Updated Response: Hi Jacob, After submitting and resubmitting the paperwork to the utility for months, we finally got them to approve the PTO. When we reached out to you to give you an update, you said you didn't want to hear from us ever again. Regardless, we are here for you if anything comes up in the future with any warranty issues. Please send all communications to info@roofingrochesterny.com so we can get back to you ASAP. Previous Response: Jacob, we are sorry that the time to connect the system is taking so long. We have been resubmitting the information to the utility and constantly bugging them for updates. We won't give up either way!

Sharing my experience so other homeowners can make informed decisions. I signed a contract with this company in August 2025 for the roof replacement and solar installation, and paid a substantial 50% deposit. 8 months later they haven't done anything: no work has started, no materials delivered, no crew on site, and no building permit. The owner is MIA and has not responded to repeated phone calls or emails over several weeks. I sent a written request to terminate the contract and return the deposit. No response. I have filed a Consumer Frauds Complaint with the New York Attorney General's office. I am sharing this experience publicly so other homeowners considering this contractor have the information I wish I had before signing.

    Reply from the business

Artem, we sincerely apologize for the delay and understand your frustration. Waiting this long after signing a contract and making a significant deposit is not the experience we want any customer to have. Your project has been delayed due to a substantial backlog with the Tesla solar roof installations that have taken longer than anticipated. The harsh winter has affected our typical 6-month turnaround time. While that is not the level of turnaround we strive for, we want to be transparent that this has been the primary reason for the delay. Concerning our refund policy, we usually aren't that strict, but with the Tesla Solar Roof materials, once we purchase them for a job, they are specific to your house design and solar needs. We, unfortunately, are not able to return these materials back to the distributor SRS Distribution. This was brought to your attention before we ever received your deposit. We remain committed to working with you toward a resolution. Our team will be reaching out directly to provide a clear update and discuss next steps. We appreciate your patience and the opportunity to address your concerns.

Potential customers beware: Roofing Rochester removed ice damming from our roof in February 2025, which caused a leak, interior damage, and mold requiring repairs to our kitchen/dining room. We also replaced a large portion of the roof. They quoted $9k for a Cold Roof System to prevent future ice damming, guaranteeing a commercial-grade membrane over the cricketed area, extending 3 feet up the connecting roof and at least 12 inches up all roof-to-wall transitions to create a watertight system capable of handling ponding or backup. Work was completed in June 2025. We raised concerns with the project manager Ed about one area but were assured it would be "water tight." We then invested an additional $70k with another contractor to renovate the interior. On February 5, 2026, ice damming and a leak occurred again in the exact same area. We contacted Roofing Rochester and spoke with Andray, who charged $1,200 for ice removal (discounted from $2,200). Without inspecting the roof, he blamed insufficient insulation rather than the Cold Roof System, despite our original contract stating the roof cavities were full of insulation. After requesting an in person inspection, we were told we'd be prioritized once weather allowed. Despite at least 10 clear days, no follow up or inspection occurred. Follow-up only happened when we repeatedly contacted Andray, who seemed unfamiliar with our case each time. On March 2, we were told scheduling was in progress. We requested a manager or owner inspect the work given our concerns. On March 10 when we called to follow up, we were told the owner was out of town. On March 13, the original project manager Ed reached out to inspect alone, which we declined given that he has supervised the previous work. Multiple calls requesting the owner went unreturned. However, after I filed a complaint with the BBB he responded to that with multiple inaccuracies about the events I detailed above, including that THEY told us an in person inspection was nece

Katie, I know it's heartbreaking to have a $70k project be affected by a roof leak after you thought you did the right thing by installing the best venting system available! The work we did there usually causes a massive difference in areas that don't have ventilation. Usually, ice dams disappear and rooms cool down, but in your situation, the state-of-the-art ventilation system didn't make those issues disappear. I know that the roof wasn't an issue and there were no leaks before the ice dams. But unfortunately, ice dams are caused by two things. One is ventilation; the other is insulation. If the contractor that was working inside created a gap in the insulation in any of the areas under the vented area, the heat loss would still travel into the roof at a rate at which the ventilation system couldn't get it out fast enough. It's like a highway for hot air sometimes, and unfortunately, it's inside walls or in cavities in the attic that can't be seen by our inspectors or the roofers. Since the work was done and the roof isn't leaking after the ice dams, we feel it's not right to pay for a roof repair. Also, when small towns send letters about court dates, they are not certified, and we have no record of who received that letter. We did receive the judgment letter and would just want to present our side of the information and come to a fair solution. We look forward to resolving this. Please reach out with any questions.

They do no use American labor. Steve who did our estimate was very professional. Unfortunately we couldn't use them as they employ zero English speaking American crews. They wanted to send non English speakers with their wives to translate. Unacceptable for an American company. Find a safer alternative

Hi Brandon, We believe this review may have been left for the wrong company. We do not have anyone named Steve on our team, and we’re unable to locate your name or information in our system. We take pride in running a professional, licensed, and insured operation, and we communicate clearly with every customer throughout their project. We also want to be clear that we do not tolerate or engage with discriminatory or racist remarks. Our team is made up of hardworking professionals, and we stand by them fully. Given that this review does not reflect an actual experience with our company, we ask that it be removed along with the offensive comments. We wish you the best in finding a contractor that meets your needs. Sincerely, Roofing Rochester NY

I have seen all the positive reviews online for RR. Unfortunately for us, our experience was anything but positive. The work was satisfactory but the customer service was beyond despicable. We were treated with disrespect, promises made but not kept and no communication whatsoever. One of many examples...we signed a contract and made the deposit in July '24, after lots of back-and-forth the start date was set November. After two weeks of waiting for the job to begin with texts to our rep going unanswered we called the office. They had no idea about our contract nor that we had paid the deposit. Our representative had been fired. RR had no idea that we were waiting for the job to begin. RED FLAG! We tried to get our deposit back but the owner said 'no'. After that it took 5 months to get the job done. Beware!! Show quoted text

Dear Cindy, We are truly sorry to hear about your disappointment with your experience at Roofing Rochester NY. With many years of serving the Rochester community, we take pride in our commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and customer care, and it’s disheartening to learn we fell short in your case. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’re addressing your concerns to ensure they don’t happen again. We deeply regret the communication issues you experienced. Communicating to you about the departure of your representative was an unfortunate oversight, and while our claims specialist was actively managing your insurance claim, we apologize for any confusion caused by our office staff. To clarify, your project involved a complex insurance claim, which, as we discussed with your husband (per your preference), required extensive negotiations to secure the coverage you deserved. Unlike some contractors, we don’t charge upfront for all of the time and resources spent fighting insurance companies, as our goal is to protect homeowners from being shortchanged. However, this process can extend timelines, as it did in your case, taking five months due to the insurance company’s delays. While some claims resolve quickly, others can take significantly longer, and we regret that this wasn’t communicated as clearly as it should have been. Regarding your deposit, as outlined in our contract, we offered the option to cancel, but any incurred costs for work already performed—such as our efforts with the people like public adjusters —would need to be covered. We understood your decision to proceed with the claim, and we’re relieved to hear the final result met your expectations. Your satisfaction with the work itself means a lot to us, and we hope your beautifully restored home brings you joy for years to come. At Roofing Rochester NY, our reputation is built on generations of delivering top-quality roofing and exterior services. We’re grateful for the trust your family and our community

Unresponsive! We called Roofing Rochester near the end of February and spoke with Leah to schedule an evaluation and give us a price on a large roof ($60k+). Leah was friendly and helpful, and she scheduled Matt to come and look at the roof. Matt showed up on time and he appeared competent. However, we never heard from Matt again. We called Leah multiple times (at least 6 more times) to see where the pricing was. She assured us that Matt would get back to us. We later asked her to let us know what's happening or have someone else follow up. No-one from Roofing Rochester ever contacted us again. How could you in good conscience hire a company who drops the ball before they even have it in their hands? We do NOT recommend Roofing Rochester NY!

    Reply from the business

Randy, We’re truly sorry for the frustration you experienced after Matt’s visit. At Roofing Rochester, our goal is to serve property owners and their representatives with clear communication and reliable service, and we regret that this situation didn’t qualify as an opportunity we can help you with. Upon review, it appears there was a misunderstanding about the ownership of the property from the outset, which impacted our ability to understand your intentions. We could have been more upfront about our policy and closed the loop with you sooner. We specialize in providing estimates for confirmed building owners or their authorized representatives, as our focus is on delivering actionable solutions for real projects—not assisting with speculative bids on building. We apologize for any confusion this caused and are using this as an opportunity to refine our process moving forward. We want you to know we’re dedicated to respecting your time and working diligently on projects where we can provide real value. Thank you again for your input—it helps us improve.

We had roofing Eochester come out and look at our older home with many chimneys and a clay tile roof. They talked the talk and were great in the beginning. Scheduling them was a nightmare, I went through 3 project managers throughout the project. The work they performed was subpar and costly, they “repointed” the chimneys as if a child did it. They got the lift stuck in the yard despite my asking them if they had equipment mats. The communication was horrendous even with the owner and I had to hound them almost weekly throughout the project. They also put chimney caps on and one flew off within a week it was put on so poorly. I would NOT recommend them.

    Reply from the business

Hi Doug, the weather was definitely challenging to work around. And I'm glad we were able to put the chimney Cap back on. Usually the fastening mechanisms on those are not for high winds. If you ever have any other issues please call.

DO NOT HIRE!!!! OR GET A SECOND AND THIRD OPINION ELSEWHERE. After having 4 companies look at our roof for a small leak, the rep at Roofing Rochester is the ONLY one that recommended a total roof tear off and replacement. We asked him to look at our boot, where the leak was, and he was all over our roof finding multiple areas that he claimed were problematic. We said multiple times that a roof replacement is not in our budget, and requested a quote for boot repair/touch up, and he insisted with the new roof, then mentioned up to an $80,000 metal roof with financing. We continued to ask about the immediate repair. Three days later, we received a quote for a tear off and roof replacement of $28,000 to start and was told he would send over the repair quote, which still has not happened. After this, we had another company look at the areas he pointed out and they assured us we do not need a new roof, our high end shingles come with a lifetime warranty, and that the roof was in great shape. We went with another company after this experience and spent $345 instead of $28,000.

    Reply from the business

Dear Jessica, Thank you for reaching out to us and allowing us to be one of the five companies to inspect your lovely home. Although we were not selected to repair your roof, Matt expressed his pleasure in meeting you. While some companies may not consider the issues Matt identified as critical, we at Roofing Rochester NY have exceptionally high standards. When we encounter problems that fall significantly below our quality threshold, it raises serious concerns for us. We understand that roof issues can rapidly escalate and cause extensive damage to a home. In assessing the repairability of a roof, we consider the likelihood that repairs could lead to further damage. We would never want to put you in a difficult position during a repair, especially when we can anticipate the probable outcome based on our experience. Nevertheless, we did offer to perform the feasible repairs, such as those around the pipes. I apologize for the length of our proposals; we strive to be thorough in our documentation. On page 4, at the top, you will find that the quoted price for the repairs is only $250. It is important to note that while the materials used in this case come with a lifetime warranty, on your roof the labor involved presents a challenge. Our intention was to provide the best possible solution for you and your family, which is why we presented the options we did. There must have been a misunderstanding on Matt's part regarding your interest in a metal roofing option. We sincerely apologize for any confusion and assure you that we will make every effort to improve our communication in the future. Best regards, Paul Melnik Roofing Rochester NY

From the initial assessment and cost estimate to project completion and final walkthrough, Roofing Rochester provided exceptional service. They not only did my entire roof but also helped with reinsulating and ensuring proper ventilation in my attic crawl spaces. They also put a lot of attention and care into cleaning up after each day. I am so pleased with the final result. Every single person I met or spoke to was friendly and professional, keeping me up-to-date on the process every step of the way. They really value and prioritize quality work.

Good price, great follow through. In the summer of 2024, we experienced catastrophic haul damage to our home, which severely damaged the siding, gutters, and window and door wraps. The Roofing Rochester team was responsive and thorough from start to finish. They worked together with our insurance company to help us coordinate our repairs and properly document the project so our claim could be resolved and paid out timely. Our home now has a stunning fresh look, and they helped us finance the balance with a lender that offered 0% interest for the first 12 months. When our home was hit with a nasty windstorm that damaged some of their work, the Roofing Rochester team stood by their workmanship guarantee- and dispatched a technician to replace the damaged siding and secured it so well that future windstorms shouldn't be an issue. Outstanding commitment to quality, value, and service.

On Friday, January 9th, a strong wind storm damaged the end of the ridge vent & cap on top of our roof, with several feet of it flopping “on and off” over the next couple of days. We obtained one quote on January 14th, by a contractor who said the repair would cost us $2,200 including tax - this was based on an external, ground-level inspection. A second contractor said they would call back weather- and schedule-permitting, but never did. Fortunately for us, the ridge vent & cap flopped “down” right before a major snow storm, and we had a few more weeks to seek other quotes. We found Roofing Rochester online and arranged for Jacob to quote a repair on Thursday, February 12. The snow had melted enough that the ridge cap & vent were visible from the ground. Jacob quoted the work at $1,100 including tax, but because that was below their minimum job of $1,800, he asked if there was anything else roof-related that we would like done. We mentioned that our inspection report (from 11 years earlier…) had suggested we have baffles installed, so Jacob asked to access the attic through the hatch in a bedroom closet. While he was up there, he found two issues we did not know about. First, the vent pipe from two bathrooms were not properly venting: they were pointed at a gable but there was sufficient space between the end of the pipe and the gable, so that moist air was being blown back into the attic. Second, the lack of baffles coupled with the venting issue had led to white mold growth inside the attic. Jacob quoted us four pieces of work: baffle installation at $2,503 including a discount, venting of the bathroom exhaust through the roof at $1,600, mold remediation at $1,200 and the previously mentioned ridge vent & cap replacement at $1,100. Altogether, $6,403 including tax. While this was significantly more scope and cost than we were originally anticipating, we wanted to quickly fix all of the issues. What happened next is what we most appreciated about the Roofing Ro
