  Terrible company. They couldn't fix a roof leak in multiple visits. It turns out it is the way they patched my roof and left nail holes unsealed that ended up being the reason for a persistent roof leak AFTER they repaired it. I hired another reputable company who found the issue in a single visit.

  This is a roofing company to avoid. A new roof was installed in 2018 on the house we purchased. In just over 4 years, 3 out of 4 vent pipe collars have failed, allowing water in. We are now dealing with black mold, ceiling damage, and paying a competent company to fix the mistakes made. Hardesty does not stand behind their work, and you shouldn't live under it. I'm not even concerned about the warranty aspect. I'll take that on the chin, I should have gotten it transferred but between rent-back and moving it got away from me. We'd have been happy to pay for parts if the company would fix their mistakes. There is no reason, other than shoddy workmanship, that 3 out of 4 vent pipe collars are leaking water into our home. You simply can't trust the work here. Find a different company.

  When Mrs. O'Brien first called in to the office, she had requested some warranty work on her roof. When one of our office staff realized that the roof was completed for the previous owner and the warranty had not been transferred, she politely declined the request and offered information on how they could transfer the manufacturer's warranty. She apprised the owner of the situation the next day, and he felt that we should make an exception and personally called the homeowner to speak with them. He offered not only to come out and replace the pipe collars, but to upgrade them to a better version as well. She advised that she would speak with her husband regarding the matter. A few days later, the owner followed up, but have not heard back regarding his offer

  Not a good experience. Roofers were polite and professional but they could not fix the problem with my roof after many visits. It only took one visit from another highly-rated roofer to fix my roof problem for less than half the cost that Hardesty charged for various fixes that ultimately never fixed or even helped my roofing issue. At the time my suspicions of Hardesty's poor practices or capability were confirmed by the fact that Hardesty's business rating at the time was low. I had only called them without even looking at the reviews since they were the original roofing company that my builder used. It looks like they've been making a concerted effort to get people to leave 5 star reviews in the past couple months and hey it could be true but I would be very concerned about doing business with them again.

  Do not use this company if you are going through your insurance company. They do not assist you when dealing with insurance company. I had damage from the ice storm where part of my roof needed to be repaired. Hardesty did not want to repair it, but wanted to replace the whole roof. So I went ahead and replaced the roof. When I asked for a quote for the repair portion to send to the insurance company, they gave me the run around. Promised to get back to me. They NEVER responded to calls and only responded to emails after constant contact. They kept telling me the estimator would call me back and he never did. Coleman was the estimator and he seemed to not have any customer service skills at all. They also over ordered materials (at my cost) so I had a lot left over. Very poor customer service. I would not recommend as there are plenty of other respectable roofing companies.

  We do apologize if your experience with us was not up to the high standards we expect from our team. Communiction with our customers is one of the most important aspects of our projects. If we failed in that area, we appreciate the time you took to provide us with the feedback we need to improve that area of the company. The greater Richmond area has had multiple ice storms in the past few years, and we have worked with well over 1,000 customers, and assisted them with their insurance claims process. Please understand that we can only provide our professional diagnosis, but it is ulitmately up to the customer's insurance company to determine whether a claim is granted. Based on the age and condition of your roof, as well as having multiple layers of shingles, and a significant amount of damaged decking, it was our strong recommendation to have it replaced in full. Additionally, with regard to the additional materials that were ordered, it is customary for us to "over order" the shingles and accessories on our projects. This way, they crew does not have to leave the job to pick up any extra needed materials. These extra materials are not factored into the customer's estimate/cost, and are returned to the suppliers we purchased them from. In the end, we hope that you enjoy the quality roof that was installed, and the free upgraded extended warranty.

  Because Hardesty Roofing does not require a deposit, we do not process the manufacturer's warranty until we receive final payment. Our 10 year workmanship warranty was already provided on the invoice that was sent to this customer. Addtionally, we process this warranty as a courtesy to our customers. The homeowner can actually process this themselves via the manufactuer's website (which I explained), but must show proof of payment (a paid invoice). When the customer absolutely refused to pay anything until he received his warranty, I advised that if he didn't pay we would unfortunately have to take this to court to collect our payment (as any other business would do). Additionally, this invoice was well over the 15 day payment period, and we did not charge him the 2% finance charge (which would have been substantial on a $13,000+ project). Thousands of our customers have never had an issue with this process, and it is sad that just one part of the entire project prompted the customer to give us a 1 star review. I even emailed the customer with wording that stated we would process the warranty once payment was received, just so he had it in writing. This customer paid last night and when the credit card went through, we processed the warranty as promised, and emailed him the submission.

  My roof is less than 9 years old and is already leaking and they want to charge me to fix it. If it had been installed correctly, it wouldn't be leaking already. Makes me worry about what's down the road. It was a VERY expensive roof and I'm very disappointed in them.

  We chose to use Hardesty because they worked with us on a possible insurance claim. Bad choice. To start the roof replacement, they showed up two days late, making numerous bogus excuses, one of which was that they wanted to cover our landscaping with plywood (leaned up against the house) to protect it. Well, they showed up at 6:30 AM without plywood, only tarps. Oh well. At 8:30 AM, we let our dogs out and one of the workers shouted down from the roof "Hey, hey! Your flowers are broken.". Unbelievable. We should have listened to our neighbors. Here's to hoping Hardesty can finish the job in a better fashion.

  Bad experience with Hardesty roofing- Think twice about Hardesty roofing. New roof put on and 2 weeks later when the first rain came- water leaked into bedroom through the ceiling. When I called them to ask if they would repair the ceiling, they refused to fix it because it wasn't covered by the warranty. It was a small job too, smaller than 2'x2' repair job. would have been a cheap fix to make a happy customer. They did not care.

  Very helpful and professional from start to finish. Provided us addresses of houses with shingles we were considering so we could make an informed decision. Arrived as scheduled. Used tarps to collect debris and protect lawn and bushes. Worked in segments to ensure exposure to bad weather would be limited. Hard working crew who obviously knew what they were doing. Immaculate cleanup. Minor glitch with an exterior HVAC unit being slightly displaced. Hardest immediately reimbursed us for the mechanical contractor's cost to realign and test unit - no hassle at all. We are very pleased with our new roof and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hardesty.

  Hardesty as a company, the owner, and the technician Coleman are excellent. They took accountability for an oversight and fixed the problem urgently. The owner called me personally on a Sunday to apologize and Coleman freed up his schedule to take care of my problem. I will be continuing to come to them with any roofing needs.

After reviewing our records from the previous owner of your home, we did perform some siding and window work in September 2025 (as well as other work in the past), but unfortunately we had never replaced a skylight for the previous owner.

  Recently had Hardesty put new roofs and skylights on several detached garages in the city. They did a terrific job. The roofers arrived early, knocked the job out fast, and cleaned up thoroughly. Final product looked near and clean; I would definitely recommend.
