Awful experience. They didn't do what they said they were going to do. They tried to change the price on us. When we complained they got their manager involved and said they'd fix it but they never did. It's been months since we heard from them. I now have to pay someone else to fix what they made worse.

Hi Vivek, we’re very sorry to hear about your experience, and we truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and we’d like the opportunity to make things right. One of our managers will be reaching out to schedule a time to stop by and identify any touch ups or adjustments that may still be needed, so we can ensure the project meets the standard you expected. Thank you for your patience — we’ll be in touch soon.

Average at best. We disagreed on what was to be done for the price. They are overpriced in my opinion for what they did. Their crew was sloppy. Next time, I'll go with someone else.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We’re sorry to hear that this experience didn’t meet your expectations. Our team works hard to deliver quality service and clear communication, and we regret if there was any misunderstanding. I didn't have the best experience with this company. I had a pretty simple siding and deck painting project. It required that some of the OSB under the siding be replaced. They quoted me at approximately 17k. I understood there would likely be additional charges along the way, but this is where it seemed to get pretty shady. Once they got the siding off, they had to replace more OSB than anticipated and a rim board (no surprise). The problem is that they had to replace 12 more sheets of OSB and one 20' rim board. They went to Menards, brought it back, and installed. The issue is that the materials priced out at Menards were $380. They charged me an additional $4,021 for it putting my price up to $21,000 instead. I understand there needs to be an upcharge for the company to make money off it, and that there's a labor component, but this seems way off to add 24% to the bill for 12 sheets of plywood installed and one 20' rim board considering the cost of the rest of the job. It felt to me like a "foot in the door" technique to win the bid and then hit you hard later. They then added $2,760 to power wash a small set of stairs for painting (apparently this wasn't included in the original quote which is odd), and a couple legitimate add ons which were simply painting the exterior of a door and a garage door. Again, I don't know if $2,760 is reasonable for this. All in all, I was quoted $17,000 for the job, and it ended up costing $24,000 - 40% more than quoted and it wasn't for huge findings like you get in remodel projects. The folks were very nice, and the quality of work is very good - however, they were a bit clumsy with scheduling and discombobulated. There were some errors, but they did fix them adequately. I didn't like the way they gouged on prices though. It doesn't seem like there's great ethics here when it comes to the business side of it. High Quality work, Low Quality Business Ethics.

Adrian We are sorry to hear you are upset with how your project finished up. Please feel free to call us at 608-497-3302 and ask for Ryan or Jaime. As a company, we are not believers in hidden add-ons within a project and we rarely have any. We work hard to quote a price that includes all costs, overhead, warranty and any risks that might come with the project. When we quoted your siding, we were not aware that there was any structural damage (wall framing, load bearing beams, rim joists, etc.) as this is very rare. When we found it, we immediately quoted you a price to do the work based on our best estimate, as we are not a carpentry company that does structural work every day. We also give you the option to decline and hire your own carpentry company just in case there is a better option. If our customer agrees to the quoted project add-on, we proceed with the work. Sometimes we lose money on quotes because the job is harder than we thought and sometimes we come out okay. We bid the add-on to the best of our knowledge, experience and risk associated with the add-on. Again, we rarely have add-ons and don’t often see structural damage. Since you had expressed urgency in the timeline, we try and accommodate the need and present price. We give the option for customer to decline and we will return when the work is ready for us to complete. If customer is okay with the new bid, we proceed as we did. Again, please give us a call, we are in the business of delivering top quality and experience and we do our best to create customers for life through value and trust. *eta: My house is very visibly made of entirely wood. They crawled up on my roof, no reason they couldn't have declined the project initially* Do not use this company for older homes or big projects. They will waste your time. Went through the whole process of quote, confirming the quote, paying the down payment, and picking the soffit color just for them to refund me and say it's too big of a job. Wish I could get a refund of my time and storm damage that happened while waiting for them to decide what they want to do. I was nothing but polite and understanding, that got me nowhere with them. I see in that time multiple jobs were done, and mine was just discarded since it was apparently too hard for them.

    Reply from the business

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and would like to clarify the situation. After our initial assessment, it became clear that the project required extensive carpentry work, which is outside the scope of our services. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We understand your frustration with the delay and communication issues, and we are actively working to improve our processes. We appreciate your understanding and hope to have the opportunity to assist you in the future under different circumstances.

I reached out to StormGuard regarding a roof leak in my 2011-built home, previously repaired by them in the same approximate area in 2020. We were given assurance that StormGuard stands by their work and should be contacted if any issues arise. Upon receiving a quote of almost $5,000 for a second roof repair, I emailed StormGuard to express my disappointment. This is part of the reply I received via email: "As I explained, your home is not designed nor built well. You have water coming into the home in multiple locations front and rear of the house as a result of a bad design and poor craftsmanship. Your home is currently leaking near the back right elevation roof that flows into a dead roof to wall area. Your home is also leaking on the front near a dormer and roof to wall situation. Your home walls are not flashed correctly with proper moisture barrier, allowing water to get into the house. You have water running inside two walls." "Due to the poor craftsmanship (and the roof design flaw) your house will continue to allow water to come into it until all flashings on the house are repaired, which will require all walls to be opened up and repaired. There was one damaged wall two years ago. Now there is a 2nd and a 3rd. There will be a 4th, 5th and most likely a 6th. It will not be a case of if, just when. As your ceiling shows, the flashing and moisture protection of the home is flawed. I understand this situation is frustrating to you, I would be upset as well. We didn’t design or build your home, this is where the flaws are at. I would question your home inspector and possibly talk to the sellers of your home. These are the people that would have known and identified design and craftsmanship issues when you bought." We sought StormGuard's help to address a roof leak and prevent future issues, even exploring a redesign. While repairs were quoted for the 2nd and 3rd leaks, the 4th, 5th, or 6th leaks were never brought up before the email response.

We had Stormguard out to do an estimate for replacing our windows. Justin Moseley came over and was very helpful and informative. We ultimately decided to pause on the project but Justin left a very good impression. Also had very quick roof repair done by Damon. Would recommend.

Great to work with Storm guard again! After the freak hailstorm that hit our area, we had multiple quotes, but after review we knew the right choice. Great work on the roof install and look. Timely work and even going the extra mile, patching a small stucco hole while they were on the roof. Highly recommend StormGuard of Madison!

Storm Guard staff were helpful through the process. Workers came on the date assigned and on time. Main Roof was completed in one day and clean up was done. There was a piece of plastic that some how got stuck 15ft. up in the tree in front of the house that was missed. I didn't notice it until a few days later. The secondary rubber roof was delayed due to material availability issue, however several days later staff returned and completed that process in one day. I have an issue with the house siding that was removed and replaced and was informed that someone will come by to address that issue in the coming days. I was a bit surprised with the jar of mini cookies that showed up at my door as customer appreciation. So far it has been a satisfactory experience.
