the latest wind storm. He was prompt, professional, and repaired it for me at no cost. It’s still hard for me to believe that there are still folks out there that will help a neighbor in need! Highly recommend this firm and the people that work there!!

Hein’s was a lucky pick for my roof repair from the hail storm. 6 guys worked hard in the smoke filled, high heat and finished in 1 1/2 days. The place looks terrific especially with the new ventilation ducts. They certainly live up to their advertising!

The work quality was top notch and they were very easy to work with. Project manager Hunter handled everything well and Rob did an excellent job making the process understandable and stress free even with some complications from an old house.
