  We hired this company in June 2024, paying $9,331.79 for a promised durable, matching roof for our home in Central Oregon. Just seven months later during the first winter, our daughter’s ceiling began pouring water due to an improperly installed ridge vent system on a shallow pitch—an error the owner later admitted his crew shouldn’t have made. What followed was months of stress, poor communication, and a total lack of accountability and professionalism. The accounts below are of the repair process, after we had been paid in full with a new roof for 7 months. • The Damage: The leak saturated the insulation and OSB, displacing our daughter from her room for over 4 weeks and ruining her belongings and her art work. I work from home, and the disruption to our family was immense to say the least. • Poor Workmanship: The crew initially failed to secure the roof decking properly (leaving daylight visible through the wall on our daughter’s room). When they came to "fix" it, they sloppily held it down and hammered nails through the flashing into our trim, instead of fastening the decking to the rafters. • Mismatched Materials: Without our consent or a contract change order; or even explaining that it would look visually different, they replaced the damaged area with cheaper, lower-quality 3-ply material that didn’t match the front of our house and handles freeze-thaw conditions poorly. Only after weeks of fighting with the owner did he agree to replace the back half for the 3rd time with the matching shingles we originally paid for. • Hidden Damage: We caught their dump truck hitting the metal roof of our shop on our Ring camera. The crew tried to bend it back and never told us about the damage. • Customer Service: They tried to pressure us into paying for mold remediation caused by their leak. While they were impossible to reach for repairs or any sort of follow up with the situation, they called repeatedly and promptly to demand payments. Every job has hiccups, but

  Account Manager Dave did not return repeated (3) calls for a quote. Two weeks later he finally called, but our new roof was almost completed by another company.

  Roofing job was not an issue, but damage to the house that they said they would repair/repaint (when we had just had painted) from carelessness with the shingles were (after spending >$20,000). We have had our houses re-roofed more than once in the past, and we've never had damage like this (chunks from wood and paint) from throwing shingles off the roof onto our deck/railings/enclosures in multiple locations. Reached out to owner, who said he would have someone come repair/repaint, but after multiple times reaching out and months later, we finally repaired and repainted the multiple areas of damage ourselves. Would never use this company again.

  Crew was on time, very efficient. Only thing they missed was a cover for the heat pump, reinstalled heat cables and the DISH satellite dish which we did not expect. 😊

  I am so pleased with Deschutes roofing. Each aspect of the process was first class. The estimate process, the transparency and honesty with pricing, and the scheduling of the project could not have been better. But the process of getting the old roof off and the new roof on exceeded my wildest expectations. The workers were so friendly and considerate and respectful. They absolutely know their craft.   Deschutes Roofing was very professional, the estimater was on-time, the staff at the office was very polite and the roofers were very professional. There was no cursing, smoking, or inappropriate behavior on site. The roofers had amazing attention to detail and left the yard with no trash or debris from the roof. Deschutes Roofing did an amazing job on our new roof!

  Gabriel was very helpful in reviewing our roof options and the proposal to replace our roof. The crew from Deschutes Roofing were organised, efficient and worked steadily to replace our roof (with new ridge venting) in one day. Then they walked carefully around our property and cleaned up remaining debris. Supervisors checked in and updated us as the work progressed. We are very pleased, the roof looks great, and we've even received compliments from neighbors. Thank you Deschutes Roofing!
