  Requested a quote online got an immediate response set up an appointment with technician to come out. Day of appointment no one ever showed up, no calls, no text no email explaining why. Guess they really don't care if they get your business.

Unfortunately, it seems your appointment was not properly saved into our scheduling system. Normally, every appointment generates both a text and email confirmation of your appointment, which helps ensure nothing is missed. We do see that we had a phone conversation with you and understand how frustrating this must have been, especially with the missed appointment and lack of communication. We truly regret this oversight. We are currently trying to reach you by phone so we can get this scheduled, earn your business, and help you with your project. We would love the opportunity to make things right. If you’re open to it, we would be happy to schedule a site visit this week at your convenience.   Consumer alert! Our roof sustained damage in a wind storm and we contacted Balken roofers. Tyler came to evaluate our roof. He claimed our roof was installed incorrectly and insurance would not cover it. We got opinions from two different companies, both disagreed with what we were told and insurance is covering the roof. Very sad to see that a reputable local company did the opposite of trying to help their customer. Please do better Balkan.

  Do NOT use this company. The guy they sent out to look at our roof had no idea what he was talking about when it came to our roof. He argued with us. We reached out to the manager to get a new estimate with a different person. Thats been 2 months ago haven't heard anything from them.

  Sent in a request to be contacted and have never heard from anyone there. Been over a month 4-16 even got a email stating that I would be contacted sent info again Well after months of waiting on a price quote they finally have someone come out and look at it to price it out. First off the guy talks to me like I'm dumb and don't know how big my house is or what I want for my house. But he also comes in with a booklet for shingles when I requested metal roofing on the get a quote website and then he sends me a price quote yet again for shingle roof when I asked multiple times for metal. Did not listen at all. Then for a small one story house less than 2000sq feet was almost $10000.00 crazy

  The previous owners of our house had Balken install a new roof in 2013. 11 years later I found out that some of the 30-year architectural shingle they installed have deteriorated. Balken came by to see the roof but since it was raining earlier that day, didn’t get up the roof. They also let me know that their warranty is non-transferable from owner to owner, which does not instill confidence, but that’s the policy. They offered to help file a warranty claim for the shingles (which involved removing and mailing some shingles to the manufacturer) for $500. It’s unclear if the manufacturer would pay out on this claim or how much they could pay. Even if they do, this would cover shingles only and I’d still have to pay Balken to repair the 11 year old roof that they installed. So while I appreciate their responsiveness, it seems like their warranty is not worth much if a transfer of ownership nullifies it and they are asking for $500 to just file a shingle claim.

  Elena, thank you for your feedback regarding our company and service. We truly value your feedback and always strive to provide exceptional customer service. The shingles referenced are manufactured by CertainTeed; and were installed by Balken Roofing for the previous owner. These CertainTeed shingles may have a manufacturer defect, Balken Roofing does not make the shingles. The workmanship warranty offered to the previous owner included coverage against leaks or blow off shingles to the original owner – your house does not have any leaks or blown off shingles, as discussed on call 12/27/23 to our office after 2 very heavy rainstorms. Therefore, a workmanship warranty transfer from Balken Roofing would not be beneficial. On your behalf, Balken Roofing called the shingle manufacturer, CertainTeed, to gather additional information. Due to taking ownership of the home within the 1st 10 years of the roof installation, you are eligible for the 50-year material defect warranty through CertainTeed. After the first 10 years of the life of the roof, the material warranty is prorated for the remaining 40 years. This warranty is prorated for shingles only, not labor. After CertainTeed receives the shingle samples for testing, it’s a 3–4-week response time. Balken Roofing offered to help with the claim process to remove (2) shingles, mail the samples, and help process the necessary paperwork. The removal of shingles would require 2 technicians for safety due to the steep pitch of the roof. Balken Roofing offered to credit the $498.00 fee if the claim was approved through CertainTeed and if you decided to move forward with a new roof with Balken Roofing. Balken Roofing has not heard back from you since January 9, 2024. Balken Roofing continued to follow up for 2 weeks – informing you of another homeowner going through the claim process with a different shingles manufacturer and their experience through the claim process and provide reassurance as their claim was

  The team of men that removed my old roof in 2019 and installed a new roof were incredible. The new terracotta metal roof looks gorgeous. They replaced wood on my roof and shored up studs that had rotted from a leak on the porch. They showed me what they’d found and what needed to be done. A year later I started noticing musty smells and by now my porch is a health hazard. The porch is 20x10’ and I have been left with trying to figure out how to do mold remediation. I spray the ceiling and entire porch with concrobium but each year it come back. Each spring we notice we can’t stay out there until we’ve opened all the windows and sprayed, and air it out. My cat who loves sitting in the window watching wildlife develops a horrible cough and I sneeze just passing through it. Removing the ceiling in the porch will be a huge job. Will spraying with concrobium be enough when the mold by this point is likely between the wood and the metal roof? Will removing the metal roof even be possible, as it is one piece with the rest of my home? I cannot recommend Balken after paying $7,000 and facing this issue. Roofers HAVE to be aware that leaks leads to mold and advise homeowners of proper remediation prior to roofing. Beware of roofers that don’t discuss the potential for mold. It’s a neurotoxin. Having a beautiful roof on top of mold will harm your health.
