  From the initial inspection to the finished project we were impressed with the professionalism, knowledge & communication with Silas at Van Horn Construction. Silas was aware of additional storm damage- sunspace windows, siding & trim that other contractors missed, and his claim was approved by our adjuster. The roof tear off, repairs and shingle install was completed in one day, his team was very professional, experienced and efficient. Silas suggested class 4 shingles for replacement & the upgrade has resulted in significant savings on homeowners insurance. I’m not expecting storm damage, but we know who we’ll be contacting if it happens.

  Silas of Van Horn Construction was a pleasure to work with. We needed gutters on a new construction and he promptly came over, measured, gave recommendations, then had his crew on site within a couple of days. We were done within one week of the first call to completion. I'd gladly recommend Van Horn.

  A few years ago, we noticed a water stain on the ceiling of our upper level. I called Silas and he arrived to check it out within 30 minutes of my calling. He diagnosed the issue (humidity build up in the attic, just run the bathroom fan more when the shower’s on) and when we asked what we owed for the house call, he answered, “Not a thing.” How often does that happen anymore?! (I love working with actual human beings, don’t you?) What a guy. Fast-forward a year or two and we had hail damage on our roof and siding from a major storm. Insurance said they’d approve something like $600 for the damage. (You’re welcome to roll your eyes here.) Silas came out to advocate for us and took on the project, and by the time he was done, Insurance had approved replacement of the roof, siding, trim, gutters, fascia, etc… They paid out more than 300x what they’d initially approved. (Oh, and we’re positively THRILLED with the results!) You want this guy in your corner. I loved working with Silas and won’t consider any other contractor for our home’s exterior - will definitely be giving Van Horn a call again if we have future need. But for the time being, I have major peace of mind knowing that our new roof and siding should have us set for the next several decades.

  Silas’ construction company ranks #1 on my list of companies that have ever done any kind of work at my home. The particular home I’m in now is an older home with a history of several owners. When I knew I had damage on my roof, I looked up contractors in my area. I’m so glad I called Silas. He not only took care of hail damage but also corrected serious venting issues he found. He and his crew worked so hard to finish a major roofing job in one day and left my home looking as if it hadn’t just been taken apart. I am very happy with the value he added to my home. I highly recommend his company.

  Could not have had a better experience. This team is trustworthy and will help you get things right. I had multiple companies come look at my roof and they were the only ones to find the actual problem and fix it!

  Silas replaced my roof and other damage from a hailstorm. 5 Stars does not cover all the help I received from him. I would have to double that. The insurance company rejected my claim while the surrounding 2 blocks of houses were being covered. He pursued and worked through their hurdles. I had a chimney issue and he gave me expert advice on how to handle it and located the labor to remedy a serious problem. His crew worked fast and were very tidy. He was on site to inspect the project as it was being done. Working in commercial real estate for decades before retirement, I can say that I have never seen a large project like mine be handled with more professionalism and less problems. It turned out beautiful! I would recommend him to everyone.

  Van Horn Construction was great to work with. I told them what I wanted, and Silas showed me a couple of samples that he thought I would like, which were exactly what I was looking for. His crew was in and out with no clean up for me. I have many flower beds around the house, and I didn't find anything from the installation. Use Van Horn Construction!
