  Had a new roof and three 22" Velox Sun Tunnels installed on our new home back in fall of last year. Roof had quite a few exposed nails showing and quite a few "patches" where other nails weren't installed high enough on the shingles. I was told that this was "normal" but when other roofers inspected it, they said to have a couple was understandable but not the amount we had. During winter had a snow pile in our attic from one of the roof vent locations above our garage. Later when it was warmer and raining quite a bit, had a puddle of water in the attic. Not surprised there are leaks based on how many nails were below the shingle line. Jason says we have bad ventilation. We don't. Our ventilation is very good in the attic and over 50% of our soffit and deck and porch overhang is perforated soffit. The wind blows through our attic. We've had in numerous roofing companies for other installations and they all said that the vents Jason put on our roof were incorrectly done. Jason still wants to blame me for the vents he cut and put in. Nice. Jason said that he was very experienced with Velox Sun Tunnels and offered to install our 3 units. All 3 units have water/ condensation on the lens AND between the lenses, along with lots of dead flies. The Tunnels are supposed to be foil taped at all connections so that flies can't get in. Clearly since they are getting in, they missed far too many places with the tape. Jason wants to blame me because his guy missed some places with the tape. I helped him in the attic but by no means was i running the installation! Take responsibility for missing cracks and stop blaming the homeowner for your mistakes! Velox says there are special winter/Canada/ North kits available for the Sun tunnels because they know there are issues with condensation in northern climates. I was not told about these kits by Jason but was told that there was no insulation required for the tubes going up to the lens. Clearly it's require

  Tim. I am very sorry to hear of the problems that you are having with the Velux Sun Tunnels and the ventilation issues in your attic space. As for the low nails, this is something that happens occasionally. We install our nails as low as possible on the shingles to prevent shingle blow offs. If we see a nail is a tiny bit too low and will not be covered by the shingle above it, we cut a small triangle of shingle off of one of the top corners of a shingle, and install that piece over top of the slightly exposed nail head. If we miss any, we can add these pieces in after the fact or even put a small amount of silicone over a partial nail head exposed. This is common practice when installing shingles. These low nails, when properly covered, do not lead to roof leaks. When you had me come out to your home to install the inside parts of the sun tunnels, you had already had some insulation work done around the perimeter of your attic space. Whomever did the work, did it improperly. I told you that, and I showed it to you. Having a brand new home, the ventilation should be how the Ontario Building Code calls out for it to be done. You should have perforated soffit every 36", along with rafter vents directly lined up with your perforated soffit. Your rafter vents were approximately every 72" apart. All of the other spaces between the roof trusses were packed with insulation. You DO NOT have enough intake ventilation. I told you it was going to be a problem, and now it is. Your home not even being more than a couple months old already has problems in the attic. We installed enough standard exhaust vents (Lomanco 750's) to adequately exhaust your attic space. You do not have enough intake vents. That is exactly why you are getting snow and water in your attic. The ventilation system is not working the way it should, and at least one of your exhaust vents is acting as an intake vent. I have a lot of experience installing Sun Tunnels. I told you that I had not install

If you’re looking for a company that stands behind its word and delivers excellent workmanship with a warranty, this is the roofing company to reach out to. Jason, the owner, will always answer your questions thoroughly and make you feel at ease. He didn’t attempt to replace a full roof unnecessarily as other companies try to often do. He replaced a section instead and stabilized the rest of the roof that has plenty of life left in it. Reach out to Mill’s roofing first. You’ll be happy you did.

  Jason and his team did an amazing job on replacing my roof in March 2025. It was done quickly and efficiently. I also appreciated that they took extra time and care to make sure there was no small debris left behind. We really appreciated this with having small kids and a dog.   Jason and his team recently completed our roof in 2023 with 100% satisfaction. From the initial meeting for a quote until the finished job, he was honest, knowledgeable, communicative and suggestive of things we could consider doing while never being pushy. His attention to detail was displayed from start to finish. Despite working in hot weather, his team was always cheerful and respectful of us and our home.
