Matrix has an impressive website so I had some hope for a good experience with them. Matrix's website goes on and on about how competent, honest and fair they are. Unfortunately, they sent out an estimator who seemed to know less about roofs than the average homeowner. He appeared to be inexperienced and didn't even have common sense. He even made several inappropriate comments. He told me my roof was shot and needed to be replaced asap. I was shocked when he sent me a bid of almost $28,000 for a new roof on a 1,400 sf home. Or ~$20/sf. The internet estimates: Average cost for a new asphalt roof ranges from $4 -$8 psf. The same day, I had a very reputable local roofing contractor inspect my roof who said that it wasn't in bad shape at all, needed only some minor repairs and maintenance, and had several years of life remaining. Shame on Matrix!

Hired them to do a roof inspection prior to putting my home on the market and they didn't inspect it properly. The new buyer did their own inspection on my home later and found a problem with my roof that they missed. They then refused to fix the problem. Terrible company to deal with. I would NOT recommend them to ANYONE. They're very incompetent and lack good customer service skills.

They came out and and looked at my roof, the guy was very nice and checked everything out and said he would have a bid for me in a day or so. Never heard back from them. I tried to call them back and just got some weird service selling vacations or something like that.

Thank you for sharing your experience and especially since it wasn't the best - since it gives us the opportunity to grow and change for the better. Having someone come out to bid and then not receiving the bid is understandably frustrating. After careful review of your file, it appears that we had an incorrect email on your account but they never "bounced". Your home deserves proper attention, and you deserve follow through and trust. We hope that our conversation with you helped, and should you ever give us another chance, we promise to do better with your job. Take care.

Jared - it was very hard to respond to this review, but we decided to just supply facts. Our job at the 14700 address back in 2022 was with Sheana Hawes, your girlfriend, we've been told. We have no record of conversations with you. At that time, we made two estimates, one for a full complex repair of $5204.35 and one temporary for a caulking of the area $354.58. We recommended the more expensive repair due to the nature of this leak, but she chose the lesser one. Our repair worked and the leak stopped. Since the more extensive repair wasn't chosen, the area surrounding wasn't addressed so apparently the leak returned. None of our notes or emails with Sheana mentions insurance - as that would have been a different path. It's hard to see someone blame a company for their choice in a repair. We offered to fix it the right way and the temporary fix was chosen. When you recently reached out to us, we explained this situation in detail and we understand you're not happy, but unsure of why you're unhappy with us. The quote you received recently included a full repair of this area and we didn't offer a temporary fix as clearly this issue would come up again. When you threatened us with bad reviews if we didn't fix this, we didn't back down because this was a choice made by a homeowner, not a workmanship issue. We appreciate your feedback and will utilize the information as an opportunity to grow, but felt the need to explain a "not so simple" situation to any future customers.

So I asked them to assess my 23-year-old-roof's condition and quote a price to replace its cedar shingles. Their estimator was very professional. Presumably he conducted a thorough inspection of my roof. Their bid was nine time the cost of the new roof. Nine times. I can buy a brand-spankin' new Land Rover or Porsche Cayenne for less money than their bid. I advised them of this and as I type this, their response is, well, quieter than a colony of crickets outside your window.

From the beginning, we loved our experience with Matrix. We got several estimates for a roof tear-off and replacement and new gutters. We weren’t sure which to choose. Then we heard about Matrix and that it is woman-owned, so we had them come out for an estimate too, Their estimate came in close to the same as the others, so we went with the woman-owned company. They communicated well throughout. When the workers showed up, they were prepared and got to work immediately. It was loud, sure, but we knew it had to be. We hunkered down with our dogs, and the crew had the roof up in under three days, then came on the fourth day to do the gutters. The only things you really hope for in these situations is that the company knows what they’re doing and that they’re able and willing to do it well. Because what do I know about roof replacement? Nothing. That’s what. Thankfully Wendy, Sarah, and all their crew members know what they’re doing, and they made us trust them. The roof and gutters look great. Oh, and the week after the roof, we got new windows, which meant the flashing that Matrix had done wouldn’t work. Matrix sent someone out within just two hours to get it fixed so the window crew could keep working.

Here's the Google Response Maven response: "What do I know about roof replacement? Nothing. That's what." Honestly, one of the most honest and relatable lines we've ever read. 😂 That's the truth for most homeowners, and it's exactly why trust matters more than technical knowledge on your end. You can't evaluate flashing techniques or underlayment quality yourself, you're relying entirely on whether the people doing the work actually know what they're doing and care enough to do it right. You chose to get an estimate from Matrix specifically because we're woman-owned, and Wendy would be the first to tell you how much that means to her personally. When the pricing came in comparable to other bids, that gave you the freedom to choose based on values, not just numbers, and we're honored that mattered enough to tip the decision. Then came the part that actually earns trust: showing up prepared, working efficiently (yes, loudly - tear-offs aren't quiet, we won't pretend otherwise), and finishing the roof in under three days before moving straight into gutters on day four. No lingering. No excuses. Just steady, visible progress you could watch happen from your window while you and your dogs hunkered down. And then the flashing situation. New windows installed a week later meant our original flashing needed adjustment. It wasn't our mistake, but that didn't matter, it's just how sequential home projects sometimes work. We got someone out in two hours so your window crew never lost momentum. That's the kind of responsiveness that turns a good experience into a genuinely trustworthy one. Homeowners weighing multiple bids and wondering if values-based decisions still deliver quality results: They do. Comparable pricing, exceptional execution, and a company that shows up fast when something unexpected comes up. Thank you for trusting Wendy, Sarah, and the whole crew — and for such a thoughtful, honest review. When "nothing" is what you know about roofing, but everythi

We had a great experience working with Matrix on a roof repair. We found that they were fair and flexible with their pricing, did quality work, communicated really well and kept us updated, and started and completed the project on time as planned. They were also very responsive when we had a small concern after the project was completed and came out to inspect and ensure that everything was OK the next day. Having worked with some companies who don’t deliver consistently and don’t follow through and follow up, we really appreciate when a company does all of that well. We would work with Matrix again without hesitation.

"Having worked with some companies who don't deliver consistently" – this customer knows the difference between talk and actually following through. 🎯 You've been burned before. Bad contractors who promise communication and disappear. Companies who cut corners on quality. Projects that drag past deadlines without explanation. Responsive service that evaporates the moment you sign the contract. So when you found all of that reversed with Matrix – fair pricing without games, quality work without shortcuts, real communication with actual updates, on-time delivery like we promised – it landed differently. Not because we're exceptional, but because you've experienced what exceptional actually requires. And then came the moment most contractors miss: you had a small concern after completion. Our response? Show up the next day to inspect and reassure you everything's actually okay. That's not customer service theater. That's a company that genuinely believes the relationship doesn't end when the invoice is paid. "Would work with Matrix again without hesitation" isn't just praise – it's relief. Relief that you found a contractor who delivers what they promise and actually means it. Relief that you don't have to stress about the next project going sideways. Homeowners who've had bad contractor experiences: Once you work with a company that actually follows through on everything – pricing, quality, communication, timing, and post-project care – you stop settling for less. Thanks for the honest appreciation and for giving us the chance to prove consistency still exists. When a customer who's experienced bad contractors says "without hesitation" – that's Matrix earning trust the only way that matters: through actual delivery. 🏠

"I'm not a fan of the platform... but the Matrix team more than made up for it." – That's honest feedback we absolutely hear. Thank you for this detailed, balanced review. Seriously. Most customers either rave about everything or complain about everything. You did something harder – you called out a legitimate gap (our invoicing/photo platform could use some work) while simultaneously proving our people are excellent enough to overcome tech limitations. That kind of honest feedback is actually invaluable because it tells us where we need to improve. You're right – the platform isn't perfect. We know it. We're working on it. But here's what this review reveals: when your tech falls short, exceptional humans can compensate. Sarah and Jennifer's responsiveness, your estimator's friendliness and knowledge, your technician's punctuality and respect – THAT'S what customers remember. That's what drives 10/10 experiences even when the backend systems aren't flawless. The inside joke about knocking louder? That's the kind of authentic human moment that reminds us why we're in this business. Not to be perfect, but to genuinely connect and deliver when it matters. You brought professionalism, we brought professionalism back. You expected quality, we delivered exceptional work. You valued your time, we respected it completely. For tech-savvy customers who care about both substance AND systems: Matrix is genuinely listening to feedback like this and we review best practices because of it. We're not defensive, we're committed to getting better while staying focused on what we do best: exceptional people doing exceptional work. Thanks for the honest, thoughtful review and for holding us accountable to be better. When customers are honest enough to critique the platform and smart enough to recognize the people who matter most – that's the feedback that drives real improvement. 🏠

Few work on tile roofs, Matrix does and obviously cares and can be counted on to do a very thorough job. Moss prevention, properly cleaning the roof and it's valleys-- and finally the gutters, I was no doubt impressed. Great job Sarah, Moe and the rest of the team-- your efforts are recognized and very much appreciated, Paul

When our 20-year-old roof developed a leak, we were faced with a costly repair with a large area of shingles that would not match. Knowing that we would need everything else replaced in five years or so, we opted for a complete replacement. A neighbor recommended we get one of our bids from Matrix, and they ended up as the company we chose. They showed up the day they said they would and finished in the time frame they quoted. I was particularly pleased that they worked with me to ensure that our Starlink never went down! The quality of the work is exceptional, the cost was less than we expected, and we are very pleased with job they did. Five stars!!

Matrix Roof & Home did a wonderful job gently cleaning our roof at our house in Ridgefield, Washington. They were very communicative the whole time and super veteran friendly. Would recommend them. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Reply from the business
"Super veteran friendly" – that's not just a service detail, that's who Matrix chooses to be. Ridgefield, Washington. Gentle roof cleaning. Very communicative. And specifically: veteran friendly. That last detail matters because it reveals something about Matrix's actual values – not the marketing version, but the real version. We genuinely respect and support the people who've served this country, and it shows up in how we interact with them. Gentle roof cleaning means we understand that your home isn't just an asset to strip down – it's a sanctuary to protect. Our crews know the difference between aggressive pressure-washing that damages and thoughtful cleaning that preserves. Communication throughout means you're never wondering what's happening to your roof or your property. But the veteran friendliness? That's Matrix saying we see you, we appreciate you, and we're honored to serve the people who've already served all of us. Veterans and military families in our community: When a company makes a point to be genuinely veteran-friendly (not just in advertising, but in actual interactions), that's worth remembering when you need roofing work. Thanks for the five-star review and for your service – Matrix is proud to support our veteran neighbors in Ridgefield and throughout the region. When "veteran friendly" becomes part of how you do business, not just something you claim – that's Matrix living its values. 🏠
