  I really don’t like leaving negative reviews for local businesses, and I’ve waited a year to see if my frustration would fade. It hasn't. For a $31,000 investment, I shouldn’t have to look at damaged J-channel and messy caulk lines every time I pull into my driveway or sit on my couch. The sales team and communication were great, but the actual execution by the install crew was reckless. The lack of precision with the caulking left a mess across my home that simply couldn't be undone, making the entire experience incredibly stressful. After 4 return trips, I realized the follow-up work simply wasn't going to fix the issues. I eventually realized that giving up on the repairs didn’t mean I was happy with the result; it just meant I was exhausted by the process. I am attaching photos so others can see the quality of the craftsmanship for themselves. The owner was nice enough to offer a small discount, but I would much rather have had a clean, professional installation. I’m sharing this because while the people were pleasant, I am the one who has to look at this every single day, and for $31,000, I expected a much more professional result.

  Rebecca, We apologize that you feel you were left with what you say was an unprofessional result for your job. We were under the impression that you were satisfied after your final walkthrough with our production team when you agreed that you were happy with the final result. You went against our recommendations on how to fix the issues that arose. It was recommended to you to use tan colored quad (caulk) instead of the white as it would have matched the siding better. We even went as far as to do a sample window for you but you chose the white. You also wouldn't let us put trim on the inside of the home which would have given the window freedom of movement, which becomes an issue when we are replacing windows in a home with existing siding, some of which that wasn't installed correctly by another contractor (i.e. no water-resistive barrier around the windows). Ultimately, there were several things that led to some potentially lackluster finishes on our part on your job, but as you can see, after several visits out to your home to make repairs, some things were out of our control when a customer prefers a certain color or installation technique. As the expert, we should have handled the situation differently and not made it a recommendation and rather told you what the expert solution was going to be. Again, we apologize that you were unhappy with the final product and wish you the best of luck.

  Extremely disappointed with the service. The crew was unprofessional and careless, leaving behind a mess and rushing through the job. Within weeks, I noticed issues with my roof, and getting them to fix their mistakes has been nearly impossible.

  Multiple fixes were needed over the course of a couple months. Still dealing with issues. Seemed like they sub contract the work and it is supervised by a Rutter employee. Would not reccomend.

  Used to be a happy customer, had siding and windows replaced several years ago. Not sure what changed, but it seems like they really don’t care about their customers. I wanted another window replaced and someone came into my house to take measurements - 14 MONTHS AGO!! - and I still have not received the estimate for what I want. Over half a dozen emails and numerous phone calls, and all I ever hear is that someone can, someone will follow-up, but it just never happens. Not sure how they think that’s good for business. Extremely disappointed! Cannot recommend..

  Coated roof june 2020 which is now peeling and offered to recoat and charge me again.

  We are sorry to see you left a one-star review based on your call with our office. Per your previous contract for this work, the coating does not come with a warranty, as it is not meant to be a long-term solution but a defense against the sun's harmful rays causing further damage quicker. A roof that receives a coating will need to be re-coated annually or semi-annually, but timing can vary and on an as-needed basis. As we mentioned over the phone, we were happy to send a project advisor out to assess the condition of the roof overall to discuss a more suitable or permanent remedy for you and prepare an estimate for you, to which you declined.

  We had Rutter replace our roof and siding. We chose them because their bid was the most comprehensive. We were oversold and they have underdelivered at every step. They never did a final walkthrough, just cleaned up, left, and sent a bill. The roof was finished, but rotting, exposed wood was left with no flashing to cover it. They claimed the rake, which is a part of the roof system, was not part of the bid. Every time I look at my 'new' house, which should fill me with joy, all I see is that piece of rotten wood that will be a massive headache to replace now that the roof has been re-installed around it. We were required to install an attic fan as part of the roof's warranty. However, Rutter installed the fan in a place that is not accessible via the attic. So we have a fan that, left unconnected, will void our warranty. **edit to add, after this review was posted, Rutter got a solar attic fan installed, which does not require a wired connection. Never have I spent so much money to be left with such a bitter taste in my mouth. Would not recommend.

  I was promised by John to start the project (1 day of work) in 4 weeks. I was clear that the work needed to be completed before my house went on the market. Finally 11 weeks later I get contacted by Justin to schedule the job. But here's the kicker, I'm scheduled to sell the home in 6 days. There is no reason to do any work on the home. What a disaster of schedule and communicating. And guess what - the deposit is non refundable. Total disappointment!!!

  Contacted company after receiving a recommendation from a neighbor, had someone come out to provide a quote on replacing two exhaust vent covers in the soffit which were already there but needed to be replaced. The vent covers cost no more then $20 each and it would have taken no more than 30 minutes to replace both of them, we had assumed that there would be a charge for a site visit if they were to do the work but we received an excessive quote that makes no sense. This coming after the individual that came out to see what we needed stating that it would be super cheap to do and really quick, maybe it was due to him commenting on how big our home was that he thought he could charge anything and we would pay it. I know he said that they were 9 weeks out for the service, so they are obviously busy, but to give a quote that was at least double what it should have been makes no sense.

  I replaced my roof at my previous house years ago and worked with Horace. Everything went perfectly. I needed some minor repairs on my new house recently and once again worked with Horace. He remembered me from my last project and provided the best service anyone could hope for. He is responsive, friendly, professional and a pleasure to work with. Don't bother getting any other estimates for your projects, you just need Rutter.

  I recently worked with Rutter on several projects at my home, including vent installation in the attic and resurfacing and repairs to my deck. I had a great experience working with Horace, Chris, Tim, and their crews. They were all polite, professional, and attentive to detail. They performed high quality work, took care of all the details, and made sure everything was cleaned up afterwards. I appreciated this company’s professionalism and will definitely be working with them again in the future.

  We needed to excavate an area under our deck landing, and the landing had to be removed to do that work. Time was of the essence. The company doing the excavation recommended Rutter, and they arranged to do the work on just a few days' notice. Under the direction of Project Mgr. Chris DiLullo, Rutter did the work quickly and professionally. They even salvaged parts of the original landing for possible reuse. They hauled away the debris, cleaned up the area, and made everything ready for the excavation work. We were very pleased with Rutter's work and would recommend them.

  Great service and attention to detail. Shawn McCleellan managed the project and was on time, very informative, and the job was done flawlessly and quickly. Extremely satisfied. Highly recommend him and Rutter. Our our fourth project now with them and won't be the last.
