Just wanted an estimate and they kept demanding a scope of work. Terrible customer service.

    Reply from the business

We apologize for any misunderstanding or inconvenience. There are specific Rules and Regulations when it comes to insurance covered work in the State of Illinois that we follow. In these situations, our policy is to always look at the approved scope of work prior to finalizing any estimates. We have found this to be beneficial to the homeowner for a couple of reasons. It is always advantageous to be on the same page with the insurance company to avoid any possible conflicts. Also, we are often able to include certain upgrades at no additional cost to the homeowner, providing them with a better roof system. Reviewing the insurance scope also allows us to make sure the insurance company didn’t miss any items that should have been covered. Not doing so would be a disservice to the homeowner.

They left the old baffles in the attic, installed an expensive fan, with installing an electric outlet as the only instructions to us. They left the conduit and cord dangling. The weight of it pulled the conduit out of the box. They refused to repair it because they “only install the fans”, so their lack of forethought for safety means we have to deal with it. Really uncooperative once they get their money. Go elsewhere.

    Reply from the business

Sandy, we appreciate your feedback; however, our contract clearly states "To install homeowner provided attic fan. Homeowner will do electrical" and this was requested and initialed by homeowner. The reason we cannot do electrical work is because we are not licensed electricians and OSHA regulations do not allow for us to do anything pertaining to electrical. Everything mentioned in your review pertaining to the attic fan is electrical work. That being said, when we received a call to discuss the attic fan, we offered to come out and inspect the issue and were hung up on. We tried to make contact a second time with no response. All that being said, after completion of the contracted work, we were informed that everything went well. We are happy that everything we were contracted to do was completed to your satisfaction. If you would like to further discuss the attic fan issue, please give us a call and we would be happy to do so.

Watch out for these guys! Had my roof replaced privately, but used an estimate from this company from a year or so ago. They were going to overcharge me by half a pallet of shingles. Had over 7 square to return to the supplier. They were 100% going to rob me. Buyer beware.

    Reply from the business

We apologize if there was a misunderstanding; however, nowhere on our estimate does it state any material amounts or measurements. If you are referring to our "office use only" section of the estimate, this section is not for material ordering, it is used for internal tracking purposes only. If you would like a further explanation, feel free to give us a call. Hope everything went well with your roof installation.

I selected Peterson Roofing based on all the good reviews, however, my experience was a bit different. The repair person did not follow instructions listed in the estimate and the initial work that was performed was sloppy. While he did …

My parents used this company and would give no stars if possible. They redid an entire roof to remove mold and promised a resolution with a 7 year warranty. The mold came back 2 years later and Peterson roofing is washing their hands of the situation. $14,000 invested into a dead end. Please avoid this company at all costs.

Stay away from this roofing company. Worst experience ever. Took them 2 weeks just to get an estimate and they are very unprofessional on the phone.

Recently we encountered the beginning of a roof leak in our home. The leak was the cause of combined issues. Several men from Peterson Roofing responded to our residence to solve the problems with a restoration. Just in time before the huge rain storms came. Without getting in the way with observation I was impressed with the pride demonstrated in their work. I observed meticulous craftsmenship with good team work. Their timely completion saved us lots of expense from potential interior damage to our home. We are forever grateful to all those men and Cathy from the office for helping us. We will highly recommend Peterson Roofing to all our neighbors, friends, and family. Sincerely, Tom & Sally Benson
