I don’t usually leave reviews, but I feel I have no choice in this case — future customers deserve to know what they may be dealing with. We hired True North Lights (now also known as True North Roofing & Exteriors, same ownership) to install very expensive house lights. The experience has been nothing short of terrible. This is primarily a review of the owners. BBB will also be contacted. * Poor installation: The lights had ongoing issues almost immediately. Without telling us, they installed a beta version of the control program and even placed the control box in an area we never approved — directly interfering with our BBQ. * Warranty ignored: The system came with a 5-year labor and parts warranty, yet when one of their cables came loose and they came to fix it, they sent us an invoice. I emailed twice asking why, and never got a single response. * Debt collection threats: about a year later, without any warning, they escalated this supposed bill to a debt collection agency. This was shocking, especially since they never once answered my emails. Their claim was that weather caused the cables to come loose and it wasn’t covered by warranty… this was told after it was already sent for collection and wasn’t stated in their warranty contract. * Unprofessional owners: I eventually got through to Chad Ross (one of the owners). He initially agreed to rescind the invoice but never followed through. When I called again, concerned this would hurt my credit score, he hung up on me — accusing me of being “abusive.” For the record: there was no swearing, no personal attacks — just frustration after being ignored and gaslit for months. Calling a customer “abusive” simply because they are upset is deeply unprofessional. * Refusal to communicate: Since then, they have blocked my phone number and refuse to respond to emails. Chad Ross and Ben Foote have ignored all attempts to contact. I even apologized (though I did nothing wrong) simply to try to resolve this matter — but they

We are sorry to hear about your frustrations. We do want to clarify a few points for future customers reading this: • We did come out and service your lighting system multiple times without charging. • The invoice in question was specifically for damage caused by high winds, which is not covered under the product warranty. • After nearly two years of the invoice remaining unpaid and unanswered, we had no choice but to send it to collections. • We also had to block your phone number after repeated abusive interactions with our staff. We stand by our work and our warranty when it applies, but damage caused by weather or outside forces is not covered.

True North Roofing added an addition on to my elderly parents deck in Taber. They took the job even though this isn't part of their normal services they offer. They subcontracted it out to another company who did a terrible job. They …

True North Roofing & Exteriors just finished replacing the roof on our home in Medicine Hat, and we couldn’t be happier! From the first inspection to the final cleanup, their team was professional, efficient, and transparent. They helped walk us through the insurance process, explained all our options, and delivered exactly what they promised. The new shingles look fantastic, and the crew left the yard spotless. Highly recommend True North to anyone needing roofing work in Southern Alberta — top-notch service and local expertise you can trust!

Being a first time home owner of an older house is trying at times. Ben and the crew at True North Roofing made renovations less stressful for our family. They were courteous, professional, and worked in a timely manner. They left our yard tidy and free of debris. The end product is more than we had expected. We would definitely call them again.
