  Just received a text message from this business asking “ Hey there, this is South Shore Roofing, we had talked to you after the hurricane about some work you needed done. Did you ever get things taken care of” I called last year about my roof and they are now just getting back to us now. Very Very slow response. If you are needing emergency services, this is not the business to call 6 months later. Do you think I’m waiting around six months for them to call me back? I don’t think so. With 40 years in business, I understand that first impressions are critical, and my initial experience with your company was disappointing. Your follow-up text message failed to improve that impression. Every customer, whether needing a full roof replacement or a minor repair, deserves prompt and respectful service. It’s disheartening that it took nearly a year and this review to prompt a response. I urge you to prioritize timely, professional customer service moving forward.

  Jimmy, We see you had called in the morning after Hurricane Helene hit us on 9/27/24, which had knocked out power for most of the area. For some reason, it looks like you specifically were not responded to until now, and of course - we are sorry for this. Here is why:

 1. Most people in South GA had no power when you called. Many roads were covered in trees that morning — including our office. 2. It took a week after you called us, just to get power on at our office here! 3. At this time, we had over 40 calls during business hours coming in to our office phone system, piling up. Roughly 400~ a day on a running average. (Typically, we get 10-20 roof-need calls a day like any normal company here!!)

 4. Once management had our mobile office setup in a *hotel* the next day, we had to bring in emergency help with almost no training — working until midnight just to help handle the incoming call flow that week, trying to call people back as more keep calling every few minutes, and it looks like someone made a mistake and you were never responded to from someone on the team, and of course -- we apologize. We hate leaving any one who calls us behind no matter what the situation is really. 

 5. Many homeowners then were calling us 3x, 4x, some up to 12x times in a row just to try to find ANY roofer to help them during that hurricane time, because they couldn’t find anyone at all! Our phone system actually crashed because of the amount of calls and we had to have tech support re-do everything that was going on here that week. 6. Because of all the above, it was impossible for us, or for *any* roofer here in the South GA / SC to keep up with the calls for the disaster that occurred during that first week. 

 7. If you drive around neighborhoods here today, you will see that 1000s of homes in our area still need their roofs fixed from Hurricane Helene. Life gets busy! And we all, including myself, push things off when it comes to taking care of our homes sometimes.

  Too busy to do small chimney flashing job. I tried to book an appointment for an estimate on my chimney. The replied back saying unless I needed a new roof or shingle repair they were too busy to help. They said “good luck”. What goes around come around. They won’t be “too busy” forever.

  This company has no office in Beaufort. They come from Savannah. Wanted 50 per cent down and could give me no start or finish date, nor a time frame phrase “no later than.” Had no samples to pick out shingle colors but was willing to give me addresses to check out color. I wanted a roof extension on front of a one floor building and after giving me a price, said I would have to sign a contract with no dates and pay 50 per cent If you have anything other the ordinary, don’t recommend wasting your time.

  I am so sorry Scott somehow we are just seeing this review, Google had flagged a bunch. This was an awkward COVID time for us with a lot of shifting parts and new management. This will NEVER happen again if you or anyone calls us again. We are up-front with our timelines and what we will or will not do on the first phone call!

  These people suck all the way around! My husband called to set up an appt for getting an estimate on our roof - the guy never showed up! Their argument??? That the appt wasn't with ME, the Wife! Then the guy LIES about showing up and going …

  Leslie somehow this review just showed up 4 years later (but I did see it on Yelp in 2019) -- My Original Response in 2019: This is the owner Kyle Patrick - please call me at 678-549-3955 and we can talk about this together if you want to! I hate that you feel this way... and I'm upset that someone on Michael's Roofing crew would say something like that - we work on every single type of home and there is absolutely no difference to us where somebody lives. I'm standing on a double wide roof we did in my LinkedIn profile picture right now! Home is home, and every home and every person we work for matters to me. We all do know there were communication problems - your husband had set the appointment and was in communication with our representative (who no longer works here as of 2020) No one can be certain that our representative didn't get up on the roof at some point either - but each representative from South Shore is required to perform a full roof inspection with our checklist and will also be required to turn in that checklist and upload those photos to our system before a roof can be contracted and ordered at all! The representative that was out there that you had this experience with was let go from here and no longer works with us - and I hope that makes you and everybody else feels better! We pride ourselves on our extreme level of communication with our homeowners, and I wish every single experience could be the same!   This company is an insurance chaser! Thy overcharged the insurance for things that they did not do! Ended up billing us $19,000 for a $13,000 roof job. STAY AWAY from this company.

  Hey Holly!! Goodness I am so sorry for the misunderstanding. This is such a surprise to see this -- We contracted with your husband.. and he loved us and still does! I don't think our staff has met you, and I do know we never signed a contract together. Only 20% of our work is insurance claims, and we handle them just like any collission body shop does after you get into a car wreck: Our contract, pre-start checklist, and in-person contract meeting is clear and goes into how exactly how we work with insurance carriers (exactly the same as any other collision body shop, storm restoration company, insurance law firm, fire and water company does) Also, I believe you guys did save out of pocket money on your deductible as well for some things we were able to get covered for you personally. Your husband and son have loved us throughout the process, and even left us an awesome review!   Need a roof? South Shore is your company. I have dealt with thousands of service businesses in my life. Key Takeaway: Kyle, Kody, Erin and every single crew member at South Shore are the epitome of precisely what you (would hope to) expect when you hire a contractor, except they DELIVER it with top tier Standard Operating Procedures. By any standard, this is the only company I would trust on my property. The communication, financing steps, scheduling, color selection and everything you'd HOPE for in a roofer is right here at South Shore. Including INSANELY competitive pricing and meticulous attention to detail (see photos). My wife and I take our Google Local Guide status seriously, and we send our reviews selectively because we know that members of the community will rely on them. Well, Rely on this: South Shore is the best roofer in the entire greater Savannah area. Full stop. Thanks so much to the team for a top to bottom flawless experience.   Outstanding Service from South Shore Roofing! I highly recommend South Shore Roofing! Their team was professional, thorough, and honest throughout the entire process. They carefully inspected the roof damage, clearly explained what needed to be done, and helped coordinate with my insurance company. They went above and beyond to get additional damages approved that were not included in the original adjuster’s report, including interior repairs from water damage.   Even after a discrepancy and dissatisfaction in some recent chimney chase repair, South Shore was fair in their response to my concerns. They finished with a quality repair, fair pricing and met my expectations for the same top notch customer service I had received with a full roof replacement a year ago. Their customer service reps and project managers are easy to contact and stand behind their installation to meet the highest standards. Thank you South Shore for a satisfactory experience. I will continue to recommend your roofing services!

  Five stars isn’t even enough. They came out and looked at the roof an hour after I called. They saw it was a minor problem, fixed it and charged us nothing. Way beyond our expectations!
