  Edit in reply of Owners Message: Owner, I understand the need for breaks and OSHA rules - I am a Commercial/Industrial GC, and owned my own renovation company for a short time - being in the Trade as well, I understand these things, my Ring Camera footage that I have shows them all sitting and joking eating a late lunch, I came home for an appointment yesterday and witnessed them myself sitting and talking amongst themselves. Their minivan was parked in that fashion from 8:56:45 am till the left late that afternoon/evening... I understand the expeditious nature of replacing a roof on a dry day since my footage shows several sheets of sheathing being unloaded to replace damaged sections - and the heat index required breaks, my complaint isnt that they were taking a break, its that they treated my portion of the property like a breakroom (maybe a pop-up 10'x10' canopy can be provided to your field teams for breaks..)... so, please, dont think that I dont understand the plight of summertime construction. Completely unprofessional, workers laying on my yard taking a break... vehicle parked way into the road... trash over the ground...

Roof replacement is physically demanding work, particularly during the summer heat, and our crews are required to take appropriate breaks for their health and safety. The homeowner we were working on on your street had a very bad leak and with all of the rain coming this week desperately wanted us to install his roof and unfortunately one of our crew members up on the roof with the intense heat with a heat index of over 100° was starting to feel dizzy and nauseous and so the whole crew found what they believed to be a common area of the neighborhood and lay under the tree in the shade. They kept a vehicle close by just in case the situation got worse into heat exhaustion or heat stroke, and fortunately it did not. That said, break areas should be appropriate, vehicles should be parked responsibly, and jobsite debris should be continually managed throughout the project—not just at final cleanup. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. We are reviewing this with our production team and crew so we can address anything that did not meet our standards. Custom Home Improvements has served thousands of homeowners throughout Virginia and North Carolina, and maintaining a professional, safe, and clean jobsite is extremely important to us.   Thank you for the review. We are concerned you are not satisfied with your experience with our company. All the doors we offer are custom made & ordered and built out with the homeowner or our preference is with both homeowners if there is more than one and maybe there was some miscommunication here. The door that was built out is the door you were charged for and the one that was installed. We also had the tech who took the final measurements and showed you for a second time the door you order and we require the homeowner to sign off a second time on the door which you did confirming everything was correct. When we heard you were not satisfied with the door we offered two options keep what you have and receive a discount or the second option was the company would pay for a new door in good faith but only asked for the difference in cost from the door you bought to the cost of the door you now wanted, since you were not charged for a dual swing door in the beginning. You guys chose to take the discount and keep the door you original bought. We did this in good faith as we are an ethical company that strives for 100% customer satisfaction.   The job was poorly done. I had to have them come out and fix siding that fell off many many times and I gave up and started fixing stuff myself. Now I receive spam texts form their company addressing me as “Steven and Mary” and ask me to refer my neighbors to them. I honestly regret the whole thing

  STOP CALLING ME! I have asked 4 different people to STOP CALLING ME!! I don’t care if your system is on paper. I had you guys out 4 months ago, my roof is already replaced. I can’t even block the numbers because they keep changing. I can literally NOT recommend your company to anyone because I am SO annoyed. The sales person they sent out was very thorough and professional. We still ended up going with a different company 3 months ago.

  **UPDATE 08/20/2024 - I'm still finding horrible errors and unacceptable shortcuts, and I have spoken to 3 different company owners and managers about all of this, yet none of them provide a resolution. Don't believe the response from company below, it's another lie. I'm still having difficulty wrapping my head around how horribly this contractor disrespected my home and my family. Frankly, to add validity to this review and avoid further dealings with this business, I would rather come out of pocket to fix and finish their mistakes/mistreatment. They caused damage to my home that they won't own up to. There are unfinished final touches. The crew foreman treated me like I was a liar, and the production manager yelled at me on the phone. Now they won't return my phone calls or re-visit the property. On a positive note, the new roof looks good so far.

  Very smooth transition, professional and a pleasure to work with. Mark came by and did the measurements and gave me an estimate of the round about time of when materials would be available and install date. Chad and his crew came for the installation of my windows. They did an amazing job of install, once again professional and very respectful of the property. I highly recommend if you’re looking for great quality of work and professional service.

  We needed some trim coil replaced around doors and garage door. Mark started working and found some wood damaged above garage door and immediately advised us and replaced it with a new piece of wood and then proceeded with repairs. The job took quite a bit longer than he expected but he stayed till all was finished. He did an outstanding job and it looks terrific. I highly recommend Custom Home Improvement.

  We got all our windows replaced by Custom Home Improvements. They did an awesome job and I would highly recommend!!! The whole experience was great. The salesman, Terry, was very knowledgeable and professional, and not pushy at all. The managers, Mark and Efrain, have great communication and made sure everything ran smoothly. And the actual installation crew, Eddy and crew, were top notch! They worked hard, cleaned up super well, and most importantly, the windows were installed expertly and look amazing!!!

  We chose Custom Home Improvement to re-side our house in Chesapeake. Efrain Ortiz, Francisco and crew came to our house, did a wonderful job, and the new siding and quality of work makes the house look great. They were professional and work was exceptional. Efrain was a great communicator, immediately available, quickly addressed any questions or issues and we are very happy with the work. Efrain ensured we were completely satisfied with the job. Nicely done Efrain and crew!

  I want to personally thank Fransisco and Kimberly from Custom Home Improvements for recently taking excellent care of me and expediting getting an area on my soffit covered that leads into my attic. They both went out of their way at such a busy time for their roofing and siding department to get this done. They have in the past done my roof, siding, porch railings, and some additional work . I would highly recommend this company.

  Mark with Custom Home Improvements installed our storm door last year and we later had some issues with the latch…. I called Mark and he reordered the part and fixed the door. It looks great and it’s even easier to use now. I would recommend this company and Mark for any home improvements! Great communication and the office staff were easy to work with.

  Custom Home Improvement installed a white Porch railing system with turned posts on my house replacing an old starting to rot wood system. Mike(the estimator), Effren(the overseer), and Kim (the Installer), all did an excellent job from start to finish without delay, all dates and times were met. Kim most notably did a great install making sure everything was true, level and tight by himself without help. Clean up was awesome taking all the old rails leaving nothing behind.

  I am providing a 5 star rating to the team at CHI&R regarding the roof replacement for my home in Williamsburg, VA for various reasons. First, their responsiveness while scheduling the job was excellent. Kimberly at the office kept me constantly apprised of the challenges due to rain and storm forecast changes. Secondly, once the job begun, they worked very hard to finish a section of the roof before a forecasted rainstorm. Third, the supervisor, Rick Lesoine, was a constant presence to ensure that the team executed the installation according to their high standards. More importantly, he kept me informed at all times and answered all my questions with genuine interest and patience. Finally, they did a thorough job of cleaning up. I strongly recommend Custom Home Improvements for roof related projects.

  The pricing for window replacement was reasonable and competitive.All of the staff I interacted with were professional and responsive, including sales rep Gerry, project manager Mark, and installers Chad and Dylan.
