Called to make an appointment for an estimate. No issues there. I set an appointment for 10/02/2019 between 6am and 8am. Today is that day. Got up extra early and adjusted my day for this appointment. 8am rolls around and no phone call or estimator. Called shortly after 8am to find out what was going on. Lady on the phone tells me I didn't confirm my appointment with them (which I did while making the appointment AND I told them I would call if I needed to change it). Since they couldn't "confirm" my appointment, they took it upon themselves to cancel the appointment. This is 100% unacceptable. Also, I don't need the employees speaking to me as if I'm their children. Again, unacceptable and terrible customer service.

Allstate Roofing strives to enact policies to ensure effective and intelligent use of our resources to serve all our customers. To this purpose, it is our company policy to confirm all appointments prior to sending an Estimator to the property, as occasionally plans change prior to the scheduled estimate time. To send an Estimator to a property where we are no longer needed or desired is neither cost-effective nor productive. It is unfortunate that we were unable to reach you to confirm your appointment, which had been scheduled one week prior. We attempted to call twice and were unable to leave phone messages, as we got no answer and the voicemail was not set up on your phone. We did send two emails, from different email addresses. Screenshots of both sent emails are attached below. When you called our office at 8:05am on Wednesday to say our Estimator had not arrived, we informed you that we regrettably had to cancel the appointment due to your lack of confirmation. During the course of the phone conversation, you were asked by our office staff to discontinue your use of profane language on the phone, which is presumably what you refer to as being treated like a child. Profanity is never acceptable or beneficial in a business setting. Furthermore, we do record all calls for quality assurance. Understand that our owners have reviewed your call. You were also offered the opportunity for our Estimator to still go out that day, or to reschedule the appointment and you declined both. Had we provided you with roofing services, we feel confident that you would have been completely satisfied with the results. Called to make an appointment and they were not able to work with my schedule. I work nights and wanted to have them come out around noon. The lady was nice but unwilling to work with my schedule.
Reply from the business
We always do our best to accommodate customer’s schedules as best we can. Unfortunately, as was explained to you on the phone, with the summer heat kicking in we schedule our Estimators starting early in the morning, and make every effort to have them off the roof by noon. They utilize their afternoon to complete paperwork and return their phone calls. We make every effort to respect our customer’s needs, while also considering the well-being of our employees. Our records indicate that you were also offered the option of having an Estimator check your patio roof even if you were unavailable, but you said this was not possible as you have dogs. We would have loved the opportunity to provide you with our services, so you could post a review on the quality of our product rather than our scheduling limitations.

Chad came to give a quick estimate of what would be needed to fix a small leak at the junction of our patio ceiling and the main roof. No apparent intention of getting to the attic or examining the patio to verify where the leak occurred. He immediately said they had to remove all the tile in a major part of the roof and lay down new underlayment and replace the tile. I even mentioned to him we had new underlayment put down a few years back. He flippantly said it must be a bad job. Certainly gave the impression that there is no small job that they won't make into a big one. No actual effort being expended to verify where the leak actually occurred and what was really needed to resolve the problem. I will certainly advise friends to avoid AllState Roofing. Friday Dec 21. Regarding the owners response: It is true that I cannot attest to the quality of workmanship of Allstate Roofing. Furthermore, Chad may be a very nice fellow and a knowledgeable roofing expert. However, it is patently false to say the the leak was 4 to 5 FEET inside a load bearing wall. It was right below the junction of the patio and the main roof. Let's be very clear, it was directly above the load bearing wall and directly below the junction of the patio and the main roof. Very possibly an issue with the the flashing. I completely believe that Chad didn't know this because he simply took no time to analyze it. I cannot under state the effort Chad put to understand what was happening and how quickly he went right to major roof repair. Quite frankly, it was insulting. Apparently FREE estimates do not mean they will be done WELL! I stand by my original review.

We at Allstate Roofing pride ourselves on ethical business practices. It is very disheartening to us that you chose to post this negative review because you were unhappy with the information provided to you at your FREE estimate appointment. Chad is a highly experienced roofing professional, who observed that the leak was inside your home, approximately 4 to 5 feet up from the bearing wall. Under these circumstances, it is impossible that the leak was originating on the flat patio roof. Years of experience have resulted in the knowledge and ability to promptly assess the situation. Allstate Roofing will not perform a scope of work that is less than required to successfully resolve your leak situation for the long term, which in this case would be replacement of the underlayment material on that facet of your roof. A “band aid” type repair would not be an acceptable solution, and our company will not perform any work that is less than necessary. That is not to say that we do not perform small repairs when they are sufficient. Allstate Roofing has performed many small repairs in the past, and will continue to do so, when the situation warrants them. You cannot attest to the quality of our work, since we did not perform any work for you, but I assure you that it is exemplary. We certainly wish you all the best, and hope you receive a successful resolution to your roof leak.

Scam. I needed a small leak fixed on my roof took them over 2 weeks to come look at it. The lady on the phone told me I didn't need to be there when I set the appointment. The guy called to tell me he was almost there and I told him I am at work and wont be there he said that is fine I'll just "do my thing". Took them another 2 days to write up an estimate. When I got the estimate it was for a brand new roof. I called and explained it was just a leak. The lady told me that since I wasnt there he didn't know where the leak was. Instead of doing the smart thing and maybe calling and asking me where it was he thought it would be ok to just assume I wanted to pay for a brand new roof. The lady tried to convince me that was normal? And all she would do is leave a note for the guy in the file and seemed frustrated that I wouldn't just pay for a new roof.

Allstate Roofing sincerely appreciates our customers, and we provide honest and reliable service to every homeowner who contacts us. How a free estimate qualifies as a “scam” is unclear. Due to the highly active monsoon storms this summer, with the addition of the hurricane residual rains the valley has recently received, all legitimate local roofers are extremely busy. Since the estimate was scheduled for two weeks, perhaps you could have worked the time into your schedule to meet with the Estimator at your home and provide access, so we could isolate the area and cause of the leak. While it is true that it is not necessary for a potential customer to meet with our Estimator in order to provide a quote for re-roofing, it is necessary in cases such as yours, where only a quote for the leak repair is desired. A phone call to describe the location of water intrusion is not sufficient, as water follows the path of least resistance and the origin of the leak needs to be determined by a roofing professional. Furthermore, your Estimator noted that your underlayment material is 30 pound ASTM felt, which no longer meets industry standards, and has an estimated lifespan of fifteen to twenty years. This is why you received a quote to replace all your underlayment material. Our office staff never tries to pressure any customer into signing a contract for any scope of work; they only relay information to the best of their ability. If a potential customer has further questions that the office staff is unable to answer, standard practice is to have the Estimator call to answer those questions. We have already taken steps to clarify with our schedulers to make it more clear to anyone calling for an estimate appointment, that it is to their benefit to meet with our Estimator. We are sorry that you were unhappy with our response to your particular situation, but we did nothing unscrupulous or dishonest. Thank you very much for your feedback.

We had some tiles move due to the wind. We schedule to come out and give us estimate with Allstate Roofing Contractor. Chad Thomas, the owner came out on time as schedule. He was very professional and he treated us very respectfully. He checked out roof and fix all the tiles in proper place. He did not charged us anything for it and also did not try to get more money out of us by pointing out unnecessary damages. We so appreciate his honesty. You hardly find that now a days. We felt like God has send his man to us at right moment since after just he left there was little rain a sign of bringing a good luck to our door. We are very thankful and hope we have more companies and people like this will make world more better place to live.

Allstate Roofing did a great job recoating our flat foam roof. Chad, the owner, came out personally before the work started to do a final walkthrough and make sure everything was clear. The crew was professional, arrived on time, and kept the work area clean throughout the project. The work was completed efficiently and the roof looks great. Overall a very positive experience — I would recommend Allstate Roofing to anyone looking for roof work in the Phoenix area.

We used Allstate Roofing on our old house and they did an amazing job so it was a no brainer to call them again to repair or replace our new homes’ roof which was leaking from a few bedrooms. Brad came out and showed us all the issues and we figured out that a repair was out of the question so we decided to do the same thing at this house by stripping the flat and sloped roof down to the bare structure, replacing all of the rotten plywood, using SBS membrane, radiant barrier insulation, battens, concrete flat tiles and the six compromised sky lights, with new ones. The sky lights even have motorized shades which is a benefit on those hot days and they work great. It was not an inexpensive job since we chose to use top of the line products. Brad and Nelson made themselves available any time we had a question which did happen a few times. We lived in the house while under construction and the entire crew respected our space, they were always on time and made sure to clean up every night before leaving. We highly recommend Allstate Roofing without reservation for all your roofing needs/projects, due to the professionalism, expertise, clear/fast communication, honesty, workmanship, attention to detail, and most importantly, respect. Our project was recently completed and we couldn’t be happier with the results. As before, they are definite go to for any future roofing needs. Daniel & Caryn Fisch

Daniel and Caryn, thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review and for trusting Allstate Roofing with another one of your homes. We truly appreciate the confidence you placed in our team. Projects of this scope require careful planning and quality materials, and we’re glad Brad and Nelson were able to guide you through the process and ensure you felt informed every step of the way.
