Reasoning for 2 stars - Stubbs did repair a water leak we had in our back patio roof. For a job that took one hour, we were overcharged. When I called to have the invoice explained by material used/labor rate, they could not give me one. …

Poor experience, poor communication, poor follow-up....when I asked questions was insulted and accused of insuiating the individual was dishonest. I paid triple the estimate to get everything fixed right due to rotted wood and yet I an still left feeling very under impressed overall.

We're truly sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. This is not the level of service we strive to provide, and we regret that our communication and follow-up fell short in your case. I know that I personally discussed with you in great depth of the existing condition of your rental property prior to commencing. We conveyed that it could likely have 3/8" sheathing from the early 1970s era that is often delaminated and protected by multiple old layers of felt paper. We built back the roof system better then it was. The text communication about the decking issue with our PM was not aiming to insult you. We were just giving you the option of using new 1/2" CDX plywood which is a much better solution then what was existing on the home prior. We also attempted three times to diagnose a false reported leak by your tenants whom would never answer the door. I personally when there two times immediately upon your request of said "leak". No leak was existing as you later realized. 2-3 months after the work you reported to us we left a section of wood in the back yard. We responded quickly as well and conveyed that the crewman assumed the extra sheet of plywood left at the home was the tenants and left it for that reason. We did return and retrieve it promptly after you reported that was not the case. Lastly, we worked with you very fairly even with a deep discount on the extra 1/2" CDX wood. -Dustin Stubbs

Stubb's recently replaced the roof on our condo. Crew worked on the roof until 830 every night with no regard for residents. They left the job site a complete mess every day with hundreds of nails on the ground and parking lot and debris scattered everywhere. Very unprofessional

    Reply from the business

Hi Ron, sure hope u can appreciate that we work late because its 90+ degrees outside. My men can't work in the dead sun for an "8hr shift" and get off work by 4pm. We are battling a schedule with weekly rain delays, zero parking, zero lot line access, and a job where we have no direct relationship or even contact with the tenants like yourself. We have caution taped around our work areas which may have debris on the ground. Message me directly (Dustin Stubbs) and we can try to make alternative arrangements for your unit as we near completion.

Stubbs has damaged my ceiling during reroof. They did offer partial refund but it will not cover hardly any of the cost. Suggested I contact a specialist in panel roofs. I believed they were experts and that is why I hired them. 4 workers stood on an aluminum add on roof causing significant damage to ceiling. Reported 2nd leak on February 7th and they still haven't came out to fix it. Updated to add: they are now under investigation with Department of Business and Professional Regulations.

    Reply from the business

A tarp was installed February 8th, the day following the reported leak. At our option, insurance was elected so there was an unbiased 3rd party. We offered a full refund plus to remove the materials we installed even though the issue was a structure crack to the roof decking. A consequence of an aluminum structure incapable of handling the crew and material weight. A structure variable which could not be accounted for. Not the fault of clients or the contractor just bad luck/timing. Our cost to do this roof over almost 2 years ago was less then $2500. Client received a quote for almost $10,000 and wanted us to cover that. We had a top rated local specialist quote just under $5000 yet still could not reach a resolution to client. Two insurance adjusters have estimated cost less than $4000. We have rectified the potential future liability by not offering roof "over" practices any longer on this type of aluminum roof system. ****Also updating... no "investigation" with DBPR is on record (https://www.myfloridalicense.com/viewcomplaint.asp?SID=&licid=3537291).

I cannot recommend Stubbs Roofing. After Hurricane Michael dropped a tree on my house, they replaced my roof in February 2019. There were a number of problems, but Richard Brantly was outstanding and went out of his way to smooth things over and make sure I was taken care of. Unfortunately I did not realize it but they installed the shingles incorrectly around my skylights - they put the shingles OVER the flashing instead of UNDER the flashing and not a single person on the crew or the supervisors or head guys noticed. It wasn't until I was moving furniture around in the bedroom that I found extensive water damage and black mold. They came out and admitted the shingles had been installed incorrectly and claimed they would take care of all of the damage inside and out. They replaced the shingles and underlayment the next day, but I have gotten nothing but delays, not returned calls, unanswered messages, and everything else regarding the inside repairs. I am breathing black mold and an entire wall of my bedroom is damaged due to their negligence, and they are not responding to me. I have left innumerable messages for the president Dustin Stubbs who has yet to return a single phone call. The vice president Christina Wolcott has been incredibly UNhelpful - not returning phone calls, not responding to emails, flat out lying to me, even telling me that the damage would not have been this bad had I reported it sooner - like somehow this is MY fault. DO NOT USE STUBBS ROOFING!! Learn from my mistake! Hire a company that has integrity and follows through on what they say they will do, or, better yet, hire a company that does the job right the first time so your home and health are not damaged by their incompetence as mine have been.

Poor communication. Poor follow up. Poor value. It took a month and several calls and emails after the initial contact to get someone to finally come out and clean the gutters. The disorganized manner the initial appointment was handled should have been a red flag. After the service was completed I received an invoice for $180. I thought it must have been a mistake because I was quoted $90 for the first 3 hours by two different individuals at the company. Not $90 per hour. Their language was clearly vague bordering deceitful. I paid the invoice, because I was sent an estimate that I did not look at closely enough because of the phone conversations I had already had with two separate employees. They didn't even complete the job specified on their website that states an initial cleaning includes trimming back limbs off the roof line (see picture). If they had, it may have made the exorbitant cost worth it. Their service was bad and the cost was at least 50% or more higher than any other quote I received. $90 for the first three hours and $90 per hour for the first three hours are two very different quotes that have very different meanings. There was no offer to make it right in order to earn my business moving forward. It was pretty much too bad so sad. I paid the bill and will not be doing business with this company moving forward.

Lack of knowledge on certain types of roofs. Damaged my roof/ceiling The "vp"/office assistant remarked that they were trying to settle this amicably. No we had to file an insurance claim and will still be paying out of pocket for the.damages made by Stubbs Roofing. Feel free to write for pics.

Please see skewed 1-star double post by spouse. Google seems to honer both since they both have registered accounts. We have rectified the potential future liability by not offering roof "over" practices any longer. We are not in the business of irresponsible, poor, or unfair workmanship. We will still continue to make the best out of this one in a million situation.

We had a section of our roof repaired a few months ago. Stubbs was quick to get out and give us an estimate and they adjusted our poorly laid out tarp to keep the rain out. For the actual work they were quick, efficient, reasonably priced, and most importantly our roof no longer leaks. I would definitely reach out again if and when I need work done in the future.

Stubbs Roofing responded to my request for an estimate for roof replacement in a timely fashion and provided an excellent price for the work requested. The job was scheduled and completed quickly. The work site was cleaned well and the fence locked as requested so our great dane could safely use the yard during work breaks and overnight. Since I cannot go up a ladder due to previously breaking both my hips, pictures of the roof were provided to me via email as a courtesy.

The only reason I gave four stars is because there were some changes made to the quote. I was told that wasn’t gonna be that much extra but turns out it was almost $1700 extra which is more than just a little to me anyways but other then that the roof looks amazing and everything was on time and as scheduled!!! I dealt with Josh and he was wonderful. He kept me updated constantly and was very prompt on Reaching out to me For whatever he needed from me. I would most definitely recommend Stubbs roofing for your roofing needs for sure!!! Thanks again, Stubbs roofing for installing my new beautiful metal roof 😊
