  Hired Joel to install a TPO roof for a 10 by 10 shed I built. Price seemed fair, though when he came for me to sign contract, he informed me he would have to swap out the agreed upon DensDeck underlayment for a cheaper Atlas product if I wanted to keep the same price. Seemed a bit of a bait and switch, but I agreed to the change regardless. He started the job a week later. He told me he would have to remove three fascia boards around the shed perimeter in order to have room to install the metal roof cap. Joel didn't seem to like it if I asked him too many questions about how the job was going, so I just decided to let him do his work and I would check the job after he was gone. After he completed the job, I had a look and first saw that the fascia boards were uneven and bowed. Upon closer inspection, I could see that all of the 22 screws he had used to re-attach the fascia boards were completely stripped. This was obviously a problem, as it would be extremely difficult to remove the stripped screws in order to prime and paint the boards. I called Joel to explain the problem, and he immediately claimed that the screws had already been stripped before he arrived on the job. I told him that was impossible, as if they had already been stripped, there is no way he would have been able to remove the boards and then reinstall them if the screws were already stripped. Instead of owning up to the mistake, he just started practically yelling at me. I tried to stop his shouting, but he just rudely hung up on me. He then texted me that I "should be grateful" that he put the boards back on for free and that somehow I was the one who was not being professional. That comment was absurd—yes, he put them on for free, but he also ruined them "for free." I hired someone to attempt to remove the boards with a pry bar and hacksaw, but this just ended up wrecking all the boards. I can tolerate a contractor who is unfriendly or dismissive as long as the work is done professionally and cor

We must clarify that the claims you have made are not accurate and misrepresent the work performed. The fascia boards in question were originally installed by an unlicensed contractor prior to our involvement. These boards were uneven and had improperly installed screws, which caused damage and stripping. As a courtesy, and at no additional charge to you, we assisted in reinstalling these boards to allow for proper TPO roof installation. The stripped screws you reference predated our work and were the result of the prior installation, not any action taken by our team. Regarding the underlayment, the change from DensDeck to Atlas was communicated transparently before work began. This adjustment was necessary to maintain the agreed-upon price and did not compromise the integrity of the roofing system. We take pride in the quality and professionalism of our work, and we regret any misunderstandings. However, it is important to note that the issues described in your message are a direct result of prior poor workmanship, not the efforts of our licensed and certified team. We remain committed to helping you with any legitimate concerns regarding the TPO roof system itself, but we cannot accept responsibility for pre-existing damage caused by another party.   Joel's roofing company has been working for almost a month now to put up a new roof and rain gutters, apparently because it took 2 weeks for "parts to come." Beyond this, his (Joel, not his workers) demeanor is unprofessional at best and borders on cruel at worst, including speaking very inappropriately about neighbors very loudly while they are home and can hear him! I would not recommend their services due to what appears to be inefficiency, unprofessionalism, and excessive noise. With all these other bad reviews, save yourself the mistake of going with this company.

  To the renter next door who works from home. Metal roofs are not put on with out noise. We are installing a snap lock system which involves a rubber mallet. To ask my roofers to stop this is not a request that we can help you with. We apologize your neighbors did not inform you that they were getting a metal roof installed. I suggest if your upset with the roof being put on next door you should take that up with Goleta City permit office. If you are mad because materials are not on time then I suggest you take that up with the State who cut back all truck drivers hours for material deliveries . I also suggest stop flashing my workers while they are working per our Foreman report.

  One roof repair didn't seem to hold up and the other didn't address the leak we showed during the appraisal. We are use another company to identify the cause of the leak correctly and finish the job properly.

  Jamie, Please know that any deviation to your original contract is considered a "Change Order" because the scope of work has changed, which likely alters the timeline and /or price. I'm happy to, and do, process change orders for additional work that customers request. I'm happy to process your change order.   I called for an estimate and Joel the owner told me he won't come out for less than $600. WOW! Then we made arrangements for him to come to my home the next morning at10:00AM and he flaked. He did not come over nor did he even call to say he could not make it. He has never returned my call; he just blew me off. What a joke. He could have had a huge gutter job worth thousands of dollars. I my opinion, this kind of contractor is trouble and I would strongly tell new customers AVOID calling or hiring his company.

  Austin, Joel's is a small specialty roofing and rain gutter company with less than 9 employees. As a result we need to focus on projects of at least $600 or more during the busy season so as to not over commit ourselves. Please understand quoting any job takes time and I just like to set everyone's expectations correctly. However, during an off-season, this minimum is waived. I respect my client's time (as I expect my time to be respected), so I sincerely apologize if I or any of my estimators did not make a meeting.   Joel's Roofing is the most unethical subcontractor my husband and I have ever dealt with. He says all the right things up front and his web site is impressive but do not trust this man! He bilked us out of $1000. In talking to other people in the field about our experience they were not surprised at all as his reputation in the field is unethical and underhanded.

  I rarely write reviews but today I wanted to take a moment to thank Joel from Joel’s Roofing and Rain Gutter for an amazing experience. We have a PVC material on a flat roof that had developed pin holes, and the sub-roof had a large area of dry rot. I called him for a second opinion as the initial bid included ripping off the entire roof and replacing the PVC because it wasn’t a material that patches could be adhered to. Joel said he could cut out the bad section and adhere new material to the damaged area. His bid, provided within 24 hours, was 10% of the original quote. When he opened things up it the dry rot was more extensive, but he honored his initial bid. I was shocked and incredibly pleased since most contractors always exploit the “surprises”. Even with all the additional work he power washed the roof and cleaned the windows without even being asked. Make sure you call Joel to get a quote if you need any work done on your roof or gutters. Five stars!!

  Here are two words not often found in the same sentence: contractor and enjoyable. However, in Joel Grusinski's case (Joel's Roofing and Rain Gutter Co.), these words meet up. It was a pleasure working with Joel to reroof our house. As a CertainTeed certified select shingle master he is knowledgeable in all aspects of roofing. And it shows in his attention to detail. I also appreciated the fact that he was almost always on site either doing the work himself and/or supervising his crew. He offered a fair and reasonable price and completed the roof on schedule. Whenever there was a discretionary decision to be made, he consulted with me on the options and implications. And by the way, no surprises. I would definitely recommend Joel's Roofing and Rain Gutter Co.

  I ultimately hired Joel’s Roofing to re-roof my house. But, I first selected the shingle manufacturer and shingle I wanted. I chose CertainTeed and their Landmark TL shingle. (They are well known for their popular Presidential shingle.) They offer a 50 yr warranty if installed by a reputable company certified by CertainTeed as a “Select ShingleMaster”. (There are several in town.) Reed the warranty for details. I got three quotes from local roofing companies. Joel’s Roofing was low bid and he was willing to work with me and my budget. I have not been disappointed. Joel is onsite and hands on with the installation. He is skilled, knowledgeable and executed the installation on schedule and on budget. Workmanship is A+ and by the book. Issues always arise and he was frank, honest and transparent. I would re-hire for the next project. Definitely call him for a quote.

  Joel was easy to work with, was efficient, gave a reasonable quote, assisted with the paperwork with our mobile home park so that I didn't have to do anything. That alone is worth a ton! The roof turned out amazing, was super quick and have had no issues. Most importantly, with our most recent rains I have peace of mind that there are no leaks or issues.
