  Clown show. Not how Canadians treat each other. They just cancelled our signed contract after pushing back our job over and over with zero communication. I own a trades business and Jays company has no morals or customer service. Even when we explained that we need a roof finished our renovation and we have a child with autism that needs a home this fall....no care. they just cancelled our signed contract. they claim to have staffing issues....well if you treat your staff as terrible as your clients I'm not surprised. no values. no morals. not proud Canadian company absolutely terrible ...once you sign the contract they change completely! No one eill get a hold of you. Then Boom your whole life is turned upside down. Worst contractor Ive ever dealt with.

  Johnathan, we understand your frustration. We have tried to compromise and work with you to find a resolution. You have leveraged this review against us in that proposed compromise. We are disappointed you have chosen to attack our integrity and made assumptions towards our staff and management. Unfortunately, our business and trade has experienced severe supply chain issues as expressed to you openly. Based on your timelines, projects scope and your interactions with our staff we determined we could not meet the expectations or timeline. We do feel we have made the wright and responsible decision in canceling the contract. Our responsibility is always to deliver a quality roof with exceptional service. We have learned from 20 years of doing business that not all clients are a good fit for our business. We reserve the right to not engage in a project if we feel a client is abusive, overly aggressive or demanding . We hope you understand our decision and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

  I have had a VERY different experience and reach out because of reviews; yes their was quick response. Then it just went downhill; one person askes for information but as soon as you need more information you are handed off to a link to start the process all over again...

  I almost didn't write this review, because it's my interpretation of events, and others might interpret them differently. It is about the professionalism (or my perceived lack thereof) of Jay Carter Roofing, and how it damaged my relationship with my neighbor. I think others should consider this sort of thing before choosing to use Jay Carter. The back-story (apologies in advance for the verbosity): Back in 2015, my neighbour (attached) engaged Jay Carter for some roofing. Apparently their roof had been leaking, and they were in a hurry to get it fixed. They also wanted to replace their eavestroughs and downspouts. Because we are attached, my neighbour asked if we would like to go in on a joint project, doing the whole house. We had just moved in, and our home inspector had told us that the roof was only 5 years old, so we declined to go joint on the roof. We did, however, discuss the eavestroughs, downspouts, and soffits with Jay. He spent a fair amount of time explaining the work, and convinced me that we should have this work done. So we got a quote. The price seemed reasonable, but we had questions. (We always have questions.) I don't think they were unreasonable questions. They included request for explanation of some of the terminology in the quote, what the quote included, how the pricing was separated between neighbours, an inquiry into different colours / materials / styles, and when the work would begin / end. I e-mailed the questions and didn't get a response. Then I called and left voicemail, and still didn't get a response. I didn't really pursue it, since I did not initiate this project. My neighbor asked me what was happening, and I summarized: Jay Carter wasn't getting back to me with answers to my questions. Jay Carter told my neighbours that they never received e-mails or phone calls from me. I tried again: e-mailing, calling (two different phone numbers). I finally got them on the phone and got answers to those questions. I

We do also apologize for this as it was not our intention. We also understand that the relationship between you and your neighbor has become strained over the failed joint roofing project. However, we would never talk poorly about another potential customer (it just does not make sense to conduct business that way). We truly do appreciate all opportunities big or small. As we had explained, your neighbours home was actively leaking and required immediate repairs. We did spend a number of hours coordinating and delivering samples to combine the two projects. Unfortunately we did not get your commitment in time and had to move forward with your neighbours repair. We do wish you well and appreciate the feed back.

  Called to ask for an emergency roof repair on Thursday during business hours. Nobody answered, and I left a VM with my cell phone number in the general voice mailbox. Got no response, so I called back on Saturday and left another VM in the general voice mailbox. No calls back ever since. Looks like this company doesn't need any new customers or this is just a bad customer service.

  I recently had snow guards installed on my metal roof. As promised by the estimator, Larry Smart, the snow guards were installed before the snow flies for the 2023 winter season. I'm very happy with the design and colour selection of the product provided for installation on the roof. The true test of satisfaction will be determined over the course of this winter. Jay Carter Roofing and Sheet Metal initially installed the metal roof on my home. I was very satisfied with the product and workmanship at the time so I didn't hesitate in reaching out to them for the purchase and installation of snow guards this summer. The process went very smoothly. From initial contact, the estimate, to the installation, everything done as anticipated and expected. Thanks again!

  Jay Carter installed our roof 8 years ago, and after some high winds recently, I noticed 1 missing and 1 loose shingle. I called Jay Carter, and they quickly had someone come over to fix it, and at no cost (under warranty). Great to know that the after-sale service was as excellent as the service we got when it was installed.

  Working with Jay and his team was a 10/10 all around. We did a standing seam metal roof on an island property boathouse in Muskoka. Jay came back right away with a detailed quote (with various options to consider), and was able to come out in just a few weeks to do the job. Could barely get a quote out of other roofers, and some of them were highway robbery due to the complexity of the job. The installers were very professional and courteous and kept the site clean and safe. Jay kept the job on time and 100% on budget.

  We had an excellent experience with Jay Carter Roofing. We needed a new roof, gutter and downspout for a newly built porch. We sent pictures, explained what we need, received a quote and contract all on-line. Once we accepted the work was completed in a timely way and to a very high quality. We're delighted with the job and would certainly recommend Jay Carter Roofing.

  Jay was very responsive to my initial reachout. Once the roof was inspected, he gave an honest opinion and didn't try to oversell the required fix. When it came to the repair, he completed the work within a day, was professional and explained everything that was being done. Very friendly and was able to answer all my questions. Thanks Jay!

  Jay and his team were super responsive, quick to get the work done and very professional. When I contacted them I was expecting to be sold a new roof but was quickly assured it wasn't required and was given a super reasonable price of repair. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend Jay Carter Roofing.
