I hate to give bad reviews but I had contacted A.Clark when I noticed a leak in my ceiling. I figured as a large outfit they would be great to deal with. Someone was sent out to look at it but was not provided the proper information of what to look for. I wasn't notified that someone would be there that day otherwise I would have been home to assist the person but I was in a meeting at work and the poor guy couldn't get a hold of their back office or myself for more information. I did end up speaking with the person about an hour later once I was out of my meeting and agreed to get my entire roof replaced. Over the next 3 weeks, I called to follow up every week and each time a different person I dealt with just said that they will get someone to contact me meanwhile this leak was getting worse with each rain storm. Out of frustration, I contacted some other reputable companies that scheduled times with me or told me that they were not able to take on more jobs. The one that I moved forward with was able to temporarily seal off the area while I wait for my new roof to be put in. I understand that the amount of rain we have been getting is likely causing a lot of volume and Sam was good to work with for the triaging of requests but everything else was very disorganized. It was probably my mistake to let things drag on for 3 weeks but I figured because I had paid for them to come look at my roof that there would be some sort of orderly process to it. I also trusted the person on the phone telling me that someone would be calling me next week each time I called but that never happened. I would have appreciated if you would have just told me you are too busy to take on work, as I would have just contacted someone else. I could have gotten away with just repainting the small leak spot if I had been given that courtesy weeks ago so that I could contact another company but that is not possible now.

Hired A.Clark to fix a piece of fascia that came loose from the side of my house. Only 1.5 years later, that same piece has fallen completely off my house. Yes, we have had some extreme weather this year, however, only the piece they "repaired" fell off, while all other pieces remained intact through this weather. I tried to ask them to repair it but they refused to honor basic workmanship standards or repair their own failed work. I guess they don't stand behind their work like they claim to do. I have a rental property that needs a new roof and will definitely look elsewhere after this experience.

Did not clean up after themselves. They did our roof and just left all there nails in our gutters. I don’t know what kind of standard is being held here but this is ridiculous. Edit: it seems that they have had this same issue for 4+ years according to other reviews. Please hire a professional company for your services.

    Reply from the business

Hi Darrin, we do clean up thousands of nails and pieces of debris each re-roof. We apologize if we missed any. It looks like a few got caught up somewhere in your gutters or in your downspout. Feel free to call us to confirm your details and we can have someone return to finish the cleaning as the name here doesn't quite match any of our records at first glance.

I have never felt so victimized in my whole life. They charged me $260.00 for a ten minute cursory eye ball estimate and slapped a little tar here and there. They didn’t even look into the attic to discover where the real leak was coming from. I believe estimates should be free. It’s part of doing business to get business. Years ago companies gave free estimates. Now they gouge you. The customer is just another source to get as many dollars out of as possible while not really fixing the problem. They then took a very long time to actually send me the estimate while my bathroom continued to leak water from the continuous rain. Then they finally sent the estimate indicating the chimney needed repair. They quoted $1260.00 to install a $50.00 chimney cap. I am outraged. This company has been around for decades and this is what they do. This is beyond belief. I expected them to help me. Instead they hit me with an expensive improper non thoroughly researched estimate and then a mind boggling charge of $1260.00 to install a $50.00 chimney cap. I had another roofer who didn’t charge for estimates look at it and he indicated that the chimney was not the cause of the leak in my roof. He is actually going to go into the attic area and find the cause of the leak. The chimney does need some minor patch work attention but nothing severe. I am disappointed in this company.

    Reply from the business

Sorry to hear how frustrated you are. Our recommendation is to redo your entire chimney. Your chimney is definitely allowing water in, it's wide open to it. The only thing we could do, which we agree would not be fully sufficient but it would help and be required on a chimney re-work anyhow, is to install a chase top pan. A proper chase cap does not cost $50, that will not even be enough to buy a part of the raw materials from which point we have to fabricate it to it's unique size and shape, along with the accompanying trims, fasteners, etc and then the labour to fabricate, deliver, and install. We understand things are expensive, we feel that too. We did not charge for an estimate. We charged to send a professional to the scene, repair or maintain what could be done without any idea of what may be there to fix or not, and if anything substantial needed to be done that we could not do on the spot, we provided a free estimate for further work. That being said, we hope that you are able to resolve your issue in a way that works best for you.

The flat roof section of our house was done without care and rushed to make a quick buck. The end result was little to no slope and the metal work was slapped together without any diligence. I am now spending thousands of dollars to repair the roof because of how terrible the work was done on my house. The updated photos clearly show a slope package con job that should be fixed or face legal repercussions.

I really wanted to give A. Clark Roofing a five star rating. They came highly recommended to me by a coworker. The estimation was clearly laid out, the contracting process was very straight forward, and the timeline was fairly fast also! The roofers came by early August and replaced the roof over the course of two days, doing an excellent job, so good that the neighbours across the street even commented on the quality. However, at the end of the job, the "clean up" of the non-full shingle materials was the roofers using a leaf blower to clean off the roof into the backyard and side of the house. There were no tarps laid down or anything, so I assumed they would have come back later with a vacuum to remedy the mess. After about a week I reached out to my contact at the company and was told that the proper manager would be notified. After about a month where nothing had happened, I reached out again and was told the same thing. Two months after the roof was completed it became clear that the company has no intentions of cleaning up the mess they left in both mine and my next door neighbours yard (who has small kids, so there is a safety concern with the nails). Long story short, the experience was an easy five stars right up until the very end where the company took no accountability for the mess they left behind, leaving me to clean it up myself.

A Clark Roofing & Siding left their truck running, with no one inside, no one in site, blocking my driveway for half an hour. Tried calling the number on the truck and just got their voicemail. Couldn’t park in my own driveway when I got home from work. No one spoke to me from this company or had to courtesy to ask.

I called a couple of times trying to get a quote over the past few weeks. Still never heard anything back from this company.

Had a 30 + year old roof on a 60 year old garage. Had some wood damage as well as shingles falling off in every wind or rain event. Sent in an online request, recieved quote, and approved. ETA of 3 weeks. Minor pickup with shingle delivery, truck couldn't fit down alley, and work done 2 weeks later than originally promised due to weather. Emergency calls taking precedence. Work done over two days, while I was at work, no presence required. Yard left clean, all debris removed via driveway. Good for another 30 years.

Nathan from A Clark inspected my roof recently. He has done a great job to find all the defects with a lot of photos to show the details. With this report, I have a much better understanding about the status of the roof and what actions I need to take.

Sam and A Clark have a great name within the heritage community - and beyond - for good reason. I’ve always felt well-served by them and had it freshly reinforced when Lupe was out last week for a last-minute repair on a cedar roof between the downpours. Thank you for the peace of mind! You’ll hear from us again toward the end of the year when it’s time to look at a full replacement.

Very quick to address the exigency. For a New build roof, wanted shingles installation before the incessant rains. Scott diverted the technicians and relieved my anxiety. Thanks a lot, A.Clark staff.
