  Called them from seeing them with a neighbor, and they come off very savvy which should have alerted me that they would be very high priced. Well, sure enough they were more then double what is reasonable and fair and what others charge. I cannot recommend them and feel price gouging, after a hurricane, was in effect with them. This really does bother me, that after a disaster that we had, we, the consumers should have to pay extra and above what is ordinary.

  Mr. Hewitt, Sonshine is always available to discuss the differences between our estimates and others that our customers receive. Most often, the reason for the differences lies in the scope of work, the quality of the materials, and the labor force being used. We also ask that homeowners be present during estimate appointments so that we can explain the work that we are proposing and answer any questions. You were not there for the appointment, nor was there another person delegated to meet us. Many of your neighbors have been relying on Sonshine Roofing since before their homes reached a year old. We began replacing the failing builder grade roof vents in your neighborhood prior to the hurricanes. The system that we install uses superior materials and installation than what was originally put into your roof. We are aware that other roofers are in the neighborhood trying to sell a cheaper system that is similar, if not identical, to the one that is now failing after only about 8-10 years. Sonshine Roofing is not going to offer an inferior vent system. We install a longer-lasting product and include a much better warranty. The price we gave you is what we've been proposing and selling in your community since before the hurricanes. As for the tiles that needed replacing, our costs to get those 2 tiles from the manufacturer was $500.00. The expense to order replacement tiles is ridiculous, and we have no control over that. Price gouging is a crime and it really bothers Sonshine Roofing, too. We have never participated in that shameful behavior. It's really very unfortunate that you didn't reach out to us and ask about our numbers instead of claiming something so ugly against us.

  The work they did on my home was less than professional. They repaired a large area due to leaks which leaked again and also glued 12 cracked tiles rather than replace them and claim this is normal. I don't see any other house in my neighborhood with tiles cracked with glue holding them together. I asked them to come back onsite to review the work with me and no response except an email stating they did what was required. I would not recommend this contractor.

  We certainly understand you're disappointed, it is never convenient when a person does not get what they expected. However, the work was completed as agreed with the previous owners before you purchased the house. Your request to change the scope of work we performed and to perform it at no additional charge, after you purchased the house, came as a surprise to us. I wish you the best. -- Amos Borntreger

That cost proposal outlined all included roof provisions and a full disclosure of our Terms & Conditions - all details upfront so that you knew what you would be paying for if you hired us. We work hard to educate our potential customers and help them to understand all that goes into a Sonshine roof. If there is anything we can do to fix this misunderstanding, please give us a call.

  Maintenance is deceiving - called to have new roof inspected and get quotes on maintenance and sealing. Showed up and said they don't seal roofs (even though they were told I wanted to do preventive maintenance).

  Our maintenance program consists of thoroughly checking a roof to see if there is anything that will cause a roof to leak or shorten its useful service life, as well as checking for safety issues. Fortunately, before we came to your home we found out that the work you wanted is not a service we provide. Our experience and education has found that sealing a roof with a paint type product is not an effective nor beneficial long term solution. We wish you well.

  Our tile roof developed a valley leak, Jeremy was out to inspect in two days and the repair was completed the next week, very please with SonShine's performance.
