Initially I was happy with my roof replacement. The communication with the agent, Tate, was prompt and very helpful. The work was scheduled easily and staff even came back once to fix an issue. I have not had any leaks. However, a few months after my new roof was installed, it was discovered that the old chimney they took down to under the roof line, as part of the work, was the exhaust for my gas furnace. Dangerous exhaust was then going into my attic (onto my beams) and in the house (during the winter). This seemed like a genuine mistake but this was never brought up to look for or consider before the work was done. They did offer to cover the cost of fixing the roof work (cutting a hole in it) but I had to coordinate an HVAC company to come and reconnect the external exhaust costing me $1850. To make matters worse, I had to try to get this done before a large winter ice storm and cold temps. Every HVAC company told me to not run my furnace (even though it was winter) due to the risk and that the roof company should have been aware of this possibility. I fortunately avoided carbon monoxide poisoning by being lucky enough to have some cross ventilation in my attic. When I requested that they cover or at least contribute to the cost of the repair to reconnect the exhaust, the manager refused and said it was not their responsibility because "they are just roofers" and not HVAC technicians. However, he even admitted, this same issue has happened to them a couple of times. So they are well aware this is something they can warn people to think about or investigate before doing that work. But instead it is your responsibility to somehow know this as neither a roofer or HVAC person. It does make me question what else they would not be upfront about with the excuse of being "just a roofer". So just be aware you need to be an expert before booking their service.

    Reply from the business

Mckenzie, thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your feedback. We’re glad to hear the roof installation has performed properly and remains leak-free, and we appreciate your comments about Tate’s communication during the project. We’d like to provide some context regarding the chimney. During our initial meeting, we were informed the chimney was no longer in use and you requested that it be removed below the roofline as part of the roofing work. The removal was also included in the written scope of work before the project began. Based on that information, it was treated as an abandoned chimney, which is common during roof replacement projects. Based on the information provided and what was observable during the roofing work, there was nothing that indicated an active heating appliance was connected. Determining whether a chimney is connected to a furnace or heating system requires an interior HVAC inspection and typically cannot be identified from the roof alone. After you notified us of the issue, we spoke with you directly, provided guidance on contacting a licensed HVAC contractor, and returned to complete the roofing portion of the repair at no charge so the vent could be properly re-vented. We are thankful the situation was identified and that no one was harmed. Given the winter weather, we were glad the repair could be completed quickly and that we were able to perform the roof work at our expense to help resolve the matter as soon as possible. We never want a homeowner to feel unsupported, and as a result we have added a written recommendation that any chimney be inspected by an HVAC professional prior to removal — even when it appears unused — to help prevent a similar situation in the future. We appreciate your feedback and are glad your home is now safely vented and protected.

JTM representative was professional, and responsive. He did not approach us with a high pressure sell. He was honest in letting us know the roof probably had a few more years. We decided to just take care of it, and to use this company because of the integrity and professionalism displayed. Work was done quickly and seems to be holding up well.

Where this page comes from

Every figure above is Google’s, captured on 24 September 2026. The star average and the 7 ratings behind it are counted by Google across all of its reviews. The review text on this page is a sample — we hold 7, of which 3 have any text — and it is not everything Google shows.

Roof Warden does not verify licenses, bonds, insurance or workers’ compensation cover, and nothing on this page should be read as though we had. Confirm those directly with the contractor and with your state or provincial licensing body before you hire anyone.
