seldom do negative reviews but this was a true disappointment. When I finally got them to respond as they closed for a week or two for the Holidays, they came out and I thought the wait was worthwhile as it was a good interaction. . a week …

We are sorry your experience left you feeling disappointed, and we appreciate you sharing this feedback. When we first inspected your roof, we explained that our schedule was heavily booked due to the time of year and the volume of projects already under contract. At the time you contacted us, we had roughly 70 jobs on the books, and we were transparent that this would impact scheduling and that we’d be working repairs into the calendar as availability opened up. After we received your signed contract, it had been in our system for 10 days (7 of those being business days) when you called back for an update. At that point, we still couldn’t provide a firm start date because our timeline was being affected by both the existing workload ahead of your project and the impending winter storm and dangerously low temperatures that make roof work unsafe until conditions improve. We understand that an open-ended timeline can be frustrating, and we respect your decision to pursue another contractor if you need the work completed sooner.

I’ve had a mixed experience with Abrams. The work was extremely slow, communication was non-existent, and I had to double-check everything. However, the final product was reasonably well done, and there aren't many other metal roofing options in the area. For this project, I opted for a full metal roof, gutters, and guards. The entire process took about 10 months: 5 months of waiting due to lead time, followed by 5 months of sporadic work. During that time, I was left with water damage throughout the house (underlayment problems), a huge mess with the insulation where sections of the old roof was kicked into the attic, improperly installed gutters (slope, overhang issues, leaking, and general fitment), and improperly sized & non-fitting guards. [NOTE: A credit was issued on the account for the water damage but it's still additional work that needed to be dealt with.] To Abrams' credit, they did come out to make some repairs. But in the end, it was easier to accept “good enough” and conclude our business than to keep chasing them about it. It would have been better to have the job done right from the start rather than relying on patchwork fixes, but that ship has sailed. Ultimately, they're not a company I would trust to do the job without strict oversight. If you have the time to double check everything, chase them around on repairs, and ultimately do a bit of the heavy lifting yourself, I guess they're an option but that really shouldn't be necessary. For me, after 5 months of chasing them around, I eventually gave up and opted to handle the remaining problems myself.

Dear Michael, Thank you for your feedback and for taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate your insights and want to clarify a few points regarding your project timeline and completed work. Before signing your contract, you were informed of our project backlog. We received your signed contract on November 29, 2023, and your material deposit on December 8, 2023. Materials were ordered shortly thereafter. Your project officially started on June 11, 2024, and the metal roofing work was completed by July 2, 2024, with a few rain days affecting the schedule. We addressed the gutter installation in early July. Upon inspection, we found that the water running behind the gutter was due to specific issues near the rear of the home rather than improper installation. To mitigate this, we installed skirting around your home on August 9, 2024. The changes made during the roof installation, such as the deeper metal edging, required adjustments to the gutter sizes, which we addressed by installing 5-inch gutter covers on August 23, 2024. We recognize the inconvenience caused by the water damage and provided compensation through an offset for the wood sheathing installed in your home. Additionally, we replaced the skirting on September 6, 2024, to ensure it functioned correctly, and cleaned your gutters and installed new 6-inch gutter guards on September 23, 2024. We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and appreciate your understanding as we worked through these challenges. Your feedback will help us enhance our communication and project management moving forward. If you have any further concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.

We needed repairs done to our slate roof. Abrams gave us estimate and had the work completed before the other company we consulted was able to give us a quote. We were out of town when the work was being done and they shared pictures with us of the progress. They did a beautiful job!

I am thrilled with my new roof! The guys were nice and did a great job. They finished up at dusk and didn't see some of the roof debris. I called them and they came back immediately to clean up in the day light hours.

They did good work and neat in cleanup. Just had to wait a bit from estimate to completion

    Reply from the business

Hi Sue, Thank you for the kind words about our work and cleanup—we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. This winter created a significant slowdown for roofing projects due to the holidays, winter storms, and periods of sub-zero temperatures that simply aren’t safe conditions for our crews to work in. As a result, several weeks of the season were lost, which created a backlog of scheduled jobs. We do our best to be transparent with customers about our schedule during the estimate and contracting process. With the amount of storm damage over the past year and the trust homeowners place in our team, our schedule can fill up quickly at times. We truly appreciate your patience and are glad to hear you were happy with the finished work and cleanup. If you ever need anything in the future, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Our business has had the same small leaks throughout the last 15 years. We have had 3 different companies try to resolve. Abrams' Owner came out looked at the leaky area of our roof and told me they could fix it. They said the previous fixes used non-commercial grade materials and they would have to re-do. The good news was the quote was substantially less then what we expected. Throughout the recent onslaught of intense storms and rain, we have not experienced one drop of water. Thank you Abrams for doing it right!!!

    Reply from the business

Thank you for your positive review, Peggy! We’re so glad to hear the repairs have held up through the recent storms. That’s exactly the kind of long-term solution we aim to deliver! It means a lot to know that our work made a difference for your business after so many years of ongoing issues. We appreciate your trust and the opportunity to finally get this resolved for you. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope to work with you again in the future!

Asphalt or metal - which roofing material is actually right for your home? Here's the honest comparison. This is one of the most common questions we get from Louisville homeowners who are facing a roof replacement. Both materials work well here. The right choice comes down to your priorities. Asphalt shingles: - Lower upfront cost - typically the more budget-friendly starting point - Lifespan of 15 to 25 years depending on product grade and installation quality - Wide variety of colors and profiles - architectural shingles give a dimensional look - Easier and less expensive to repair if a section is damaged Metal roofing: - Higher upfront investment, but a lifespan of 40 to 70 years - Reflects heat rather than absorbing it - can reduce summer cooling costs - Handles Louisville's wind and hail seasons well when properly installed - Minimal maintenance once installed The honest answer for most homeowners: if you're planning to stay in your home long-term, metal often makes more financial sense over time. If budget is the priority right now, a quality architectural asphalt shingle system is a solid, proven choice. We install both, and we don't have a preference - we have a conversation about what fits your home, your plans, and your budget.
