I don't think they were malicious in their poor work and follow through on our home, but they are clearly way too busy to handle the customers they currently have to be able to provide professional follow up when things go wrong. We reached out to have them do some work on a load bearing wall in our home. First, after reaching out, it took months for the project to actual start, so if you're needing work done quickly I would look elsewhere. Once the work started, things progressed quickly. The range of folks (electrician, dry wall team, etc.) who came to work on our home were respectful and tidy. Then a few weeks went by and no additional work was being done on our project. I reached out to the project manager who "didn't realize the project wasn't done" and arranged to come by and see our concerns about what remained unfinished/poorly done. Upon reviewing the work he was clearly upset with his team and said "this does not meet our standards and I will have my boss come out and look at it then will get to work repairing it." It apparently isn't the standard for this company that a project manager inspects work at the end to ensure it is done properly... Unfortunately his communication became almost non-existent after that. Members of his team showed up to our house and then said "I don't know why i am here can you show me what the problem areas are." It was clear there was no communication from the project manager to the team and there was no communication between the project manager and us. This happened twice with two different people. Some of the repairs were made and then we did not hear from anyone again for 2 weeks. We reached out and AGAIN the project manager who said "I did not know it wasn't done." He said he would send a contractor out to finish the work. They came, finished the work (sort of...there are still small holes in the drywall that we ended up patching ourselves) and to date (3 more weeks) we have not heard anything form the project manager.

The people who actually manage to receive an estimate from them (that isn't outlandish) seem very pleased with their work, but trying to engage with them has been extremely difficult. I had someone come on Tuesday, April 16th to give me estimates on two small and one large project. He was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. I liked his plans. He said he'd try to have an estimate by the end of the week, but then he was going on vacation for a week. I wasn't in a hurry and said when he got back was fine and he promised it would be first thing. I started calling roughly around May 3rd. It took three phone calls and being promised multiple times that the receptionist would "personally follow up" before I received my estimate on the 13th. For the one project, they were double what another local vendor quoted (quadruple what a private individual quoted). For the other, they were almost twice what I read online is high end of the national average and what a friend in construction agreed was an unreasonable price. They also missed the largest project. I emailed back the same day and asked for a materials/labor breakdown so I could better understand, and whether the estimate for the third project was still coming. Today is five business days later and no response. If they don't want small projects or don't have the capacity, I wish they'd just say that upfront rather than wasting everyone's time. Edited to respond to the company response: None of the delay would have been an issue if I'd been able to get ahold of the person creating the estimate for me, or if I hadn't been promised numerous times that I'd be called back only to not hear anything. The problem was that I was given timelines for receiving an estimate that were blown through repeatedly without any communication from CU Under Construction. There's far more information in your response than I was ever able to get while I was trying to work with you, and it irritates me that you're publishing informa

We were referred to Ryan (the owner). He was great prior to & even during the on site visit of our home addition. He said they could get the job done in 4 days. Just as someone else stated about having issues with the estimate, so did we. He said he’d have the estimate to us on Thursday, Friday at the latest (he came by on a Wednesday). We heard nothing so we reached out to him late Friday & he said it would now be Saturday, Monday at the latest. Of course, we heard nothing Monday so we reached out & he didn’t respond. We reached out Tuesday & he didn’t respond. Ignoring potential customers who are having to reach out to you because you didn’t adhere to your word is incredibly unprofessional. Communication & reliability are 2 very key parts in a working relationship, especially when you are entrusting someone with your home. If fulfilling the promise of an estimate is too difficult, how could they be entrusted to actually get the job done? What a waste of everyone’s time.

Excellent home visit for electrical review and estimates for multiple projects. After that it was less than acceptable. It took multiple phone calls and weeks to receive an estimate, that was not anything close to what was requested. We responded with our original request and never heard from them again. **Edit After posting this we received a phone call and an apology. An employee issue had been at fault and they resolved the issue. Offered to revisit our projects within 48 hours. Thank you.

We contracted with CU-Under Construction to replace our roof, siding, and windows and install insulation and a vapor barrier along with several skylights. We are new homeowners so we really appreciated their patience with us as we figured out what we wanted. Jarrod was great at managing the project and answering all our questions. Many thanks to the team!

Job well done! Since I do not remember the names of everyone involved, I am simply including "everyone" to mean the office staff, the sales staff, the project manager, the person that delivered the dumpster, the electrician, the carpenters, the plumbers and the flooring sales staff and installers (hope I didn't forget anyone). From start to finish everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, proficient, patient and kind. I had many questions and concerns along the way and everyone was always respectful and responsive. As the job progressed, there were a couple of unanticipated issues which were handled quickly, efficiently and professionally. I believe having all the trades in-house helped the job run smoothly, even when those unanticipated issues arose. I very much appreciate the efforts of all involved and would not hesitate to use CU Under Construction for future needs. Thank you all!

We recently bought a home that was built in the 1970s. The kitchen was in desperate need of an update. We decided to hire CU Under Construction immediately after our first meeting with the sales rep, Chad. There was no doubt this was a top notch company. Chad was phenomenal throughout the process. Our kitchen update was extensive involving removal of an external wall, a half bath, laundry room, dining room and a 2-room large kitchen. They also removed all of our baseboard heaters and installed a new furnace. Jarrod was assigned as our project manager. He was truly amazing. He communicated with us frequently throughout the project and always responded to us promptly. Given the magnitude of this project, there were many moving parts. Jarrod never missed a beat. He always knew the status of the project. Everyone involved in this project was extremely competent and professional. We didn’t encounter one issue through the process. It was truly seamless. Emily, the project assistant, worked with me one on one to pick out everything including the flooring, countertops all the way down to the handles on the doors. She was truly a gem. There were several selections I had to make that caused me great anxiety. With her extensive experience in this field, she was very familiar with all the various product options and would talk me through my selections quickly minimizing my stress. I honestly cannot say enough about Shaun and Corbin, the carpenters. These two guys were so easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable. Their carpentry skills are outstanding. There were several times throughout the project that they were faced with complicated issues that required the skill set of a craftsman. Without any hesitation, these two would put their heads together and figure it out. We couldn’t have been more impressed. Greg, the electrician, was also simply incredible. He was very personable, professional and competent. He was always thinking 10 steps ahead when working on our pr

Three years ago, we had C-U Under Construction remediate a major insurance claim on our condo. The unit above ours had a burst washing machine hose that steadily pumped water down to our unit. It was raining inside! C-U worked seamlessly with our insurance company and the other unit involved. Excellent work! Very professional! Fast-forward to today. We sold the condo and the buyers is asking us to look at an area of concern. Mike Randolph was out there the next day and quickly provided a professional assessment using the latest technology. To top it off, C-U did not charge for the assessment. Top notch! Recommendation: Hire this group for your next project!

CU Under Construction contributed greatly to a project at our office building in Savoy. The quality of work was excellent, and they shifted schedules around so that the work could get done within our timeframe. The painters were precise and professional. The carpet installers were great at their craft and willing to work over the weekend to get ahead on the project. The project manager was very responsive to my needs and questions. I would highly recommend working with CU Under Construction!

C-U has done two remodels for us in the past year--a bathroom and the kitchen. We're very happy with the results. They were a pleasure to work with from project conception to finish. We particularly appreciated Jarrod in project management, Chad in sales/supervision, and Ryan in electric--but every trade professional on our projects was skilled, capable, and friendly.
