  Buyer beware. House now requires black mold remediation on attic sheathing due to failed exhaust vent cloth duct tape seal. And dont expect the company to be accountable for their actions. Company will cut in exhaust vents in roof for bathrooms but will not attach said exhaust vents up to building code requirements. Company uses cloth duct tape to secure exhaust vents in attic that fails over time (which is banned per building codes) no mechanical strapping/securement either. They should not even offer this service if they dont know what they are doing. Ducting was secured by original builder by wire and secured to the truss in '82 (a mechanical securement). Building code states all ducts must be sealed air tigbt with mastic or aluminum ul181 tape and a mechanical securement. After reroof in 2024 by Mears, solely cloth duct tape. Even I know duct tape deteriorates over time with heat changes and they supposedly specialize in this..... wow! Duct ultimately failed and fell in my attic. They also dont do attic ventilation calculations upon quote for refoofing houses and blames the homeowner for the company's faulty workmanship. I was told my home would not be a good candidate for a ridge vent but now I am being told I need another 11 additional vents in my attic along with additional intake to bring it up to code that was established in the year 2000 which 14 years before my roof was redone. Avoid this company at all costs unless you have a newer roof. Also note they dont pull permits as they should when work requires it. If they pulled a permit there faulty workmanship would have been identified at the time of work rather than becoming a catastrophic failure and putting my family and home in harms way.

  A full roof replacement has been an impending task for a couple of years, so I had the luxury of time in gathering estimates. Mears came highly recommended from some friends in the area who had done business with them, and their bid was significantly less expensive than the others, in part because they recommended systems and products that would work for my house, not just what would cost the most money. From the start, they were pleasant to communicate with, patiently explaining their roofing system and process, and answering my myriad questions. Although the project took longer than anticipated due to significant wood rot, they kept me informed every step of the way and thoroughly explained my options whenever a decision was required. I especially appreciated the post-project walkthrough done by Ben, and all the information he kindly shared about my new roof. I can tell why Mears has such a strong presence in Tacoma, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone with roofing needs.

  Recently had Mears replace our roof & had a great experience with them. Had two prior bids (one that didn’t respond to questions/ghosted & another that had to decline due to injury, 2nd one then referred us on to Mears. Bid scheduling was easy, communication throughout the whole process was amazing. Got bid back to us very quickly. They were able to do the job soon. Pricing was fair & reasonable. Roofing crew did a great job on the actual roof & gutters- they were respectful of our property (plants & such) & did a good job with clean up. Everyone was polite & easy to work with. Zero complaints. Would easily recommend to anyone local looking for roofing services. 😊

  After doing business with Mears, I am not surprised why they have such high praise/reviews. I met Ben for the estimate and I came out fairly educated on roofs after the visit. Communication and follow through are unmatched. Thank you Leona! Jezel's crew were friendly, professional, and did a great job. Cleaned up everyday. And to top it all off, I received a hand written thank you card! You guys definitely found the secret to success. Highly recommend. Thank you, Mears roofing family!

  Headline Expert, honest, and responsive—thrilled with our new roof (5 stars) Review We got three estimates for a full roof replacement with removal, new installation, and added insulation in the summer of 2023. It was a close call between Valentin Roofing and Mears Roofing, but we chose Mears because of Ben’s expertise and thoughtful guidance. He saved us money by pointing out that our garage has no wall insulation—so insulating over the garage roof wouldn’t retain heat anyway. That kind of practical, homeowner-first advice really stood out.When it came down to choosing which option of roof finish and color, Ericka stepped in and help us make the best choice. Her depth of industry knowledge and helpful suggestions landed us with the Malarkey Vista shingles and three years later, it still looks amazing. Once we scheduled, communication was prompt and clear: arrival times, expected duration, and even daily photo updates. The team did walkthrough inspections and provided prompt triage when they discovered some rotten wood, which they replaced the right way. Mears also coordinated smoothly with our chimney repair team so both projects stayed on track. The finished roof looks fantastic and handled big fall storms without a hiccup. Later, after a different contractor made cosmetic changes on one side of the roof, we noticed water marks from a leak. Even though it wasn’t Mears’ work, Ben came the same day and fixed a small flashing mismatch—no hesitation, just great follow‑through. That level of integrity and support after the job is rare.
