I would never recommend this company to anyone. We gave them a $20,000.00 deposit and it took them over a month to start the work. The deposit was given August 6, 2025 and they didn't start work until the 19 of September. They damaged the ceiling in the living room because their employees kept working on the roof in the rain. My husband told them that he would fix it but after them being rude and taking until January 19, 2026 to fix the other outside item & being rude about the balance when they knew we were having issues with the lender signing the insurance checks, I told them they needed to have my ceiling fixed. Instead they put a lien on my home and charging an 8% interest rate as well as attorney fee's. They were well aware of the issues with the lender not signing the insurance checks before August 6, 2025. Their employee was nice but would never trust him again. We had them replace the roof due to a hail storm and they replace the gutters but damaged my porches and cracked my soffit in the process. They also left a huge mess on my screen porch and in my attack with nails that were shot through the roof on both. We asked their employee that set every thing up if the guys (roofers) could pray paint part of the chimney while they were up there and the cost. He told us they could do it if we provided the spray paint which we did. They never did spay paint the spots but kept my spray paint. definitely not a company I would ever do business with again nor would I recommend them.

We value transparency and customer experience, and we’d like to share some additional context regarding this project. First, regarding timing: this project was completed during peak roofing season following a major storm event. As a small business managing high demand and weather constraints, a ~4-week start timeline is both standard and was clearly communicated in advance. This expectation was acknowledged at the time, and no concern was raised until this review. The claim that repairs were delayed until January is also misleading. The minor soffit issue referenced was addressed immediately. As for the interior ceiling concern, we responded the same day it was reported with the offer to repair or reimburse you for any touch up costs. Your response in text: “We will fix it no problem. I just thought I needed to let you know. It wasn’t anyone’s fault…..we definitely can’t control the weather :)” The statement regarding pricing being higher than “verbally told” is false. All costs were clearly outlined, reviewed, and approved in the customer agreement and project summary you signed. Additionally, the upgraded fortified roofing system was authorized in writing, which adjusted the final scope and cost in accordance with insurance guidelines. To clarify pricing further: we do not set the costs. Insurance carriers determine the scope and pricing, and homeowners are responsible only for their deductible and any approved upgrades. We made multiple good-faith efforts to assist with mortgage endorsements but there has been a lack of cooperation to progress towards payment. We stand behind our work, our documentation, and our communication throughout this project.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I hired Highlands Roofing Co. and met Taylor Brady, after a neighbor's tree fell and damaged our gutters and there was a small hole in our roof. They fixed the hole and replaced the gutters, but forgot to tell us about gutter guards. Taylor told me that would be extra which is fine, but why didn't Taylor tell me before the job started? After they finished the work and were paid, we noticed 3 shingles were hanging from where Taylor's workers had installed the gutters. I wasn't going to write a review, but our handyman (who is not dishonest like Taylor is) informed us that there is significant rotten wood below the gutters. So Taylor's workers never told him about the rotten wood while they were working in that area? And Taylor never told us! Taylor kept telling me he wanted to install a brand new roof because our roof will collapse, the scare tactics didn't work on us.Taylor insisted on us pre-paying the full amount BEFORE the job was done. I asked Taylor to come back and fix HIS mistake with the shingles, but he hasn't shown up yet. Very disappointing experience with shoddy work and dishonest business practices.

Virginia, We're surprised to see this review as it contains inaccuracies and does not reflect our scope of work, craftsmanship, or communication on your project. We take pride in our company name as evidence in the 124, 5-star reviews within our local community-and we would like to address this false narrative that you have created and clear up any discrepancies: We have never asked you, nor any of our customer to pre-pay in full. Our signed contract clearly outline payment terms--"50% deposit to be collected as down payment, remaining 50% due upon works completion." We do not request or require full pre-payment before work is performed. To further this point, we also have two payments on your project, reflecting the 50% deposit, 50% completion pay structure if you would like to revisit your bank statements. Check # 563 dated 9/29/25 Check # 567 dated 10/14/25 The scope of work that you reviewed and signed off on clearly specified 5" seamless gutters only--there was no mention or charge for gutter guards. When the topic was later raised, we explained that gutter guards are an optional add-on that were not included in the original scope of work. In regards to the condition of your existing asphalt shingle roof--at no time were there any scare tactics used. As a professional roofing company, offering potential clients a roof assessment is a free service we provide daily in our community. At no time did anyone state that your current roof would "collapse"--that assertion is completely untrue. In fact, following our assessment, you let us know that a new roof was the last item on your mind because you had plans of selling your home soon--indication that neither party believed the roof was structurally unsafe at any time. Lastly, and probably most shocking is you have posted photos of areas on your home where my team was not even working. Had there been legitimate concerns on your part in regard to our agreed upon scope of work or craftsmanship, you coul

Recently had our roof replaced by Taylor and his team. From the beginning to the end, Taylor was absolutely professional and easy to work with. He went out of his way to be there for the last minute roof inspection with insurance and walked us through the entire process from start to finish afterwards. Always answered or returned our calls promptly if we had any questions. No pressure to do this or that. Was always early, ready to help and get the job done. His team was quick and efficient and didn't leave until everything was done properly and cleaned up. Recommend 110%.

Five star experience. I dealt with Cole from initial contact through project completion. His coordination with my insurance company was flawless. Outstanding communication from start to finish. There was extensive carpentry work required before commencement of roofing project which was not covered by insurance. The speed and quality of this work was very well worth the price quoted, and the quoted price was the price charged. A bigger crew than was expected was assigned, and the completion on a 3200 foot single floor home, plus a 900 foot outbuilding was completed in two very long days. The crew worked 6:30 am to 8:30 pm. Cleanup was thorough. I certainly recommend Highlands.

Taylor and team have been fantastic! I had a window leak after a bad storm and they came and fixed it quickly. The communication on the problem was clear and Taylor was efficient in his assessment. I will absolutely use in the future!

We had a leak during a thunderstorm. We called him, and he was here within 30 minutes. He put a temporary patch on the hole so we wouldn't have any other issues for the evening, which was calling for 2-3 inches of rain, such a relief! He was professional and friendly. We will definitely be engaging him for further work. Highly recommend!

We highly recommend Highlands Roofing. Cole went above and beyond in helping with our insurance claim. The installation crew did an excellent job and made sure everything was clean and back in place after the job was finished. You won’t be disappointed!

This whole experience was fantastic. They showed up 15 minutes early on the day of install. By the time I got dressed poured a cup of coffee and headed outside they had layed all the tarp to cover plants and had removed half of the shingles on a 2400 sf home. It was a crew of 12 and everyone of them was polite and professional. The quality of work was 10/10. I am in residential construction management and can apppreciate hard work. Cole was the point of contact. He took hundreds of pictures and he handled everything for me. Throughout the whole process I was asked if everything was satisfactory and to my liking. They picked up every bit of trash and nails. They had 4 guys pay special attention to my driveway to make sure no nails or metal was left behind. I highly recommend this company.

Our neighborhood Harvest Ridge in Angier was hit hard by a hail storm. We immediately had several roofing companies knocking on doors offering free inspections. As a retired engineer, I did my homework and questioned if I needed a new roof. It wasn’t until Cole Eckles, who is a Project Manager of Highlands Roofing, came along and took time to answer questions, explain the process and work with my insurance company did I feel like I wasn’t getting scammed. He was very professional. No gimmicks. He met with my insurance company adjuster and he went on the roof with the insurance roof inspector. Integrity was very important to me. He submitted the claim cost which was below what the insurance adjuster offered. He quoted and installed a high quality CertainTeed shingle. Earlier, he said he wouldn’t install the roof when the temp was below 40 degrees. His installation crew showed up per schedule on a Monday when temps were below 40. They only did prep work and then install the next day when temps were above 40. They didn’t rush the installation. They did an excellent job including identifying and repairing two rotted sections of my roof causing leaks and replaced all metal flashing and hardware. Cole came out and verified the installation and clean up. I highly recommend Highlands Roofing.

Excellent company to deal with. Cole was very professional & kept on top of everything. The work crew, headed by Gadiel, worked almost nonstop. I " highly" recommend (pun intended) Highlands Roofing!

Cole Eckles with Highlands Roofing did an excellent job helping us navigate roof replacement due to hail damage across our roof, gutter guards and downspouts. He expertly walked us through the entire process, provided timely information, met with insurance adjusters, and set up material delivery and scheduling dates. He was wonderful to work with, quick to respond to questions, professional, personable, and displayed the highest level of integrity, concern for what was best for our situation, without any pressuring sales tactics. The Highland installation crew was top notch: Gadiel, crew leader, and his associate worked non-stop from sunup until after supper daily until the job was completed. They stripped the shingles down to the sheathing, completely removing all old materials, repairing/replacing any sheathing with water damage, then professionally and expertly replacing all materials, including perfectly aligned shingles, for a complete and beautiful new and weather-protected roof. Care was taken to protect and cover plants, landscaping and outdoor furniture during the installation process. No corners were cut, work was professionally executed, all according to code and even going above and beyond to ensure an excellent installation. Cleanup included removal of all excess materials, even sweeping area lawns and landscaping for any nails and debris. Cole returned for a final inspection and took aerial photos via drone, submitting to document the completion of the job. This whole process was seamless, expertly administrated and handled professionally with care. We highly recommend Highlands Roofing, Cole Eckerd and his crew. We enthusiastically give them a 10/10 Five Star rating.

In the Outer Banks there are many roofing companies to choose from and it’s hard to know which companies are trustworthy. Here in Kitty Hawk we took the advice of trusted friends and consulted with Highlands Roofing. We were impressed with Highlands knowledge and professionalism, and before hiring them we were guided through detailed information about the entire process and cost. From all this we determined that Highlands Roofing would be the excellent choice. Now, a week after the our new roof was installed, we can say we made the very best choice by hiring Highlands Roofing. All the work was carried out in a workmanlike manner, and after work, cleanup was great. Very thankful to have heard about Highlands Roofing.
