  I wouldn’t hire this company again. The installers damaged my home. Electrical wiring was damaged requiring an electrician to repair the damage. Most of my screens were torn when they took off the old shingles. Tar stains were left all over the house from the removal of the old shingles.

  My 84 year old mother trusted Schmidt roofing to install a new roof on her small farm house in SE MN. It was an absolute nightmare. It took almost 9 months and 23 visits to complete. She was told repeatedly to pay before the job was completed. Fair warning to those who pick this company.

  Well, where to start? They were great...until they weren't. Everything started out great with them, Tristan was on top of things and took charge with the inspectors from the insurance company. He was great with communication, showed up on time and was friendly to work with. Then, when it was all approved and we paid the first check everything went downhill FAST. Communication stopped and if we wanted an update we had to reach out. We heard several times, "that's now my responsibility so I don't know," from a few people. No one updated us on a timeline for when the roof would be done, and then again when we waited for the siding. And when we tried to get answers it was clear the left hand was not talking to the right hand, in fact it seemed all hands were just plain tied. It was very frustrating. The roof finally was replaced and that was a relatively painless process, but we never talked with any kind of supervisor and the crews just showed up and did their job and left. All fine, it was done, and it turned out well, the crew was nice enough with any interactions. Then we waited for the siding to be completed, and waited, and waited and no one had any clue when it would be complete. The crew finally showed up and where they were nice it would have been great to have a heads up that they can cut out any bushes, tree branches, or anything else to do the job. I understand to a degree, but it would have been great to have some conversation that items would be killed at their whim. I think my bigger issue is there is no regard for any personal property. All of our landscape lights were trampled and destroyed. These lights were visible, and had we been told they would be in the way we could have made an effort to remove or at the very least cover with buckets for some kind of protection. There was not and has not been an apology yet for this damage. We did call to inform them at the time, and someone came out to look, not much conversation and no response. Tristan said

  I was considering a three star, but the absolute arrogance and lack of self awareness of the GM made me change my mind. (Ron Dickson) Three months of repeated unreturned and unanswered phone calls. Three weeks of unanswered emails. Twice a Schmidt Roofing employee came onto my property unannounced and without permission to address some concerns, one of those times we weren't even home. We have a skylight in our main bathroom and this random person was on our roof unannounced. This nonsense had been going on for four months at that point, how dare they place any blame on me for them, and their employees lack of communication, and then threaten me on top of it. (I withheld final payment because of the lack of response. They threatened to put a lein on my property for non payment.) The service and respect their non-sales employees have to their customers has been very disappointing. No part of me was interested in leaving any kind of review and just letting it go, after today, no thank you. Also, they unabashedly pay $100 per five star review on Google.. So consider that if you think about using Schmidt in the future.

  I asked for an inspection of my roof. They didn’t show up but said they did. They lied about it. Came in time for the insurance inspector but weren’t forthcoming about their error and left without letting me know any info. Businesses who lie cannot be trusted to be honest and do fair work.

  Wasn’t having luck with my first contractor so I switched to Schmidt Roofing. In my original phone conversation, was told by the owner that we would be scheduled two weeks out. That was then pushed back another week and another week and another week. I was always calling and chasing them for updates. They were never proactive about reaching out to me first about delays. Eventually after two months, they finally came to get the job done. Once job was completed, they came back within two days to collect payment. So, you push me back two months, and expect payment in two days after completing the job? Least they could’ve done was allow me two months to pay them for their job. Mentioned at the time of payment that we weren’t satisfied with how the front of the house was completed. Darrin (who’s apparently the owner and payment collector) stated he would send someone back to fix the front side roof the coming Wednesday. Wednesday came and went and still nothing. Reached out to Darrin for an update. Still nothing, but I guess he DID have the full payment already so why bother returning my calls, right? I had to email the office to try and get a hold of someone. Lo and behold, the next day, Mr. Darrin calls me scolding me about the dissatisfied email I sent the office. “DO YOU KNOW HOW BAD IT MAKES ME LOOK AS THE OWNER WHEN YOU WRITE TO THE OFFICE LIKE THAT!?” I don’t care how you look. If you can call your customers and yell at them, then I’m sure you do that to your employees too. You took my money, told me you would come back to fix the repairs, and tried to ghost me with no follow up. Darrin, if you’re STILL the owner, I hope you’ve cleaned up your act. I’m generally a patient person who doesn’t make many complaints, but I can’t get over the audacity you have to call your paying customers and yell at them for a job you failed to do well. In hindsight, I wish I did more homework on this company, but I would never recommend them to anyone I know. From my experience, I t

  Hello Soua, I am sorry your project did not go as quickly as we’d have liked and for any miscommunication or frustration you experienced along the way. As a family run business, service is our top priority. We always try to be proactive in keeping our customers up to date on where their project stands and when they can expect it to be brought to completion. I would like to personally work with you to resolve any concerns you may have and make this right. That being said, I would like to clarify the timeline. According to our records, the total time from when we agreed to take the project (9/22) to when we completed it (10/27) was 35 days. This included getting someone out to bid the job (same day, 9/22), applying for a permit from the city and waiting for materials to arrive (which unfortunately were delayed because of supply chain issues with COVID). Materials and permit were ready on 10/26 and the roof was completed the next day (10/27). Your check for final payment was received 6 days later on 11/2. This timeline is not unusual given the current disruptions in the supply chain, but I apologize that we didn’t communicate well enough through the process. As far as your dissatisfaction with the work, my notes suggest that you needed some caulking fixed, and we are more than happy to send someone out ASAP to take a look and make any necessary adjustments.   We hired Schmidt roofing to replace all shingles on our house, garage, and shed. They boasted a 15 year warranty on the installation. We noticed a leak in the Winter following the install. It had been very cold for weeks, so they suggested that it was condensation built up from our humidifier. Therefore, they dismissed this as a leak and never did visit our property. The next Summer during a good rain, water again began to leak in the same spot. Eventually, they scheduled a time to come to our property. The owner, Cory Schmidt, arrived and was very rude to my wife and indicated that he had no idea where to start but would schedule 12 x 12 shingle replacement around the area concerning the leak. We did not hear from Schmidt roofing until I texted him about 1-2 months later asking him when this shingle replacement would take place. Cory Schmidt, the owner, replied that he would check the weather in our area and get back to me. I did not receive any other contact from Schmidt roofing until I reported them to the Better Business Bureau about a year later. At that time, the owner, Cory Schmidt, created a few false stories that never happened concerning “our” property as an excuse for never fixing the leak. As of today, 4 years later, it’s raining again and we have several leaks in the roof of the house and I see a couple puddles in the garage. We will need to pay another insurance deductible to have this inferior install done correctly. So Schmidt Roofing provides NO WARRANTY, POOR WORKMANSHIP, AND DEVASTATINGLY POOR OR NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY! After contacting my insurance company to complain of the persistent problems with Schmidt Roofing, I indicated I would like to file a claim. One of the agents told me he knew Ben Schmidt, one of the other owners & told me if I deal with him, he would be willing to bet Ben will help me. Sure enough, Ben got his guys out there right away to take all the old shingles off on the pitch that had been leaking.

  I had a phenomenal experience with Schmidt roofing. Matt did a great job talking through all the possible options with me. It is very important to me to be able to trust a company and to not feel like I’m getting up charged or scammed. Matt did a very good job explaining everything we could do and why we would or wouldn’t do each thing. Overall I very much recommend them Schmidt and will be using them going forward

  I found out I had a hole in my roof and reached out to a couple of local companies. Matt from Schmidt Roofing came out right away and took care of it for a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend giving them a call for roof issues.

  We had an excellent experience with Schmidt Roofing, and we are so thankful for their help! We had a leak in our roof, and water was coming into our home. Schmidt Roofing was so easy to talk to, responded to us right away, and took care of all the paperwork and details so they could get started as quickly as possible. What really impressed us was that they were willing to take care of everything even on a Sunday. It had been raining all week, so we were very worried about the leak getting worse. My husband was sleeping and I was out running errands with our son, so we honestly didn’t expect them to come out and take care of it that Sunday. We were incredibly thankful that they acted so quickly and helped protect our home from further damage. We also want to apologize because we didn’t realize we had forgotten to pay them right away. With both of us getting caught up with work, we didn’t notice the envelope was still sitting there until about a week later. We truly appreciate their patience and understanding. Thank you, Schmidt Roofing, for the excellent work, quick response, and professionalism. We are very grateful for everything you did for our family. Highly recommended!

  We had a leak in our basement ceiling after it rained- after a plumber told us it was the roof we found this company and they were great! Response time was fast, they showed up when they said they would, and they explained everything in a version for a new home owner (me) to understand! Luckily, it was a quick fix but we know who to call if anything is needed in the future. - thank you, Matt!

  We needed a repair on our fascia. Had no idea who to call. I started with Schmidt roofing, recommended to me by Paul and they promptly had someone come out and repair it! The people in the office were exceptionally kind and caring. And the repair person, Matt, was fantastic! He was very nice, prompt, got right to work getting it repaired!
