All the reviews are promotional I presume, because they’re a rip off of the company. Never upfront on pricing and will charge you more half way thru the job. They charged me 46k for a 20 by 60 roof, will never use this company again.

This has been an over year long experience with this company. We had a leaking roof on commercial property, and received a quote from Goldenberg Roofing. The initial quote was reasonably competitive, and due to the good reviews, we decided to move forward with them. Red flag #1: They revised their initial quote and doubled it, claiming that the initial quote was from someone who does not work for them anymore Red flag #2: As soon as they started the work, they tore open the roof and claimed that there were unforeseen costs of the repair and that they would need an additional $20,000 to finish the repair. At this point the roof was dismantled and the business underneath was dependent on not having rain pour into the building. The best thing to have done would have been to cut ties with this company and to move onto the next. But of course, we didn't... We trusted the word of Eden, and paid him for the surprise repairs that were urgently needed. At this point we were double in the initial quote to repair the roof, and that to complete the repair it would take double the amount we were already in, that's four times the initial quote. At the same time Eden said the most urgent repairs were done. Over the next 11 months the initial leak was worse than ever, and instead of a steady leak, there was a constant stream into the building interior during rainfall. This increased damage that was being done by the leak, compared to how the building was before Goldenberg Roofing touched the building. I reached out to Eden mid December 2017 for details on what work he did and proof. Over the course of 2.5 weeks he only responses have been text messages of apologies and excuses about emergencies and he can't even be bothered to send me proof of the work he's done. On top of that I have consulted with other roofing companies who have looked at the roof, and said that the roof repair could've been fully repaired for not only less than what we have already paid to Goldenbe

Goldenberg oversold us on the job. Moreover, I accidentally overpaid them by $10k (I wrote two checks but cancelled the first when it was too late) over a year ago and wasn't paid back. I consider this stealing and filed a lawsuit. Horrible company.

I'm surprised of the reviews that this company got so I think it is their friends or relatives because I hired this company to do my laundromat and it is the worst job ever with more leaks and a lot of damage just one week after the job is done, I have pictures and videos and I asked Aden , the owner and he did nothing only promises but now I'm going to see him in court soon, be smart and hire another company and don't just read the reviews that it looks not true. Thx

Water was getting into our top-floor room where the flat roof met the neighboring wall. They removed the loose flashing, repaired the underlying area, and installed new reinforced wall flashing. The neighbor’s side was protected and everything was cleaned when the work was done. We have had plenty of rain since the repair with no further problem. Good work and a straightforward experience.

I run an antique shop in Greenpoint, so my main concern was stopping the leak without creating a bigger mess around the inventory. The problem came from a puncture in the membrane behind a rooftop unit, not from the larger roof area as I originally assumed. They checked the insulation surrounding the damage and found it dry enough for a localized repair. The torn section was cut back and patched with membrane compatible with the existing roof. The nearby equipment supports were also repositioned so their edges would not continue pressing into the surface. Protective plastic was placed inside before work started, although very little dust came through. It was a relatively small job, but the same care was taken during the water test and cleanup that I would have expected from a complete replacement. Nothing has leaked since

The rooftop garden was the reason we enjoyed the building, but it also concealed most of the flat roof. Modular planting trays, irrigation lines, and pavers covered the membrane, making it difficult to investigate a leak above the rear bedroom. Moving a few trays did not reveal the full extent of the problem. A green-roof specialist removed the plants and irrigation components under a separate scope. Once the surface was clear, multiple membrane punctures and a clogged drainage layer became visible. Moisture testing showed wet insulation extending beyond the bedroom location. The replacement design accounted for the vegetated system returning afterward. The deck was repaired locally, then new insulation, membrane, compatible protection and root-control layers, drainage components, and accessible drain details were installed. The roofers and garden installer agreed on support and traffic areas in advance. One deck section near the drain required replacement, while the remaining wood stayed in place. Photographs documented the membrane before the protective layers covered it. An inspection box now identifies the drain so it can be checked without moving an entire planting bed. Two planting trays cracked during removal. Replacements were supplied before the garden reopened, although the matching plants needed several weeks to fill in visually. One irrigation connection also required a second visit from the garden installer. The terrace and neighboring parapet were cleaned before the trays returned. The final layout preserves a clear service path and keeps heavy planters away from the drain. We also received separate maintenance instructions for the roof and planting system. A full growing season and several storms have passed without water entering the bedroom. The garden looks nearly the same as before, but the concealed layers and maintenance access are completely different. Preserving the rooftop use while making the roof inspectable was the best outcome we could ha

We planned to pay part of our flat-roof replacement from savings but needed help with the remaining balance. A third-party lender approved financing for that portion under its own monthly payment terms. The roofing business did not provide the funds or make the lending decision. Our existing roof had recurring leaks around a rear drain and two plumbing penetrations. Replacement allowed those areas to be rebuilt together rather than patched separately again. The scope included removal, insulation, membrane, tapered drain sections, new flashing, and a decking allowance. Only one small wood area required replacement. The lender released payment a day later than expected, which delayed final paperwork but not the weather-tight installation. A few membrane cutoffs were found near the neighboring fence and removed during a return sweep. The roof has now gone through summer rain and winter weather without another leak. Using cash and outside financing together kept the monthly amount lower while still allowing us to complete the entire scope.

Our apartment building has five masonry ventilation shafts passing through the flat roof. Nearly every shaft had been patched differently over the years, and leaks were appearing in rooms that did not line up neatly with the visible roof damage. The membrane between the shafts was also cracked and heavily coated. The replacement proposal treated the roof field and each masonry intersection separately. Loose mortar above the flashing line was repaired first. The roofing scope then included removal, insulation, modified-bitumen membrane, drain work, and new flashing around all five shafts. Tear-off exposed damaged decking beside only one shaft. The other stained areas were dry enough to retain. Photographs made that distinction clear before the replacement wood was installed. Masonry dust entered one open top-floor window during the first phase. The sill was cleaned, and residents received a reminder to keep those windows closed while wall work continued. No additional interior dust was reported. The roof has since gone through several storms without leaks in any of the former rooms. The shafts now have consistent flashing instead of five unrelated surface repairs.

The roof drain was not the only reason our warehouse held water. An older equipment platform had been removed years earlier, leaving raised patches that interrupted the drainage path. Water collected behind them even after the drain itself was cleaned. The estimate compared shaving down and repairing the obstructions with replacing the worn roof and rebuilding the slope. Test openings found wet insulation beneath two former platform locations, which made replacement the stronger option. The unused support penetrations were closed at the deck. Tapered insulation created a continuous route toward the drain, and the new membrane was installed over a prepared cover surface. Service walkways were added only where active equipment remained. One corroded deck area required replacement near the former platform. Material loading briefly blocked the rear receiving door during a scheduled delivery. The site lead cleared the route, and later staging was marked more carefully. Warehouse operations continued during the rest of the work. The first major rain left only a thin temporary film before the roof drained. Water no longer sits behind the abandoned platform patches because those raised areas are gone

I almost postponed the replacement when I saw the total. Our roof was leaking around two plumbing vents and had a low spot near the middle, but we had already spent a decent amount on repairs over the previous three years. Putting more cash into the same roof did not feel smart, and paying for the full project at once was not realistic either. We were referred to a third-party lender and applied directly through that company. The payment plan we qualified for required no money upfront and spread the approved amount into monthly payments. The roofing business did not make the loan or decide the terms. That financing changed the decision from another round of patches to complete replacement. The old membrane and damaged insulation were removed, the plumbing penetrations received new flashing, and tapered insulation was used to improve the low area. Only one decking section needed replacement, which was less than the allowance included in the agreement. A material delivery arrived later than planned, so the project finished the following morning instead of that afternoon. I would have preferred to know about the delay sooner, but the roof was secured and there was no interior exposure overnight. The final invoice credited the unused portion of the decking allowance. We had a heavy rain about a week later. Both vent areas stayed dry, and the low section drained without leaving the large puddle we were used to seeing. The lender arrangement is still a financial obligation, but it allowed us to solve the whole problem instead of paying for repairs year after year.

We bought a Brooklyn brownstone knowing the flat roof would need attention. There were no active leaks during the inspection, but the membrane was heavily patched, the flashing was pulling away from one parapet, and nobody could provide reliable installation records. We decided to replace it before beginning the interior renovation. Because the building was temporarily unoccupied, access was straightforward. The crew from Goldenberg Roofing NYC was able to photograph the underside of the deck from areas where ceilings had already been opened. Those observations, combined with test cuts above, gave us a more accurate decking allowance before work began. The existing layers were removed to the wood deck. Most boards were reusable, with repairs limited to the parapet edge and one abandoned vent opening. New insulation and membrane were installed, and the vent was closed properly at the deck level. We also discussed future mechanical equipment planned for the roof. Clear service zones were marked, walkway pads were added, and the drain was kept away from the proposed equipment footprint. Nothing mechanical was installed as part of this contract. The first invoice included one more sheet of replacement decking than the photographs and measurements showed. I asked about it, the records were reviewed, and the invoice was corrected. Mistakes happen, but I paid attention to how quickly it was handled. The roof has remained dry while the interior work continues. We now have dated photographs of the bare deck, repairs, insulation, membrane, flashing, and drainage areas. Replacing a roof that was not leaking might sound premature, but completing it before new ceilings and finishes went in was the practical choice for this property.

The copper scuppers were one of the few roof details we wanted to preserve. They had aged well visually, but the membrane behind them had been patched repeatedly and one opening drained much slower than the other. Replacing everything with generic metal would have been easier, though it would not have looked right on the building. A metal specialist inspected the exterior conductor heads while the roofer evaluated the concealed sleeves and surrounding membrane. The decorative copper could remain, but the internal connections needed to be rebuilt. That became part of a complete cold-applied modified-bitumen replacement. After tear-off, the deck was solid except for the areas immediately inside both scuppers. The damaged wood was replaced, tapered insulation was laid out toward the openings, and a cover board created a consistent base. New scupper sleeves were integrated into the roofing and connected to the retained copper components. The custom metal took four days longer than promised. Roofing work continued in other areas, but the final scupper details could not be completed until it arrived. We received updates, although the delay still felt longer than it should have. New base and cap sheets were installed with reinforced flashing at the parapets and active chimney. The restored copper was cleaned but not polished into looking brand new. That was our preference because the existing patina suited the building. A few small pieces of old roofing were left on the lower setback after cleanup. We noticed them from an upstairs window and removed them ourselves. There had been a large amount of demolition, so it was understandable, but the lower area could have used one final check. Both scuppers now drain at a similar rate, and no water remains backed up against the parapets. The new roof looks simple, while the copper details still feel original to the property. Preserving them required more coordination, but it was worth doing.

The chimney had been covered with repeated beads of sealant, but water continued entering during wind-driven rain. Had extensive roof work done by Goldenberg Roofing NYC including a new granulated cap sheet installation and reflective white coating applied to all the parapet walls and chimney structures. The crew handled the skylight curb replacement carefully, making sure everything was properly sealed before setting it back in place. Even working in cold weather conditions, the team stayed focused and kept the site organized. You can see the difference immediately, the white coating alone will help a lot with heat reflection and long term membrane protection. Solid, professional work from start to finish. This house had closed-cell spray foam applied directly to the underside of the roof deck, creating an unvented attic assembly. The shingles were worn, but there was no open attic space where the underside of the plywood could be inspected. Adding ordinary ridge and soffit vents without reviewing the assembly could have disrupted its intended design. The ventilation and insulation approach was confirmed before roofing began. The replacement preserved the unvented configuration rather than automatically adding vents because they were common on neighboring houses. Test removal found one leak-damaged deck area that could not be seen through the foam from below. An insulation contractor removed foam locally so the damaged plywood could be replaced properly. Seven sheets were ultimately changed, while the remaining deck stayed firm. After the carpentry was complete, the insulation contractor restored the affected foam and air-control continuity from inside. Above the deck, the roof received new eave protection, synthetic underlayment, and architectural shingles. Penetrations were limited to the active plumbing and exhaust vents, with unused openings removed during replacement. Flashing was rebuilt without relying on the old layers of cement. The cooperation between the Goldenberg Roofing NYC and insulation trades prevented either system from being altered in isolation. Deck photographs and measured quantities kept the additional work understandable. Interior protection was concentrated beneath the foam-repair areas, and the rooms remained clean. The project finished with the new roof and the existing unvented assembly working as a coordinated system. Turn on the 10 outta 10 will recommend

Water was entering near the party wall shared by two buildings with different roofing systems. One side had a newer EPDM membrane, while the higher neighboring roof had an older modified-bitumen surface. Roofing cement had previously been used to bridge the two materials, but movement between the buildings had split the improvised connection. Rather than applying another layer of cement, the guys at Goldenberg Roofing NYC documented both roof elevations and developed a transition that did not depend on bonding incompatible materials together. The failed material was removed, the masonry joint was prepared, and reinforced EPDM flashing was secured beneath new metal counterflashing. Work was scheduled with the neighboring owner so planters and rooftop furniture could be moved away from the shared wall. Both properties were protected during removal, and loose mortar was vacuumed from the neighboring roof before the furniture was returned. The transition passed a controlled water test. More importantly, the affected room remained dry during a later northeast storm—the weather pattern that had consistently produced the original leak.

Water began entering near an exterior wall after strong wind displaced part of the stone ballast. Once the stones were moved aside, the EPDM membrane showed no punctures, but a concealed field seam had started separating. Dust and moisture had entered the opening, preventing it from being resealed without preparation. The seam was cleaned, dried, primed, and rebuilt with reinforced EPDM material extending beyond both ends of the separation. Nearby ballast was redistributed to provide even coverage without burying the wall flashing. The Goldenberg Roofing NYC crew also installed separation material where sharper stones had rested directly against the membrane. A water test confirmed the repair before the ballast was returned. The interior wall remained dry during later wind-driven rain.

Gutters help direct rainwater away from the roof and building exterior, making them an important part of effective property drainage. Goldenberg Roofing NYC provides gutter installation, gutter repairs, gutter service, and copper gutter replacement throughout New York City. Properly functioning gutters can help protect roofing materials, siding, masonry, and other exterior components from uncontrolled runoff. Clogged, damaged, or poorly aligned gutters can allow water to overflow against the building. Continued moisture exposure may contribute to staining, siding deterioration, masonry damage, roof problems, and drainage concerns. Regularly checking gutters and connected drainage systems can help identify conditions that require attention before they become more extensive. Goldenberg Roofing NYC works with property owners throughout New York City to evaluate gutter conditions and determine practical solutions. Maintaining gutters as part of regular roofing care supports effective water management and helps reduce avoidable moisture-related deterioration around the building.8 hours agoLearn more
