These roofers are fine if you don't have any problems. If you do have a problem, they don't stand behind their work

I would not recommend this roofing company at all!! If you want nothing but problems, poor workmanship and no customer service then go ahead and use them. Michael Chu is the owner and will argue with you instead of helping fix the situation and make it better. I wish I never used them and I am still having the problem with my roof after 2 years of trying to get him to put a ridge vent up instead of the solar fan that would have cost more and did nothing to help cool down my house like he promised. There are so many other roofing companies to choose from so save yourself the headache and cross MRC roofing off your list of choices. I have had noting but grief with the owner. HORRIBLE!!

While walking around the house I noticed that there could have been some wind damage to my asphalt shingle roof that MRC Roofing installed a few years ago. With the heavy storms and strong winds that we recently had I wanted it checked out just to be safe. So, I called MRC and Jon came out to inspect for damages. He took pictures of every roof face. He then airdropped me all the pictures of my perfectly fine roof onto my phone. I was relieved to know that their work done years ago was perfectly intact. Finding a solid and reputable company that stands behind their workmanship even years later is hard to come by these days. And even though Jon has been ridiculously busy after these recent storms I was extremely impressed by his response time in getting my roof inspected for possible damages. This just goes to show you that MRC makes time for their customers during their busiest of schedules. Jon even went above and beyond and checked my solar attic fan that that was also installed by them to ensure it was working properly. That simple attic fan has probably saved me money by cooling down the interior of the house. I highly recommend MRC roofing because they stand by their workmanship, their customer service goes above and beyond, and they are there when you need them the most. Mahalo Jon and MRC Roofing.

We have a flat roof with cap sheet and silicone coating. In late January during flash flood rain, water pooled up and entered the home via skylight and dryer vent, flooding the 1st floor. Mike came recommended to me and was one of 6 roofers that I spoke with. Mike and MRC Roofing were proactive and very responsive. They emphasize quality components and work with you to design the right solution. They helped me add a secondary drain system and came up with a solution to divert the downspouts that emptied onto my 1st floor roof. MRC Roofing is fair and honest about what you really need, and when you've got a budget, they work with you to find creative and effective solutions that address the task at hand. Mike Chu and his team were amazing. They have decades of experience. As a more involved home owner, I like to understand the problem, will discuss solutions, and want to understand what is being proposed and why. Mike was a great for me as he was patient and helpful in explaining what I really needed. His team was highly professional, super efficient, and the work looked fantastic. The roof looks great, and I feel safe and at ease about the next rain storm. With MRC Roofing, you get high quality, a good experience. Thank you Mike and MRC Roofing! Highly recommended.

MRC reroofed our pool house last year with Canadian cedar shake. It turned out so well that we decided to come back to reroof the main house. As before, MRC out right away for a free estimate. Victor, the salesman advises us that the building code now specifies that we needed to add a new layer of plywood since Hawaii is now listed as a hurricane susceptible state. In addition to the roof, MRC expertly installed two new skylights in our kitchen and bathroom. MRC’s crew cleaned up after themselves single every night. They even took their porta-potty away. The crew was polite and efficient from start to finish, The MRC team completed the job in a week. The new wood shakes come with a 50-year material warranty and a 7-year workmanship warranty. MRC used stainless steel fasteners and nails since we live near the beach. They are not as susceptible to salt air damage as galvanized nails. We were pleased that they were able to save us some money by reusing our stainless steel valley metal in the process of the construction. We unreservedly recommend MRC Roofing. They are far and away better than any of the roofers we have contacted or used in the past.

It was finally time to reroof my house with new shingles. MRC Roofing provided me with a quote to install new rubberized asphalt shingles made by Malarkey. My current shingles didn’t have rubberized asphalt and so they were brittle and breaking off in the wind. I chose a line of shingles called Malarkey Highlander that had a light reflective quality. MRC started my roof on a Friday. They weren’t able to get the shingles delivered on time so they installed two layers of underlayment so that my house would be watertight over the weekend. The shingle supply house upgraded me to a heavier shingle (Malarkey Vista) for free. On Monday my roof was finished. I got a free 2nd layer of felt underlayment and a free shingle upgrade. MRC also provided a free solar attic fan as a promotional last month. Because MRC is a certified installer for Malarkey shingles, they were able to provide me with an extended warranty for only 10 cents a square foot, which covers labor (25 years) and material (50 years). The warranty is also transferable one time to a new owner. I highly recommend MRC Roofing if you are looking for a quality installation.

Heavy rain and strong winds created a leak at my rental property in Honolulu. My tenants weren’t too thrilled about it. I needed immediate service since I wasn’t able to diagnose the problem myself. The leak was coming in over my flat roof but it turns out that the water was coming in at the pitched shingle roof and flowing down hill and under the flat roofing material/system. MRC was able to determine this cause within their first inspection. They tarped my roof for free until they could schedule the reroofing project for a later date, which was a life saver because it kept raining daily. Then when the weather cleared up, they scheduled the job to reroof the shingle section of the house. This stopped the leak and now I have a warranty on my roof and I have happy tenants. I don’t live on island but the communication and pictures that MRC provided throughout the process made it feel as if I was there the whole time. MRC described the whole situation to me. They even threw a little extra silicone water proofing around the skylight curbs just in case. That’s what I call value added service. Don’t hesitate to call MRC Roofing if you have a roof issue.

I had a leak in my roof under my hot water solar panel. MRC was able to coordinate with my solar contractor so that they could be there at the same time. MRC made sure that the penetrations into my metal roof were sealed properly once the solar was removed. MRC also coated my flat roof with silicone. The communication between MRC, the solar contractor and myself was very good, and the job was done in one day. I am a previous customer of MRC’s and I’m glad that I called them again. One solar contractor that I spoke with told me that the sections of metal roofing under my solar panel needed to be replaced. MRC told me that was incorrect and over kill for such a minor repair. With the money I saved on metal roof panel replacement I was able to put toward coating my flat roof with silicone. A lot of my neighbors have coated their roofs with silicone also instead of tearing off their existing roofs. The nice thing about silicone is that Hawaii’s algae can’t embed into it, which means it will be easy to keep clean in the future. If you’re looking for an honest roofing company. I highly recommend MRC.

Hello Eric, It was a pleasure doing business with you again. I'm glad the other roofing company didn't talk you into replacing your whole standing seam metal roof when all it needed was a repair. Your metal roof has many years of life still left in it. It's not showing any signs of rust or decay. It just had a couple of improper drill holes in it from the previous solar contractor and a couple of loose laps from the original roofing installer. The new silicone we installed over the carport is going to be a permanent solution for you, with no maintenance coatings needed in the future because silicone is inert to the sun's UV and to water. Thank you for your business!

You are very welcome, Jenna. MRC Roofing would love to extend your current roof warranty for another 20 years with a topcoat of GAF Unisil silicone. Your roof is in the perfect condition for a fresh topcoat. Your original coating saved the galvanized roofing panels from rusting out years ago, which happens all the time to galvanized roofing in our tropical climate. Let's keep it in good condition. Mahalo.

Hello Koa, Your roof was challenging from beginning to end but we got through it in flying colors, didn't we? A lot of moving parts with your job from insurance, PV electric and three different systems (built up, silicone and metal). I'm glad you chose MRC or I'm afraid you would have gotten shorted on a lot of aspects concerning your roof project. Rebuilding your crickets properly was something that only MRC could have done as opposed to the other roofing contractors who bid your job, and making sure that your damage claim covered the unforeseen carpentry costs is something that is in our wheelhouse. Aloha

Hello Gail, It was a pleasure working with you. Your roof turned out beautiful and everything ran smooth on your job. It was also nice that your insurance carrier was eventually helpful with supporting your claim. We were able to address the leaks that were coming in around your skylights and we eventually found that pesky leak near your fireplace. It's been a few years now and your copper shingles are just now starting to get that neat patina. I'm glad we were able to install the solar fan near the master bedroom. I bet that helps a lot. I like that were able to showcase your roof with a drone flyover video that the shingle manufacturer appreciated also. Thank you for the kind review.
