The workers are not trained well, and the company management could care less. Please go elsewhere for you roofing needs, if you want to avoid a disaster and bad ownership that's looking to nickel and dime.

Dear M, While we appreciate customers taking time to point out how we could do better, we have no record of you being our customer. (Could it be the small, non-political tribute to Charlie Kirk?) If Vanguard Roofing has done work for you that you find unsatisfactory, please reach out to us and we will do everything in our power to make it right. Sincerely, Gary M. I hired Vanguard Roofing for a roof replacement, but the work was poorly done. The shingles were uneven, and some areas weren’t sealed properly, leading to leaks during the first rainfall. I expected much better quality for the price I paid.

Vanguard Roofing has never worked for Jagger Baylor. This review is an attempt to extort our company. After leaving this 1 star review we were contacted with a request for payment to have this fake review removed. Because we were unwilling to pay this review has remained dropping our rating .01 points.

We really appreciate your feedback and regret that you feel taken advantage of-- Vanguard Roofing works passionately to surpass every clients reasonable expectations. Since the price you paid was $200.00 (not $365.00) we have already mailed you a complete refund for that amount. Kind Regards, Gary Greenwood

Made an appointment for an estimate. The representative did not show up for the appointment, nor did he call to let me know he was not able to make the appointment. Made a second appointment and again the representative did not show up or call.

  Reply from the business

Hi Mrs. Smith, We appreciate that you brought this problem to our attention and apologize for the inconvenience. Our representatives are trained to arrive within one minute of all meetings. While we don't know the exact circumstances regarding the missing first appointment, we do know that our representative's truck had broken down in route to the second appointment. Still, we should have promptly informed you. We can't re-do this error, but we included this mistake in our last quarterly training meeting and intend to never let it happen again.

I know this review is a bit overdue, but the quality of work Gary and his crew did on our rental cabin's new insulated metal roof back in December 2024 stuck with me, and I wanted to make sure it got said. From the very first call, Gary was responsive and professional — he had my quote back to me within a day, and he was genuinely easy to work with on pricing. No pressure, no runaround, just honest conversation. When it came time for installation, his crew showed up right on time, and they were courteous and informative throughout the whole process. We did hit a snag getting some of the roofing material mid-install, but Gary went above and beyond to track down what we needed so the job stayed on schedule. That kind of problem-solving says a lot about a business owner. Freddy, the project manager, was excellent as well — on top of every detail from start to finish. Even with the bumps along the way, Gary proved himself to be a true standup guy who made sure everything worked out right. The final workmanship was outstanding, and the cleanup afterward was so thorough you'd never know a crew had even been there. If you're looking for a roofing company you can trust to do it right and stand behind their work, look no further than Gary and Vanguard Roofing. Highly recommend.

Gary patiently answered all our questions (I am sure we asked 10x your normal customer) and never complained. His team worked relentlessly and tirelessly in an awful heat wave. It was astonishing how hard those guys worked in the heat. The …

Hi George, I really appreciate getting to know you while you and your wife carefully planned out the details of your project. The exterior renovations you selected (slate line shingles, portico flat roof, color options, etc.) were unique and our crews enjoyed this project. Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, it means a lot!

Gary and Vanguard did our entire church roof in March. They were very professional, easy to work with, and gave us a good price. They removed the entire roof and replaced it within 4 days. Amazing. The end product is beautiful; the roof looks great. They were responsive to questions and concerns. We would use them again.

(I’m no expert) the crew appeared to be very good at what they were doing. There were a few issues, but with a job like this there will be some issues, overall they were efficient and did a thorough clean up after. I’m very satisfied with the job they did for me.

Hi Chris, Thank you for the review. I'm glad you are pleased with your metal roof coating. As you know, it will last much longer than a painted metal roof and stop leaking for two decades! I'm so glad you are pleased. Sincerly, Gary www.vanguardroofingva.com

Very prompt service. I had what seemed like a difficult section of roof to access, but Gary make it look effortless. The result was exactly what I had hoped for and the quality of workmanship was outstanding. Very thankful to Vanguard and would be glad to use their roofing services again in the future.

Here is a picture of a roof that we recently replaced. On day one we removed the old shingles, cleaned up and installed Ice and water protection and Titanium UDL 30 Underlayment. On day two, we installed Drip edge, Starter shingles, Owens Corning Duration shingles, and hip and ridge shingles. We will post finished pictures soon!May 14, 2026
