The short of it, they installed gutter guards I didn't expressively authorize. Caused issues of water overflow I didn't previously have. When called on it, tried to blame me for their mistake. Fascia metal replacement waves like a flag in a breeze. Left poor review, and company was more concerned with me removing review, than their mistakes. Was told they would refund charges for gutter guards and remove them. Neither have happened, I removed the guards myself. Owner response was passive aggressive and skirted any blame on their part. They will lie to your face. Longer Version (Below) Got a quote for fascia metal replacement (@50 linear feet) due to storm damage losing a short run, wanted the whole side redone for uniformity as well as other areas loosened by the storm, and a quote for gutter guards. One piece of fascia was blown off in storm. Agreed to all fascia metal (front gutter to peak to back gutter) replaced on that side of home and told them we wanted to hold off on gutter guards (SPOKE DIRECTLY WITH ERIC B). Not my fault it was not updated in work request. Emailed a date for repair by CODY (YES I did reply sounds good, because I was under the impression we were only getting metal on side of house replaced) CODY's email DOES NOT include work to be done. Their subcontractors showed up without calling, didn't make contact with me or ring bell. I was cutting my grass in the rear of the home and just happened to hear ladders going up. They didn't follow request I made at time of order (Direction of the overlaps do the wind direction at our home). They installed gutter guards I didn't ask for, which I had to pay for since they were already in, and hoped for the best. Gutter guards have created problems we didn't have before, water running over gutters in a place it never has overrun in our 11+ years in our home. Got up on the ladder to see what was going on, to find they had forced the metal A frame over the gutter guards, which caused a shin

Hello Jonathan! I have reviewed your entire file and it appears there are some inaccuracies with your statement. I see no communications within our CRM where you declined the gutter guards. It may be something that you communicated offline with Eric, but I cannot see that. I am more than happy to refund you the amount for the gutter guards and provide you with the benefit of the doubt. In regards to the photo that you submitted here on this review, I see nothing wrong or "shoddy" with the work we completed. The white drip edge/flashing in this photo is what's creating the cupping or separation of the shingles. We did not install this drip edge and this was a pre-existing issue. The gutter guards are not touching the shingles, making it impossible for the guards to be responsible for this cupping. After reviewing the photos of the fascia metal repair, I again see no issues with this repair. I encourage you to post a photo of that repair as well because I fully stand behind the way it was installed and looks. It is a repair and not a replacement. You cannot have a repair done and expect the repair to look like the rest of the older material. If you were seeking uniformity, a replacement of all the fascia metal would need to be done. It's unfortunate that Google doesn't allow for business owners to post their own photos in their responses to reviews like this, because I would gladly display the repairs that were done for you. As far as the scheduling concerns go, we emailed you on 4/7 at 11:18 AM with the scheduling information. You responded to that email on 4/7 at 1:44 PM, in which you replied "Sounds good. Thank you.". As a small business, issues like this rarely come up. The next time you work with a small business, I would recommend bringing up these type of issues with a manager of that business or even the owner and allow for the business to remedy the issues, rather than take to the internet without any discourse or resolution. Thank you for your bu

I had a very disappointing and concerning experience with this company, especially the sales person Curry. After requesting a roofing quote, I spent months trying to get a response. I was repeatedly given the runaround, with little to no communication or follow-through. What’s even more troubling is that instead of contacting me directly, they shared my personal financial information with my employer (who gave me the recommendation) —without my permission. This is a major violation of privacy and completely unacceptable. I called the financial department for this company asking for help with assistance for the credit application to include my spouse. They did not answer, I left a voicemail. I never heard or received a call back. At no point did I receive a proper quote or clear explanation, despite my repeated attempts to follow up. Between the lack of professionalism, poor communication, and serious breach of confidentiality, I cannot recommend this company to anyone. When they finally did follow up, months after the initial inspection, instead of contacting me directly (the customer), they called my employer and gave his side of the story without ever giving me insight on my approval status for a new roof. I emailed the company with my concerns and what they responded back with was “it would become a learning moment for said sales person” Do not recommend.

Hello Hannah! First, let me start by apologizing for the experience you felt. Fortunately for us, we have all communications saved in our CRM so lets go through what exactly happened. On December 1 2025, Curry came to your property for a roof estimate. After the inspection, Curry emailed you that estimate at 10:31 AM. You first viewed that estimate at 10:32 AM. Since then, you have viewed that same estimate 31 additional times. So when you say you were getting the runaround and that you never received a proper quote, I'm not quite sure what you mean. If Google allowed business owners to post photos in our responses, I would gladly show you the list of all the times you opened and viewed our estimate so that there's no confusion. Once we sent the estimate and you viewed it (what looks like 3 times on 12/1), you explained to Curry that you would like to apply for financing. We did the credit application and got the process started. The initial application did not go through. With it being so close to the holidays, you said you would reach back out to us after the holidays in regards to the financing options. On February 2 2026, you emailed Curry at 12:03 PM explaining you had your finances in order and would like to get the process started again. Curry then called you 2 times (12:07 PM and 12:49 PM) to try and help with your request. You did not answer the calls nor return those calls. The next morning on February 3 2026, Curry received a scolding text message from your boss who had referred us to you (we did not know you were an employee of his). The text message essentially was accusing Curry of not responding to you and giving poor customer service, which according to our records, he had given you top notch service to this point. After Curry read this text message from your boss, he felt the need to call him and clarify things. During the call, he explained the entire process so that there was no confusion as it pertains to the level of service he was provid

Sword replaced a skylight in my bathroom. They used a standard size skylight when they should have ordered a custom size for the opening. As a result the skylight did not fit correctly and I had flying insects getting into the bathroom. I was told by Velux (the maker of the skylight) and other suppliers that the job would have to be totally redone. I requested a refund from Sword of the payment I made for the faulty skylight. They refused to refund my payment. Velux agreed to manufacture the correct size skylight and have it installed at no charge.
Reply from the business
Hello Richard! We replaced your skylight in August of 2023. You contacted us in July of 2025 with a complaint of bugs in your bathroom. Upon the complaint, we immediately scheduled a callback inspection for the next day to investigate the issue. During the inspection, drain flies were observed entering the bathroom through your stand in shower drain and rotted, wooden window frame/sash. There were no signs that these bugs were entering your house through the skylight we installed. We recommended you call a pest control company for their opinion on how the bugs were entering your house (which you did not do). The skylight was not leaking and there were no issues with our installation. Because we are a certified Velux Skylight installer, Velux offered (to keep you happy) to replace the skylight at no charge. You are requesting that we refund you, even though you have been made whole. We take GREAT pride in making sure all of our customers receive outstanding service and quality of work. I'm sorry if you feel slighted in any way, but we feel very confident that this was not a SWORD issue and cannot refund something that has been "fixed", at no expense to you. - Justin Huber (Owner)

First impressions are everything, and this is a major fail. They use AI for their appointments, and I thought I was texting with a human. I specifically said I need my aluminum siding repaired, and made an appointment, took off work to clear my day for it. I got a text 2 hours before the appt time and the person said they don't deal with aluminum. I was going to ask for quotes on soffits, gutters, roof and new vinyl siding, but not anymore, they lost that business. Plus the tech should have called me vs just texting me about the cancellation. Now I have days of damaged siding in the rain when I could have called someone else.

Average service at best for a quick job they were way over compensated for due to their minimum pricing. Did not communicate well, work was subpar and mentioned fixing it, but never followed up. Went with this company because of the great reviews and was less than impressed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet the high standards we strive for. We understand how frustrating it can be when expectations aren’t fully met, and we regret that our communication and service fell short in your case. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and take your comments seriously. While our minimum pricing reflects the time, tools, and expertise required to ensure quality work, we understand that value also includes clear communication and follow-through—areas we clearly need to improve based on your experience. If you’re open to it, we’d appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further and see how we can make things right. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at 513-528-0023

I called Sword based on their great reviews to have some wind damage siding repaired. Due to the time of year, it did take them a while to get to me and I’m not faulting them for that. When they did finally come out and “repair” The siding it was done poorly and their excuse was that they were temporarily fixing it waiting on insurance adjuster and became very defensive. They stated that they could not find my Siding, but my insurance adjuster was able to find it. It seems as soon as they found that out they lost interest. They also missed a repair documented through text with pictures. They did come back and repair the missed siding they forgot, but again fixed it poorly. Poor communication. It seems like they were chasing a full replacement job, and if I was treated right, the first time they would have received my business. At the end of all this, it cost me $700. I did express to them in an email how I felt and all I received was a thank you for paying your invoice. I went with another company for a full siding replacement. Lesson learned. Pictured below is one of the repairs the second picture is a few days later after of that repair.

Hello Charles! I'm sorry to hear your experience with us wasn't the same as the other 274 reviews we've received. It seems like the expectations weren't set properly on our end. When we originally came out, you had suffered some siding damage. The estimator provided you with a repair quote. At this time, we did not know the exact profile on your siding. Once we did the repair, we realized that the profile on your siding is discontinued. At which point, we brought up the idea of filing an insurance claim. You told the estimator that you and your wife would discuss the idea of filing a claim. We continued to follow up with you but were never given any information regarding the insurance claim. The office should have never invoiced you for this temporary repair, so that is definitely a mistake on our end. Please give us a call at your next availability, and we'd be more than happy to refund your invoice.

We had our bathroom ventilation fixed by SWORD to vent to the outside instead of the attic. The scheduling is a bit of a process due to it being weather permitting so you really won’t know until the week of that you are next in line. Other than that I felt that it was a fair price and everything looked good. They matched the shingles perfect and let me know about other issues I wouldn’t have noticed myself.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear that the bathroom ventilation was fixed to your satisfaction and that you appreciated the fair pricing. We understand that scheduling can be challenging due to weather conditions, and we appreciate your patience. Justin is a true pro. We found our vent pipe boot leaking, so we reached out over the weekend to see if they had any availability to come out before the upcoming rounds of storms. Justin responded right away, told me when he would be available to come out, and stayed true to his word. From the initial communication, to arrival and completion, Justin was a true professional. I will not hesitate to reach out to SWORD the next time we need them; and you shouldn’t either.

Thank you for doing an amazing job. I appreciate it. You deserve the 5 stars. My only constructive criticism is maybe doing an extra run through of cleanup at the end. You left behind a broken garbage can and we have been magnet fishing nails the last few days. Its minor in the grand scheme of things. If anyone asks, I would reccomend Sword Roofing. Very professional and very great work. They are very fair in pricing. Im going to most likely ask them to do my gutters next. Thank you again.

Thanks so much for the 5-star review, Elias! We’re glad you had a great experience with our team. We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding the cleanup and the garbage can—we’ll definitely use this to improve our post-project sweep so your yard stays nail-free. It was a pleasure working with you, and we look forward to helping with your gutters next!

I cannot recommend this company highly enough. I’ll say upfront that I never imagined I would have so much to say about getting a new roof! We were preparing our house to move when we got the news every homeowner dreads: our roof was completely rotten. We received quotes from three companies, all of which were competitive, but this company immediately stood out. They were the only ones who used a drone to show us detailed images of the roof, so we could actually see the damage they were describing instead of simply taking their word for it. They told us they could start in as little as two days—and they did. As the project progressed, the news unfortunately got worse, but the company only got better. At every stage, they provided updated drone images so we could see exactly what they were finding. It turned out the entire wood decking beneath the shingles had rotted and needed to be replaced. I braced myself for a massive increase in cost because that’s been my experience with contractors in the past: the more damage they find, the more the bill snowballs into something you can barely afford. That never happened. Despite the additional work, they honored—and actually came in below—their original quote. I was honestly shocked by their integrity. In just two days, we had a beautiful new roof, brand-new gutters, and complete confidence that the job had been done right. The communication, transparency, professionalism, and honesty throughout the entire process were outstanding. If you’re looking for a roofing company you can truly trust, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
