  I initially hired Black Bear Roofing to replace my metal roof because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I’m not sure what’s happened with this company recently, but my experience with them was pretty horrible and it looks as if I’m not the only one in this boat, unfortunately (see other recent reviews). Things began well – Josh was great and very responsive when doing the initial assessment, going over options, providing the quote, etc. We agreed on a contract in early June. This is when the wheels began to fall off. Work was initially expected to start in late July. After many delays with virtually no communication, the installation finally began in late August. The crew that showed up was fine…except communication was a bit of a challenge given the lack of ability to speak English. I don’t blame the crew for that, but someone (supervisor, manager, etc.) should have been onsite or available to assist with that issue. More on that later. The crew begins work, only to find out hours later that inadequately sized roof panels had been ordered. Obviously, this halted work for the day. Annoying, but ok – I figured the rest of the installation (including gutters and snow cleats) would be finished within a couple of weeks once the right supplies were ordered. Fast forward to LATE OCTOBER and nope…..project still not finished. One issue after another and ZERO communication. Going back to the onsite supervisor/manager issue – call me crazy, but I assumed there would be someone quarterbacking the project that I could reach out to for updates, questions, etc. Nope. In fact, Josh (a sales rep, mind you) was forced to step in and address questions and concerns he knew nothing about (and rightfully shouldn’t have had to know about!). Apparently, the project manager nor the owner wanted to give out their contact information without expressed permission. I’ve never heard of anything like this. Project was finally finished a few weeks ago and, oh by the way, the property was l

  Hello David I apoligize for your experiance and would love the opportunity to make it right, We at Black Bear Roofing pride ourselves on customer experiance and making this process as easy as possible. Recently we have had 1 disgruntal employee leave several bad reviews. We generally pride ourselves on clean up and would be happy to clean up better for you. We have done thousands of roofs in WNC and the upstate and leaving one customer upset is unexcusable.   I try not to leave bad reviews but this needs heard. I chose Black Bear Roofing because they had good reviews and Trevor the contractor that did my estimate was very helpful with this process. He got me scheduled and the roofers came out. A couple of hours into it and I heard a huge crash and bang. I got up and went to see what happened and saw a huge hole in the ceiling. I quickly went out and got someone’s attention. One of the roofers stepped on the edge of a board and it broke and he came through my ceiling. Come to find out there was even a bigger hole in my closet. Insulation went all over all of our clothes. I texted Trevor and told him we had a problem and sent pictures we talked on the phone and he said to not worry it would get fixed he had a great drywall guy. Another guy showed up and said that somebody would be out on the morning to fix it. The guy showed up and started to fix the ceiling. I then saw him putting up broken board from out Faux beams in our bedroom. I told him that this was not ok. I tried reaching out to Trevor and got no response and the guy said he would get new material and let me know when he would be back. I have texted the drywall guy and got no response and no one from Black Bear Roofing has even check to see if everything was fixed and corrected. This is very upsetting that my home was damaged and they abandoned me.

  Black Bear Roofing would like to appoligize for this accident. We are just glad that no one was hurt when falling through the soft roof decking that had been water damaged from a leak. We have fixed the drywall. We are commited to great service and fixing any issues caused by our crews and we are so sorry this happened.

  I reached out to 4 roofing/gutter companies. Our budget was tight so we kind of had to choose the cheapest company strictly based on that. We weren't expecting much beyond basic service. However, not only were we pleased with the initial quote and service from the 1st meeting, we were blown away with the ultimate efficiency and service. Will absolutely recommend. Devin is who I would ask for!

  I had a small leak from all the rain this past week. I called on Tuesday (the day after Memorial Day) they were able to schedule an appointment for Thursday. Devin was fantastic. He identified the problem and fixed it the same day! Devin was professional, informative, honest, and efficient.

  Extraordinary service. I worked with Devin Nicely to have new gutters installed at my store in the commercial district in downtown Black Mountain. He was professional, easy to communicate with, and got the job quoted and then finished within a couple of days. Awesome!

  UPDATE: Our issue was addressed. A new crew came out today and completely replaced ALL of the screws with the correctly sized screws that were originally supposed to be installed. They also cleaned out gutters. I am not sure what happened with this company previously but I am glad they addressed the problem. We have an older metal roof that needed to have all of the screws replaced, some boards and sheeting replaced. Day 1, no one showed up as we were told. When someone finally showed up, it was a single person in a beat up personal truck, very young, that did not speak english. (Not sure how we are supposed to communicate with him.) When I complained, we had to wait several days for a crew (2 people) to come out, which was in an actual company truck. These people were very nice. I was told someone would be out to inspect the work when it was finished (because I asked if this was going to be done), which someone did. They said it was good to go. Now, a few months later, my husband is on the roof doing some sealing on the logs of our house and he finds all kinds of screws in the roof not attached to anything and he can turn them with his hand. I have reached out to the company rep and he said they "would send someone out ASAP." I do appreciate that, however for the extreme amount of money we spent on this project I should not have to be dealing with this at this point. I don't like leaving negative reviews, ever, but I felt I needed to provide some feedback. I originally picked this company because of the positive reviews.

  Needed a roof replacement, received at least 4 quotes from around they area. Black bear roofing and Eric came in at the best price for the scope of work for the job, he did not hid anything and was 100 percent honest in the quoting process. Their work was outstanding, efficient and clean. They went above the scope of work and installed a roof that I feel will out last 30 year warranty. Thank You Eric!

  From beginning to end, Black Bear Roofing has been top-notch. Joshua began the process and communicated so thoroughly with a step by step of how the replacement would go. He took time to fully inspect the roof for the estimate and even had someone come out on a Sunday to do an emergency patch. He brought a variety of options and colors for me to pick from and explained the pricing tiers in full detail. The whole team was punctual, professional and efficient. They cleaned as they went and made sure all the loose nails were taken care of. Joshua, Sally and Joe are phenomenal and I can’t recommend them enough. You can’t go wrong with Black Bear and would use them again without hesitation.

  Trevor was the roofing specialist for a dear friend, She was pleased with the way and professionalism he showed. They did repairs on main roof from damage due to Helen, replaced porch roof and gutters in October of this year. Pricing was fair and the work was exceptional done, they even took care to make sure nothing got into my Koi Pond. Will recommend Black Bear Roofing

  We recently (July 2025) engaged Black Bear Roofing to replace a brand new metal roof that was improperly installed by another roofing company from out-of-state. While a smaller company, Black Bear's size wasn't a detractor. In fact, we enjoy helping small businesses succeed. We welcomed their responsiveness and their field estimator, Josh, was terrific to work with. Josh didn't oversell or undersell what the company could (and did) do for us. We're thrilled with the finished product. The installation crew worked quickly and efficiently, correcting the plethora of mistakes made by the out-of-state roofers, while Josh advised us regularly on the progress, what was found, and how it would be addressed by them. Our overall experience is an A+, or an 11 out of 10, with 10 being the highest quality rating. And as a veteran, we received a 10% discount, which was awesome. We had no idea we qualified for a discount until Josh noticed that our card for the down payment was issued by USAA and we engaged about our different military service. He could've just let it go but didn't, demonstrating to us a terrific level of integrity, his personally and the company's as well. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company.

  We had a great experience working with Black Bear Roofing. After dealing with roof damage from Helene and our insurance company, we were ghosted by several contractors before finally getting in touch with Black Bear. Needless to say, it all worked out better in the end. Josh Honeycutt was a breath of fresh air and very communicative, honest, and knowledgeable every step of the way. We felt like he was truly on our side which made this situation much more pleasant. Even after we discovered a few things that needed to be touched up, he has been quick to coordinate with the crew and ensure that the job is done the right way and that all parties are satisfied. I would highly recommend this team to anyone looking for the right company!

  Black Bear Roofing did a great job getting a new roof planned and installed for us in Leicester. Josh was respectful, knowledgeable, reliable and great at communicating with us. The installation crew worked hard for seven hours and their cleanup was fantastic. Great attention to detail. I will highly recommend Black Bear Roofing to friends and family if the opportunity arises.

  Black Bear Roofing was a pleasure to deal with. They took the pressure out of getting a new roof. Great communication from Ben to get the ball rolling, and the process was painless. Ben patched the roof while our appointment was pending, and when Ben had a family emergency, Josh stepped in. Josh was also great to work with, and made sure I was completely happy before accepting final payment. They both answered any questions we had, and when the crew damaged some things, they both were quick to address any issues and made sure we were happy with the results. I would recommend them for roof repairs, and you can’t go wrong requesting Josh!
