After reading the other reviews, I'm honestly not surprised on how my interaction with this company went today. Truthfully, I should've read them before I originally called but we will chalk that up to a lesson learned... And on a side …

Thank you for sharing your experience. We do want to clarify a few things, particularly the suggestion that we were attempting to take advantage of you. When our representative arrived, there was clearly a miscommunication regarding the type of roofing system you were requesting, and we apologize that your preference for metal roofing was not included in the appointment notes. Once the full scope was discussed, including your request to leave the existing roof in place, install purlins over it, and install the new metal roofing system over that assembly, our representative determined that this was not a roofing system our company was comfortable installing or standing behind. Rather than sell you a system we do not recommend or perform work we could not confidently warranty, we chose to respectfully decline the project. There are certainly contractors who install metal roofing using the method you requested. That does not mean every contractor is required to use the same installation methods or accept every project. Different contractors have different installation standards, manufacturer requirements, and warranty policies. The comments regarding the valleys and black metal were not intended to suggest that our installers are incapable of performing the work. They were meant to explain potential considerations with your particular roof design and material/color selection so that you could make an informed decision. Most importantly, your gender had absolutely nothing to do with our decision, nor was anyone attempting to charge you for unnecessary work. In fact, no contract was signed, no work was performed, and rather than try to sell you something you did not want, we declined the project once it became clear that the installation method you wanted was not one we were willing to provide. We respect your decision to find a contractor whose installation methods better align with what you are looking for, and we sincerely wish you the best with your roofing pro

I seriously do not want to bash a local business but we weren't done any favors. We called them to come out and do an estimate.for a roof repair. When he got there he thought we wanted a whole roof. Simple mix up. He didn't go on the roof and used a drone for a few minutes to look at it. He told us we would have an estimate that night via text/ email. That was July 2nd. After hounding the company and calling a few times the following week we finally got an estimate for an entire roof replacement on July 14th. We wanted the estimate for the repair and was told it needed a whole roof. The wouldn't give us a repair estimate. We called a local roof guy who came out , went up there with inspected the whole roof and certified it for another 5-10 years at minimum. It had a few shingles with rusty nails that needed redone and he cleaned our gutters. That was it... took him 15 mins and told us he would do a metal replacement for us since our house is small enough although he doesn't normall do entire roofs. Hes very relutable. Our thinking was if Champion was that busy or don't want to do a repair, then straight up tell us. We knew it was.4th of July weekend but almost 2 weeks later was unacceptable. We had already had our garage roof done by Champion so we don't understand why all the hassle for the house. Update: received a txt within the hour from the owner . This is a Saturday night at 8:08pm no less...(the business isn't even open) to tell us he didn't appreciate our review, that it's unecessary, and that he's short handed. All but called me a liar stating that hes been in business 30 years and he doubts anyone would certify our roof. Customer service indicates maybe if you want to address this review at all, maybe you call the customer when the business is open. Maybe you give the quote for the service that was requested. Previous here on google reviews have stated he can't take any criticsn and acts like a child. His reputation preceded him and was indeed correct.

Still waiting for them to at least return my wife’s call about an estimate for fascia on our house. Called about 2 months ago and still waiting.

Charles, we have no phone record of you or your wife calling us. Perhaps you are mixed up with someone else. If you do need a roof repair you can call us and we would be glad to help you out, thanks.

Arron installed a new section of roof and vents on my home a few years ago. His workers installed two 8" bathroom vents that had no Dampners on them letting air to just go in and out of the house unimpeded. I called Arron and questioned him about the vents not having dampners. He said they don't make 8" vents with dampners anymore. I checked with Lowe's of Altoona and they do make them. Told him he was not getting paid until the problem was fixed. He then hung up on me. Low and behold the very next day two new workers came and proceeded to replace the 8" vents with dampner style venting. Would not trust this outfit to do work for me again.

Hello Anthony, we do remember this issue that we had on your home. Ultimately we immediately backed our work and our word on the job and resolved your complaint, even though you were extremely irate and screaming at us before we could even recommend a solution for your problem. You were never told that they do not make those vents anymore. I think all this review shows is that we are a good company that will stand behind our work and do what is necessary to make the job right, so we thank you for that.

Tried to get a quote for a new roof, TWICE. But they never got back to me, either by phone, text or email. Two times is enough, I won't beg someone to make money off of me, there are too many other roofers available. So if you aren't in a big hurry or any hurry at all, be my guest and try them but I'd bet unless its a very small roof or your name carries clout they won't bother! 😕 Edit to response: It's a shame that you have no record of my name in your system. If that's true, which it may be, then you need to get a better system. My request was sent via your website, which I assumed would be functional in alerting you/your staff of a quote request. Your website, your link to "request a quote" and your bottom line rely on working communications. Remove the "request a quote" if you only want phone calls (just my 2cents). Sorry you have missed an opportunity for another local job but since the lack or or no-response I opted for another local source and have a signed contract. I suggest you test out the links periodically to ensure you aren't missing more business. Good Luck!

Scott, I’m sorry but we do not have your name in our system at all. All of our customers who call and speak to our office manager get ran through our CRM system. If it is under another name please let us know and we will get this resolved immediately. Second Reply: We get notified immediately of website quotes, and check them multiple times per day and have replied to all of them and still your name is not in our systems. Perhaps you had an issue on your end. Either way though we apologize for the inconvenience and wish you luck on your future remodel projects.

Way overpriced
Reply from the business
I'm sorry you feel we are overpriced but the quality and product that you get surpasses any of our competitors. Cheaper is not better in the roofing industry. Best wishes getting your roof replaced thanks for the opportunity! I will not apologize for my pricing. No small business should. My pricing allows me to make a profit. Which allows me to pay my bills. Which also allows me to stay in business. My pricing allows me to pay myself for the countless hours I work. I answer the phone both at 9am as well as 9pm. I’m truly never “off the clock”. My pricing keeps a roof over my head and food on my table for my family. I own a small business. One where the CEO personally tailors to all your projects. One where the CEO knows your name and truly cares about you and your business. I am not Walmart (a 500 billion dollar company). I’m unable provide things at the “lowest price”, order millions of units, and still stay in business. Im not the “cheapest”. I’m also not “the most expensive” but I guarantee professional work. My pricing is what it is to allow this small business to keep going which allows me to keep making a positive impact. I will not apologize for my pricing. No small business should. Thank you for your review!

We hired Champion Roofing in Altoona for a combined roofing and siding replacement. The roofing went okay except with some window case damage from dropped shingles that they repaired when I asked. They didn't use a lift trailer which many roofers do to prevent lawn and other damage. The lawn I don't really care about.Only 1 person on the crew spoke English and was poor at best. The siding crew showed up weeks later and immediately damaged the new roof in 2 places and left a safety device screwed to the new roof when they left. Attempted to talk to the crew about items we had in the contract but, only 1 member actually spoke English. Another crew they have..the actual family members was sort of a clean up crew. They would come back to fix what the sub contractors screwed up we believe. They purposely would install the wrong color mounting blocks on the siding for light and such then declare the job completed and then demand full payment. The contract states you pay the other half when completed but, I believe I held 50% of the vote...Champion roofing did not believe I had any say when the job was completed. Water hose penetration , ect was handled by joining the siding at the hose spigot and a pound of silicone instead of mounting J blocks. The silicone will obviously fall off by next year. A quick internet search shows you a picture of how it should be done...and this was a $25000 job but, they didn't do it that way " we just use caulking ". Both crews would leave cigarettes butts and discarded chicken wings in the yard which our young dog would then attempt to eat. No one spoke English to complain to that day. We had a large old aluminum awning removed and left in the yard and was told it would be removed..after 2 phone calls we had to remove it by ourselves at our expense. We was also told by the sales person we had one roof that would need ice guard over the entire thing because the pitch isn't steep enough. I didn't check to see if it was done...honestly I don'

Sorry to hear you are now unhappy. Multiple owners were on site at start, during and finish of job and most of these complaints were never relayed to us. As for "lawn damage" we did not see any and if you can provide photos or proof we can get that taken care of for you. And we never demanded full payment, we told you to hold 10 percent and when scheduled we would come take care of your concerns, which we did. We never claimed to be perfect, but we were always honest and made things right at the end, and you got a great warranty with the products and workmanship. UPDATE REPLY: all flashing is installed due to manufacturers specifications, flashing is not glued on, we sealed an over lap seam. We attempted to look inside to get a better idea but you couldn't be there and we responded with urgency. We also spoke less than 48 hours ago and told you we would be out this week to look inside and take care of any damages. Insurance simply doesn't cover "labor" which us why we never offered it. Your more than Happy to check out my certificate at any time. You also have my personal cell phone number so if anything changed in the last 48 hours you can call anytime. UPDATE: since you can't recall certain situations with people... let me refresh your memory, we ran the water house for 20 minutes on where said leak was as to all of our surprise there was no leak. After further investigation we found out the ceiling is asbestos and Dale was trying to minipulate us in to replacing his ceiling. So after all the videos and pics we can prove he is being deceitful. Also your willing to say you'll replace your own ceiling after it's been dry all summer and you think there's a leak? Seems suspicious.

Been waiting 3 months after signing contract Edit: contract signed in end of July 2021. Main roof completed in December 2021. Finished the job June 2022. Took them 11 months to do it Terrible company. Would not recommend. The over hang that way missed that took less than a bundle of shingles was also as I understood it supposed to have been re-sheeted. The men that completed the overhang stated "I was lucky it didn't need plywood or they would have had to charged me" Yet it was already paid for and didn't do what was agreed upon. Something else. During the main roof tear down. I wasn't able to ask any questions to the labors because non of them spoke English. No idea what anything looks like from the top. I guess I'm lucky to have gotten selected for a audit by the shingle manufacturer.
Reply from the business
It did not take us 11 months to complete your roof. Your overhang that consisted of less than 1 bundle of shingles was missed and you agreed that we could come back when weather was nicer to complete. Shingle manufacturer did come and inspected the work and got a 100 percent feedback.

The windy Pennsylvania weather played havoc on our roof shingles and left us with a need for a roof replacement. After receiving a ridiculously high quote from another company we approached CHAMPION ROOFING. All representatives we talked to were very friendly and knowledgeable about their product and the process of how the work would be done. There were no surprises. The quote was very reasonable so we awarded them the job. To our surprise they were able to get on in a week and completed the entire job, including clean up, in less than 3 days! We were very pleased with the work they did and will not hesitate to recommend CHAMPION ROOFING to anyone in need of a roof replacement.
