I wanted to provide feedback regarding my recent experience while attempting to obtain a roofing proposal from Stout Roofing for my manufactured home in Moapa Valley. Initially, I appreciated the responsiveness from Meg and the preliminary discussions with Les regarding both Owens Corning shingles and a standing seam metal roofing option. Les also verbally discussed pricing ranges ($9K-$11K)and appeared knowledgeable regarding roofing systems generally. During our conversations, I was also advised that additional details and specifications would ultimately be reflected in the invoice/proposal documentation once the project moved forward. Additionally, the initial inspection and discussions regarding the roofing project were conducted primarily from the ground level, and no full roof walk or rooftop inspection was performed prior to the preliminary pricing discussions and recommendations. However, after I submitted a detailed follow-up email requesting a formal written proposal addressing materials, installation methods, low-slope roofing requirements, underlayment systems, permits, ventilation considerations, warranty details, change-order procedures, and related project specifications, the process appeared to deteriorate. Approximately 10 days later, Les contacted me and explained that he did not have the time to prepare the type of detailed proposal I was requesting. During the conversation, he repeatedly referenced having done roofing work for approximately 30 years and also referenced the company doing tens of millions of dollars in business annually, which I understood as an indication that I should rely on the company’s experience and reputation rather than requiring more detailed written documentation. When I explained that I wanted proper documentation for both project clarity and future resale purposes, he stated that he was “going to pass” on the project, and the conversation ended rather abruptly. I want to be clear that I was not attempting to create

Edwardo, Thank you for the detailed and fair-minded feedback. I read your review carefully, and I owe you an apology. The written documentation you asked for, materials, installation methods, low-slope requirements, underlayment, permits, ventilation, warranty, and change-order procedures, is standard in every proposal Stout Roofing produces. Your expectations were entirely reasonable, and I'm sorry the conversation didn't reflect that. Pointing to years of experience or company revenue is not a substitute for clear written specifications, and I understand why the interaction felt dismissive once you pressed for more detail. The representative you spoke with has been in the industry a long time, but in this case he didn't follow the process we have in place for exactly the situation you described. That's something we'll address internally. I'd genuinely like the opportunity to make this right. A member of our management team will reach out to you by phone today. If you're open to it, we'd like to send a different representative out to perform a proper rooftop inspection on your home and put together the kind of detailed written proposal you originally requested. No pressure, no obligation, if you'd rather move on, we completely understand. But homeowners who ask the right questions deserve answers, and I'd like to give you ours. Thank you again for taking the time to write this. We'll be in touch today. Stout Roofing, Inc

Hi Slade, After coming out to inspect your roof multiple times, we isolated the issue to being a plumbing issue with one of the drains from your roof. I hope you consider changing your review since we relentlessly helped you isolate the problem at our own expense only to find it wasn't a roofing issue at all, but a plumbing. Wishing you all the best.

Littered in my yard & then lied about it. I’d recommend literally any other business before these unprofessional people

    Reply from the business

Hi Burke, I am sorry for the unfortunate incident it sounds like you may have had with one of our employee's. We do not have you in our system so it doesn't appear we have ever done business with you, but perhaps we were doing business with one of your neighbors? We would like to right whatever wrong may have happened to you. We have over 150 employees and we are confident that they typically act in a very professional manor, so I'm not sure what must have happened with you. If you'd like to call in to the office and ask for Chad, I would be more than happy to talk with you. 435-635-4288. Thanks.

BUYER BEWARE!!! Let me leave a completed review since the owner says they "do not have me on record" (your a contractor you would not have homeowners on record)!! I bought a BRAND NEW home through Ence out at the Ledges and Stout was/is the roofing company/contractor. WHAT A UTTER, LIVING NIGHTMARE..I have had 10 roof leaks...thats right 10 roof leaks! Stout did a horrible job on my flat roof I have patches all over the roof and I continue to have problems up to right now. My most recent leak is in the garage which is in the process of being torn up due to you guessed it another roof leak. This has been going on for 14 months- Stout comes out and "makes sure there are no more leaks" (which is comical) just in time for another one to spring up! AVOID this company at ALL Costs!! Kindly check your records again. Update- the repairs in the garage have NOT been made on the inside of the garage, that is incorrect. Just because you repair the faulty poor quality roof does not mean the damage inside my home is taken care of.

    Reply from the business

Hi Wendy, I am sorry for the unfortunate circumstances, you are correct, we did not have you personally in our system because your roof was installed on a new construction home and was in our system under your contractor. We do a lot of work with homeowners directly and so I was assuming you had hired us directly on a project that was not new construction. I am sorry for making that assumption. You are correct, there were some issues on your roof, some that were our fault that we have since corrected. We also paid your original contractor to complete interior repairs from the damage. I'm sorry you had to go through that, that is the last thing we want for our customers, and obviously the last thing you want, especially when purchasing a new home. The most recent leak over your garage that you referenced was caused by damage to the roof system from the stucco contractor, and those repairs have since been completed as well. Again, I am sorry for the unfortunate circumstances, and I am sorry I wasn't aware of the circumstances when I replied previously about not having a record of you in our systems.

They came and put new shingles on. Stars and Stripes were supposed to do my fascia. I was upset that Stout left boards with nails up in my yard which my dogs frequent. I contacted Edgar Garcia about the unfinished part of my trim. I have tried to contact him about the unfinished part many times and have not heard back in the three months since they were here. I paid my Bill in full and called and requested a call back and have not heard from them. I believe I did not get refunded for the tiles they did not use.

    Reply from the business

Hi Kim, we are reviewing this internally to identify what happened and what needs to be done to correct any items that have been left unfinished. We will be in touch soon. Thanks - Stout Roofing Management

This company has ghosted me a few times and today when I tried to ascertain why they told me that they won't do business with me because I got disgruntled with an unrelated business once. I'm blacklisted. The woman I spoke to refused to have a manager call me, stretching out a simple request for a manager to return my call. No, she wanted to make me angry, so she stretched out the call for 15 minutes then scolded me for interrupting even though she'd spoken over me repeatedly. I call that finishing a sentence. She then talked over me after knowing that I'm speaking - again. Then she had the gall to scold me for interrupting her, after which I reminded her that I'd just called to speak to a manager. Companies with terrible customer service are prolific in Utah. It's like they are competing against customers. The company they are apparently trying to protect installed an HVAC unit on my roof that was not to code. We have not and are not are not suing them. I have authorized an HVAC company to do the repairs to bring it up to code. I'm paying almost $4000 out of pocket. I'm not a bad customer. Stout could have made $8 to $18k working on my roof. They don't like customers from California, evidently. They seem to think we are all alike. I've never sued anyone. In California businesses treat customers with more respect and attempt to solve problems without court or regulatory intervention. It's a better business climate. I didn't even threaten to sue the company they say I did. I spoke to them much the way I did with Stout. I said that companies who treat elderly disabled customers like this and leave holes in their roofs should expect to be sued. I try to work things out. I've owned my own businesses, I was a licensed realtor for 13 years. I know better. They've treated me horribly.

    Reply from the business

Hi Brandon, I am sorry you had a bad experience, we do strive to have a great customer experiences will all our customers, but we can't be everything to everyone. It's unfortunate to hear your poor outlook on Utah businesses. We are proud to have been able serve the Southern Utah community for the last 25 years and are proud to call it our home. We didn't choose not to do business with you because you are from California, or because of any situation you had with another business in the area. We as a company chose not to do business with you because of the way you treated our office staff when they were on the phone with you. As we try to be professional with our customers, we expect to also be treated with respect in return. We are sorry for the situation and hope you the best of luck in the future.

I want to give a big shout-out to Dave Brown with Stout Roofing. After recently moving into a new home built by S & S Homes, I ran into what appeared to be a structural issue that they showed little interest in addressing—even though the home is only two years old. Stout Roofing had originally installed the roof, but due to timing, I ended up going with another roofer when the issue first came up. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake, as it became clear corners had been cut. That’s when Dave stepped in. Even though Stout wasn’t the company that did the most recent work, Dave took the time to evaluate the situation and ultimately offered to make it right—and he absolutely delivered. He went above and beyond what I expected, showing integrity and a genuine commitment to quality. I’ll admit, I had my doubts about Stout Roofing at first, but after working with Dave, I’ve completely changed my perspective. His professionalism and willingness to stand behind the work have earned my trust, and I wouldn’t hesitate to use Stout Roofing again in the future.

    Reply from the business

Thank you, Jeff, for the thoughtful review and for recognizing Dave Brown’s efforts. We’re proud Dave stepped in to assess and correct the issue and to demonstrate the integrity and quality we strive for. I will share your kind words with him and the entire team. We appreciate your trust and look forward to supporting you with any future roofing needs.

Stout Roofing handled the roof membrane install on my flat roof new-build home in Hurricane. They did the install on 9 other homes in the phase of my development as well. There was issues with the general contractor of my build not contacting Stout after the initial install, and requesting they verify that various vent and exhaust pipes on the roof were sealed after other sub-contractors finished their work. One of my neighbors did have issues with leaks that Stout promptly remedied when notified. I had no evidence of leaks on my home, but Dave had no issues with coming out and verifying that all of my pipes were sealed.

    Reply from the business

Thank you, David, for the thoughtful review. We're glad the membrane install for your new-build went smoothly and that Dave could come out to verify and seal your vents even without evidence of leaks. We appreciate your patience with the general contractor coordination and are pleased we could promptly remedy your neighbor’s leak when notified. If you need anything in the future, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
