Contacted Homelife Roofing for estimate. They called back and asked me if it was at least 3 sides of siding that needed repair and I said just the back. She immediately hung up on me -no good bye, no sorry we don’t do just one side ..nothing just hung up on me-no further conversation wanted on their end. Rude customer service

    Reply from the business

Mrs. Huber - I'm terribly sorry you had that experience. Customer service is our trademark and it is unlike our staff to speak rudely to anyone. The notes in our CRM indicate we did not speak with anyone. Is it possible Homelife was mistaken for another company? Please reach out to us as we'd love to help you.

Their customer service is terrible. They do not stand behind their warranty. Do NOT use this company.

    Reply from the business

Ms. Grace - I have no customer with your name in the database. Kindly send me more information so we can properly identify you as a Homelife customer. If you are a Homelife customer, your issues will be addressed.

I bought my home 2 years ago and the roof was recently installed by Homelife. I noticed small chimney leak in the attic after a moderate rain. The flashing needed to be addressed. I called Homelife since they installed the roof. Josh came out and stated they did indeed replace the roof but tried to upsell me on new gutters. Gutters they installed 5 years ago. Even sent out a non solicited quote. Once I stated I didn't want the gutters, the line of communication stopped. No Ed. No Josh. After several emails....nothing. Nope. Seems if they can't do a big job any return repair work is not worth their time. I don't like giving bad reviews but this was not a good look. Wouldn't recommend. Oh. Even stated the roof warranty was no good. Only covered defective materials and not labor. I have moved on.

    Reply from the business

Sir - As we explained during our conversations we cannot do any work for someone who has never been a Homelife Remodeling customer. Our labor warranty covers existing homeowners but when they sell the home, the warranty does not transfer to future homeowners. When we had someone come out to take a look at the home we provided a detailed recommendation as well as a proposal to help solve your issues. I'm sorry your experience was not positive but I don't think your review is justified as you are not a Homelife customer, you have not contracted with Homelife for any services, and have not been charged for any service.

Tv ad did not match what they actually did or were willing to do. In response not quite true is it? 1. When I set up appt I made it clear that it was a cape cod house with at least 4 to 6 shingles missing. Not my fault if your person can not take a proper message. 2. You had an aerial view of my house cause you could not wait to see it. Maybe you should have looked at the roof instead. Anyone reading this can decide for themselves if you are honest or not. I don't fall for the bull... games. You will probably state" after we left the office or on the way." You knew before arrival if you could do the quick repair.

    Reply from the business

Mrs. McKnight - I'm sorry you feel that way. The roof was too steep and missing too many shingles to qualify for the tune up service. As a courtesy, my tech did his best to perform a temporary repair that would hold until the roof was replaced. Josh was under the impression you had verbally agreed to have Homelife replace the 30 yr old roof which is the only reason we performed the repairs. It seems he was mistaken. Our intentions were honorable and we thought we were providing the best service under the circumstances. I would be happy to refund the $139 if you feel the service we provided was not equitable. Please feel free to contact the office.

Didn't know what to select for the topic of " what do you not like about this business?" I felt like my issue with this company was more of a bad business practice. So I scheduled an appointment only for them not to show up and when I asked the reason why I was told they Google Mapped my house and saw that it was three stories and it was too steep. This is quite odd given the fact that my house is like most houses being built these days "3 stories". Here's some constructive criticism for this company: 1. If you don't do three story houses which is most houses these days how about let that be known on your website or automated machine instead of me investing time. 2. Used 2 means of contacting, they said they left me a voicemail which I did not receive. However, they never emailed me even though they had my email.

    Reply from the business

I understand your position and frustration. The Roof Rehab service is priced very competitively and we simply cannot provide that service for 3 story structures. I'm truly sorry you did not receive our message cancelling the appointment. Time is valuable and we would never waste anyone's time purposefully. An email should have been sent and I apologize if it wasn't.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Permit and wood supply issues due to COVID have made deck building challenging. We are doing our best to deal with them but could not avoid delays. To my knowledge, you are happy with the deck itself. Please let me know if we can do anything for you.

I have always done my own work and generally don’t trust others to do the work properly. I decided to use Homelife to replace my roof and gutters. I don’t have any issues with the roof replacement. The work was done as scheduled and appears to have been done well. They forgot to flash the chimney but did come back out to finish the job. Cleanup was pretty good. The gutters were a different story. I waited all day long for the gutters to be installed. No call, no time frame given. Around 4:00 in the afternoon one person shows up to install gutters. It took him almost three hours to complete them. Upon inspection there were too many issues to note. I emailed the company with my concerns and they sent their installation foreman out to look over the gutters and flash the chimney. I emailed photos of the issues I saw and those noted by the foreman. On the day the issues were to be taken care of it was déjà vu. I sat at home from 6:00 am to roughly 6:00 pm when he showed up to address the issues. Same guy, all alone, showed up in his pickup truck with no materials other than a four foot section of flashing and a ladder. All of the fascia flashing was installed improperly with a gap as if I was installing soffits – below the existing soffits. They should have all been trimmed to present a flush fit. I had to provide the fascia board he used that should have been taken care of the first time to repair one section. He left to get materials required to fix the other issues. Upon his return he took care of many of the items but not all. I told him to forget addressing the fascia flashing as I was not inclined to wait until who knows when for the flashing to be right and not worry about the gutters not being negatively affected by taking them off and putting them back up again...at least the areas that are attached by sheet metal screws. I have to hire another company to address the gutters. Roofing, I have no issues so far. Gutter work was sub-par. Update: Homelife sent their

I see they are running commercials now indicating that you are a customer for life! LOL What a joke. I had a terrible experience with them! I went through Angie's list and when the guy came out he failed to leave out they charge you for the boards. The deal on Angie's list was for everything but boards, flashing etc. Well I decided to get a skylight as well. Long and behold once the job was done about a year later I was having some recessed lights installed and the electrician found water coming into the roof through the skylight. Well found out through a roofer that the skylight on one side was done incorrectly. So I have a 10 year warranty but it was like pulling teeth to get someone out here. So the owner says his foreman is coming and when the guy finally got here, he gets on the roof bangs in a few nails and say if I have any problems call them! The point is I do not want to have problems because that means water is coming in my house. First bit of rain it was dripping like the guy did not do anything. Call the owner again and he never returned my phone calls. I climb on the roof and used flex seal, problem fixed. Horrible experience. Everyone stay away and Veterans stay clear of this company!

    Reply from the business

Shawn - I'm sorry your experience with Homelife was not positive. I am surprised to see such a review posted as the roof was installed in 2014. It is not our policy to ignore service calls and I am easy to reach via phone and email. I searched my email history and did not find any emails from you requesting service. Nonetheless, your labor warranty is 100% intact and I will address any service issues brought to my attention. Please do not hesitate to call or email if you need service.

Homelife did a fantastic job Demolishing and constructing a deck at my parents’ home. My dad was very pleased with the outcome! He was impressed that the contractors continued to move the project for despite the challenging weather during the winter time. The contractors finished quickly and the workmanship looks fantastic. We’re looking forward to spending time out on the deck in the spring and summer!

Met with Josh and he’s gotta be one of the most honest folk in the business. He didn’t try to sell me on an unrealistic project and gave solid advice and alternative solutions. Highly recommend based on the interaction alone despite not getting work done but I am sure the quality of the work matches the honesty of the business. Bonus point he was at my house the same day I called to book which is wild!

"We're grilling here every Friday." Heard that the day we finished a deck in Harford County last spring. The homeowner walked out with a spatula before we'd even packed up the nail guns. That's the part nobody sees in the brochure. A deck isn't joists and composite boards. It's where your kid learns to flip burgers. Where the neighbors end up staying until 11pm. Where Sunday morning coffee hits different because you're outside. One loose board later, that "extra space" turns into a hazard you can't ignore. We build them to handle the real stuff, the parties, the foot traffic, the years of Fridays.
