Never heard from them after I asked for an estimate on gutter installation

Contacted Scott Roofing last December about a leak in 2 skylights. Then contacted them again in March to make sure that when the snow melted they could come by to assess the problem. In June I talked to them again and they said they could come by early July. When I again called and emailed I got no return call or email. Called several times with promises my contact would call me. Never happened. Would have been nice to have known they were not going to do the job in December so I could find someone else.

Employee from the company came into my work in his company truck, really just an unpleasant pile of trash. Wouldn’t do business with a company that’d hire people of that caliber.

Terrible service and incredibly rude! I tried numerous times to set up an estimate for a roof repair. I played phone tag with Justin, an estimator, I assume. He finally set up an estimate on Labor Day! I called back to inquire if they …

    Reply from the business

We were very upset to read your reviews of Scott Roofing, LLC. Clearly, we are not used to such a response as we do our very best to provide excellent customer service and to respond to inquiries and requests in a timely manner. When we researched our records, this is what we found regarding our interaction with you. You originally emailed us on July 28, 2018 at 5:29 a.m., which was a Saturday (we are closed on Saturdays and Sundays) with a request for an estimate. The following is what you wrote in the details section of your request, verbatim (available for you to review at any time, upon request): “I have a tile roof that shows evidence of leaking in one area and need repairs done. I will not be available until after September 10, 2018 and would like to set up an estimate for that time. Thank you.” On the following Monday, July 30, 2018 at 9:20 a.m., we officially wrote up the estimate request and attached a copy of your original email. We specifically noted and highlighted the fact that you would not be available until after September 10, 2018. We were willing to respect the time frame you outlined for us of your availability. Justin called you on August 30, 2018 to set up an estimate appointment for sometime after September 10, 2018, as you had requested. He left you a message at that point. The next day, on August 31, 2018, you called and spoke with Karen. You told her that you had been trying to get a hold of someone for over a month, but no one would return your call. Karen transferred you to Justin. Justin asked if he could come out to do the estimate on Monday, September 3, 2018. You agreed. Then, a few minutes later you called back to make sure Justin would indeed be out on September 3rd “the holiday”. Justin had not realized that September 3, 2018 was in fact a holiday. Thank you for bringing it to his attention. Justin is a very busy man, and just wanted to set up an appointment for you at his earliest availability, an understandable

New roofs installed. Contractor quality control is marginal. First problem was the color of the edge trim I requested white on the approved proposal the crew showed up with brown, fortunately I was home and showed the lead man the proposal after he told me his job sheet showed brown. He did correct by tearing off the brown and sending someone to pick up white. I had new gutters installed at the back of my house. The tear-off crew did not remove the old gutters. When the gutter crew showed up to install the new gutters, they tore off the old gutters but had notches in the edge trim from the old gutters. The edge trim now has notches in it. The simple coordination of gutter removal before edge trim installation would have made for a better watertight seal between the gutters and wood trim you expect to see with new gutter installation. Rather than cutting the downspout to the correct length, the installer placed it flush against the ground. I had a separate building roofed at the same time. Based on my conversations with the salesperson and the proposal provided, I believed that installing Cobra Rigid Vent was necessary to qualify for the GAF warranty. They did not install ridge vent on the separate building. They used a rigid cap instead. During the process, the duct work for my laundry room vent through the roof vent was torn. I investigated the attic to find out. I never received any discussion of the problem. The roof caps are mismatched styles on my two bathrooms. In summary I rated the contractor as average instead of outstanding due to what I noted above.

Scott Roofing did an excellent job replacing our 26 year old roof. Joe Hansen was great to work with and gave me a very competitive quote. His crew worked very hard and they were all very polite. Their attention to detail was evident. Overall, Scott Roofing did an amazing job from start to finish! I would highly recommend this company for your roofing needs. This is the second time I've used this company.
