  I'd like to tell you about the workmanship... but I presume I'll never know. Thunder Bay contacted me about a project I posted on Thumbtack (?) and, in the course of one day, sent me twelve (I kept them, so I counted) e-mails asking for details/clarifications, and made an appointment to see the project on-site. Then, never showed up, did not call, and did not respond to my e-mail asking what was going on. At least I found out before I signed a contract.

  I would put zero stars if I could. They came to job without proper materials and said they would return never returned called owner said he would make it right. Never made it right. Don't use these guys.

  Nick, one of the owners of Thunder Bay, replaced my roof in April 2026. He did a thorough examination, including climbing onto the roof and taking many photos before preparing a detailed estimate. The estimate was in line with the other estimates I obtained. Nick emphasized transparency and clear communication throughout the project. His crew performed the work professionally and Nick came to my house several times to observe and supervise throughout the day and a half that it took to do a fairly complicated roof with four dormers and an attached porch. At he conclusion of the work, Nick and his crew did an excellent job of cleaning the entire work site. I could not be more satisfied with every aspect of the job. But, last week, in mid August, I noticed water leaking from a soffit. I texted Nick and he showed up at my house a few hours later. He inspected the area around the leaking soffit and found it as dry as a bone. We then went inside to look for possible water damage. Nick asked to go up into the attic to see what the problem might be without my asking. He determined that the leaking soffit was where the secondary condensate drain pipe from my air conditioner drained into the soffit. He further suggested that the primary drain for the a/c was clogged causing the overflow pan under the a/c to drain through the secondary drain into the soffit. The next day, the a/c technician came and confirmed the problem and cleared the clog, fixing the leaking soffit. I consider Nick's quick response, voluntarily going into a steaming hot attic in August, and finding the true cause of the leaking soffit, all to be above and beyond what I would expect from most tradesmen, but perfectly in keeping with Nick's commitment to quality service. I had not written a review earlier because I did not do google reviews. But, Nick's extra effort made me write this, the first google review I have ever written.

  My 31 year old roof needed total replacement. Got off to a little rough start, but the owner (Nick) came out and did an evaluation and visual. He later sent me a preliminary cost, in the end I choose Thunder Bay Roofing. No regrets!! Nick is a great communicator via phone and text messaging. He showed up on time, if there were any concerns he addressed them thoroughly and immediately (as long as the weather permitted). Whenever we spoke the expectation was thoroughly understood. I highly recommend Thunder Bay Roofing.

  After heavy rainfall in October, I found a leakage in the roof and decided to replace it as soon as possible. I searched for good contractor using goggle and from the reference of my realtor. I contacted around 15 contractors. All of them come to my place with their materials and most of them gave presentation (using power point). I got a good idea about this business by this which helped me to select Nicholas. He is an excellent person, not talkative, fully professional and gave me the exact idea about the roof materials, ventilation and their actual price, labor and installation cost. He finished my roof replacement by $ 5K where most of the contractor asked for more than 7K using the same materials and design. He finished the job within one week of signing of our agreement. After replacing the roof, he finished the inspection on time and handover warranty and other docs. I recommend the houseowner in MD to use the service from Nicholas.
