Roof is fading in patches It’s approx 20 years old and colour is not holding up. I have inquired to see if they will do anything about it. Sales guy would not communicate with me about the issue nor would he communicate internally to address it, and had me send message to service and now I wait for a reply. Sales guy actually mentioned I have the old type of coating which is supposed to be even better than the new one. He mentioned they downgraded the paint warranty from 50’to 25 years in the new coating. So we will see if they will cover the original 50 year warranty. Stay tuned, I will update if/when I hear back. Update, very disappointed Only replied after they saw my google review. They will not do anything to address faulty paint which they admit is faulty. Just Look at other reviews w roof less than half the age as mine w same issue. So expect zero when your paint fades and house looks like crap in a few years. So much for “last roof ever have to buy.” They didn’t even have a suggestion on who to contract to do the re-painting. House down the street has a different metal roof twice as old and still looks new compared to mine. They also seem to take issue that I was not the original purchaser but inherited the roof when we purchased the house. In the end we are extremely disappointed and anxious to having to get the roof repaired or replaced at our own cost.

PLEASE READ IF FINANCING I want to warn people about the dishonest quote process. We were quoted our roof install and given a final price with a monthly payment. I asked the obvious question (which is not on the quote) if “how many years?”. The answer was “Five”. Seems straight forward. We signed our contract. The next morning, after doing some quick math in my head, I thought that the payment seemed low. So we checked the financing small print. The roof was financed with a 5 year term amortized over 20 years! Meaning after the five years we would have still owed 80 per cent of the principal. I was told that is how they quote the monthly payment on the quote. This is extremely dishonest. We were able to change the terms of our loan with Financit before install, but our monthly payment is close double what was written on the quote with which we made our decision. We were not intending to take a second mortgage on our roof! We did not see this on any of the financing applications but I guess it must have been squeezed in the fine print. That part is on us. If we had not noticed this before install, we would not have known until we expected to have the loan paid in five years. Judging their integrity from this business practice, we are worried about the actual product we were pitched. Hope this helps somebody in the future avoid the costly mistake we made.

Hi Michael, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that the financing process caused frustration. We want to clarify that financing terms, including the amortization period, are determined by the financing provider and are disclosed in the financing agreement. The monthly payment shown on our quote reflects the payment based on the financing option selected, but we understand that the distinction between the loan term and the amortization period can be confusing if it isn't discussed clearly. We're glad you reviewed the financing details before installation and were able to adjust your financing terms to better suit your needs. We agree that it's important for customers to fully understand all financing options before making a decision, and we'll use your feedback to reinforce those conversations with future customers. Regarding your concerns about our integrity and workmanship, we hope the quality of your completed roof demonstrates the care and craftsmanship we take pride in. If you have any questions or concerns about your roof or your overall experience, we'd welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly. Thank you again for your feedback, and we appreciate your business.

Hi Sandra, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for bringing this to our attention. Yesterday, our Project Manager Matt spoke with you directly to go over your concerns. After reviewing everything together, we confirmed the screws are properly secured, and the few nails that missed the lumber have been identified. Our installer will be returning shortly to correct those and make sure everything is fastened exactly as it should be. We appreciate your patience and the chance to make this right. Once the work is complete and you're fully satisfied, we'd be grateful if you'd consider updating your review to reflect your experience. Thank you again for working with us.

I spent $43,000 on a new roof. As you can see in the photo, no waterproofing membrane was layed down. Now, less than two years later, the roof is leaking. Their gold seal 50 year warranty appears to be worthless. I probably will have to take the legal route. Think twice!

Update: Finally was able to speak to someone at Hygrade early 2025. They promised to send someone out to look at it. No one came. I followed up via email end of summer and they ignored it. I agreed to remove this review if they would come out and address it, but they don’t care. Previous Review: The steel roof was installed 20 years ago. I give it 5 stars for quality, appearance, and workmanship. Unfortunately, it recently developed a leak causing damage to my kitchen ceiling. I studied my 50 year warranty and bold statements that the roof is guaranteed not to leak, but here we are 20 years later. It’s been a full month since I attempted to contact the company, once by phone and 3 times by email. Not even an acknowledgment. I don’t know the warranty experience with others, but it appears the warranty coverage is worthless. I had no choice but to hire a handyman who located the problem and fixed it. I again reached out to Hygrade to inspect and perhaps recommend a more permanent solution to avoid this problem in future, but I don’t think they intend to address my concerns because they don’t respond. Whether or not they would consider this to be a warranty issue is not the point. Not even an acknowledgment of my attempts to reach them is seriously disappointing. So it’s the warranty and Hygrade’s failure to address it that gets only one star because zero is not a rating an option.

Buyer beware!!! Avoid this company at all costs!!!! They are a big company scam and not honorable at all. I am an actual client that regrets going with this company. All negative reviews of this Hygrade steel roofing company are truly 100% accurate. Wish i read those. Cant even give them a 1 star but looks like have no choice. They earned themselves zero stars. I have been disrepected, lied to and ripped off by this company. Many significantly damaged tiles delivered from their manufacturing plant and installed when they needed to be thrown out. Extremely poor workmanship of roofing tile materials. Advice....do not pay for any tiles until all of it is fully inspected for damages. Extremely poor workmanship by their installation contractor that the company blames without accountability or correct. Beyond a complete nightmare to have all the problems rectified that they cause. All the honest, professional and competent employees have quit the company because the shady Owners Tom Ware and management only care about collecting your hard earned money and not providing and truly standing by a hygrade premium roofing product. 50 year warranty is a joke, do not be sold on this. Management and owners play games, are dishonest, do everything to delay and cause frustration so you give up and go away instead of providing proper customer service and correcting the problem issues their quaility inspectors identified. When the true evidenced issues of extremely poor product and workmanship are identified and repeatedly asked to be corrected, the Owner's and management become extremely hostile, abusive, unprofessional, disrespectful, intimidate and even make threats. This is done so that you just go away. They acknowledge that it costs them money to fix the real problems they caused and do everything they can to avoid those expenses. Time is money to them. The client is to accept the garbage roof. Period!!!!! They spend more time on their fake image than providin

We take customer feedback seriously, even when we disagree with its accuracy. While we respect everyone's right to share their experience, this review is not a fair or truthful reflection of the situation. This particular customer received replacement roofing shakes when they reported some were damaged. Despite our best efforts—including offering to completely remove the roof and provide a full refund, which is far beyond industry standard—they remained unsatisfied. We also note that this is the third version of this review, each posted under a different name, which violates the platform’s review guidelines. Transparency and accountability matter to us, and we stand by our record of doing right by our customers—thousands of Ontario homeowners who chose Hy-Grade and are happy with their roofs years later. If anyone reading this has questions or concerns, we invite you to contact us directly. We’re proud of the work we do, and we won’t let one misleading review define the experience we provide. Sincerely, The Hy-Grade Team

We are very happy with the roof. It looks beautiful. Everyone we dealt with was very kind, knowledgeable and understanding. The crew that came were wonderful. They were very friendly with us and the kids that had tons of questions every day. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure everything was out of harms way. I would highly recommend Hy-Grade Steel Roofing. The last roof we will ever need.

We just had our steel roof installed! First…. Let me say that the roof consultant Robin Smith was just amazing. He explained everything in detail and even showed us some roof samples.. He made the whole process seamless and easy to do. We were scheduled for beginning of June but was surprised to hear that our roof could be done sooner. The 2 gentlemen who showed up worked non stop. They are to brothers who did an absolutely amazing job! I love learning new things and they both took the time to show me what and how they do the roof. I asked a lot of questions and they happily answered me. They did a great clean up every day and you’d never know they were there! So If you are looking for a forever roof look no further! Hy-grade is an awesome company with fantastic, caring workers! Thanks everyone for the work you did. Leona Kucharski
